2.Response surface optimization of microwave-assisted extraction for HPLC-fluorescence determination of puerarin and daidzein in Radix Puerariae thomsonii

Microwave-assisted extraction was optimized with response surface methodology for HPLC-fluorescence determination of puerarin and daidzein in Radix Puerariae thomsonii.The optimized extraction procedure was achieved by soaking the sample with 70% methanol(1∶15,v/v)for 30 min,and then microwave irradiation for 11 min at a power of 600 W.Coupling the extraction process with HPLC-fluorescence presented good recovery,satisfactory precision,and good linear relation.Compared with a method from the Chinese Pharmacopoeia,the proposed method enables higher extraction efficiency and more accurate analytical results.It can be of potential value in quality assessment of Radix Puerariae thomsonii medicinal materials.

7. Development of chemical defense medicine Driven by Biotechnology

The health service of chemical defense medicine is an important guarantee for national security, which has been expanded from dealing with traditional pure chemical warfare to current medical treatment of poisoning caused by public chemical accident, chemical terrorist attack, or future potential toxic agents at the boundary of chemistry and biology. The most recent scientific and technical disciplines, such as synthetic biology, pharmaceutical bioinformatics, nanotechnology, or drug/device combinatorial technology, should be utilized greatly to enhance the ability of the health service of the chemical defense medicine. And it is also important to establish and improve such management practice of emergence medicine as shelf life extension program or emergency use authorization.
8.Research on correlation between family cohesion and adaptability and quality of life in patients with enterostomy

Objective To investigate the correlation between family cohesion and adaptability and quality of life in patients with enterostomy. Methods Using Chinese version of Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale (FACESⅡ-CV) and Chinese version of Stoma-Quality of Life (STOMA-QOL-C) to investigate the status of family cohesion and adaptability, family type and their impact on quality of life of 110 patients with enterostomy. Results Scores of family cohesion and adaptability averaged 59.15 ± 11.94, 47.32 ± 9.40,were significantly lower than 63.90 ± 8.00 and 50.90 ± 6.20 in the norm,and the difference was statistically significant (t=-4.171,-3.990, P<0.01).The family cohesion was positively correlated with the score of quality of life, social interaction and psychological burden(r=0.274, 0.284, 0.263, P<0.05), and the family adaptability was positively correlated with the score of quality of life,social interaction and psychological burden(r=0.316, 0.338, 0.228, P<0.05 or 0.01). The balance type family was 30 cases;scores of quality of life averaged 45.10±7.26, the intermediate type family was 50 cases;scores of quality of life averaged 43.48±9.98, the extreme type family was 28 cases;scores of quality of life averaged 43.37 ± 16.68, and difference between the three was no statistically significant(F=0.442, P=0.665). Conclusions In the nursing process of patients with enterostomy, health care workers should pay attention to improve family cohesion and adaptability, as to achieve the purpose of improving the quality of life of the patients.
9.Gas chromatography for determination of N-isopropylaniline in workplace atmosphere.

OBJECTIVETo establish a method for determination of N-isopropylaniline in the workplace atmosphere by gas chromatography.
METHODSAir samples were collected by silica gel tube and desorbed by acetone. Then they were separated through DB-WAX columns and N-isopropylaniline was determined by flame ionization detector.
RESULTSThe concentration of N-isopropylaniline showed a good linear relationship within the range of 1.40∼665.0 µg/ml. The sampling efficiency was 100%. The accuracy was 96%∼ 99% and the precision was 2.1%∼7.0%. The minimum detectable concentration was 0.056 mg/m(3) (with sampled air volume of 7.5 L).
CONCLUSIONThe method meets the requirements of analysis and applies to the determination of N-isopropylaniline in the workplace atmosphere.
