OBJECTIVETo observe the clinical efficacy difference in treatment of functional dyspepsia (FD) between syndrome differentiation based acupuncture and ordinary acupuncture.
METHODSSeventy FD patients were assigned to a syndrome differentiation based acupuncture group (Group A) and an ordinary acupuncture group (Group B) by Excel Software randomization. Zhongwan (RN12 ), Tianshu (ST25), and Zusanli (ST36) were needled as main points for patients in Group A. Meanwhile, different combined acupoints were needled according to syndrome differentiation. Only the same main points were needled for patients in Group B. All patients were needled once per day, 30 min each time, 6 days as one treatment cycle, 2 treatment cycles in total. Fasting serum levels of gastrin (GAS) and motilin (MTL) were determined before treatment and after 2 treatment cycles. 36-item Short-form Heath Survey (SF-36) and Nepean Dyspepsia Index [NDI, including Nepean Dyspepsia Symptom Index (NDSI) and Nepean Dyspepsia Life Quality Index (NDLQI)] were assessed before treatment, after 2 treatment cycles, and one month after treatment.
RESULTSCompared with before treatment in the same group, serum levels of GAS and MLT increased in the two groups after 2 treatment cycles (P <0. 05), but changes were more obvious in Group A (P <0. 05). Compared with before treatment in the same group, SF-36 and NDLQI score increased, and NDSI score decreased in the two groups after 2 treatment cycles and 1 month after treatment (all P <0. 05). Compared with Group B, SF-36 and NDLQI score increased in Group A after 2 treatment cycles and 1 month after treatment (P <0. 05, P <0. 01). But NDSI score at 1 month after treatment was lower in Group A than in Group B (P <0.01).
CONCLUSIONSyndrome differentiation based acupuncture could evidently improve dyspeptic symptoms of FD patients, and significantly improve their quality of life with remarkable curative effect.

In this study, we investigated the effect of Cigu Xiaozhi formula on HSC-T6 activity in hypoxic microenvironment based on network pharmacology and computer-aided drug design, and predicted and verified its possible targets and related signaling pathways. The potential active components and targets of Cigu Xiaozhi formula were screened by searching Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP), Encyclopaedia of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ETCM) and Bioinformatics Analysis Tool for Molecular Mechanism of Traditional Chinese Medicine (BATMAN-TCM) databases, and the liver fibrosis related targets retrieved from Gene Cards and Pharm GK database were integrated to obtain the potential targets of Cigu Xiaozhi formula in the treatment of liver fibrosis. GO enrichment analysis and KEGG signaling pathway enrichment analysis were performed on Omic Share platform, and Cytoscape software was used to construct the "potential active ingredient-key target-pathway" network. The active components and target proteins were subjected to molecular docking analysis by Auto Dock software. According to the results of molecular dynamics simulation and binding free energy calculation, the top 5 active components with degree were scored. The active components stigmasterol and

OBJECTIVESTo explore serum cytokines levels (including IL-1beta, sIL-2R, IL-6, TNF-alpha, and IFN-upsilon) and their significance in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and the subsequent follow-ups, with attempt to estimate the role of various serum inflammatory markers in the diagnosis and assessment of ACS.
METHODSThe study population include 40 patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), 40 patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP), and 40 controls. Among the 80 patients, 60 patients attended a follow up 4 months later. Serum inflammatory markers including IL-1beta, slL-2R, IL-6, TNF-alpha, and IFN-upsilon were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.
RESULTSSerum IL-1beta, sIL-2R, IL-6, TNF-alpha were significantly higher in AMI group or UAP group compared to the control group and became significantly lower 4 months later in the follow-up patients. Serum levels of IFN-upsilon shows no significant difference between AMI group or UAP group and controls, also showing no significant change when measured in follow up patients. There was no correlation between serum creatine kinase-MB isoenzyme levels and serum inflammatory markers either in UAP or AMI group. Furthermore, when divided into two subgroups using Wagner's QRS scoring system in the AMI group, there is no difference of each serum inflammatory marker between < or = 6 scores group and > 6 scores group.
CONCLUSIONSerum levels of certain inflammatory markers may have some diagnostic value for ACS, and can be a useful marker reflecting disease stability.

Objective To investigate the feasibility of the adaptive cardio sequence prospective ECG-gated dual-source CT coronary angiography (CTCA).Methods Thirty one patients underwent prospective ECG-gated dual-source CTCA. The patients were divided into two groups: group A, heart rate ≤ 75 times / minutes, 70% of R-R interval was chose; group B, heart rate> 75 times / minutes, 40% of R-R interval was chose. Two experienced radiologists assessed the image quality of 15 segments of coronary arteries in a double blinded fashion in a four score scale. Student t test was used to compare the image quality between two groups. CT dose index(CTDIvol) and effective dose(ED) were also calculated for both groups. Results 437 segments of coronary arteries in 31 patients were included this analysis, 408 segments (93.4%) had assessable image quality, while 29 segments (6.6%) had non assessable image quality. Of 226 segments in group A, 12 segments (5.3%) had non assessable image quality; however, 17 segments (8.1%) of 211 segments in group B had non assessable image quality. The average score of image quality was 3.57±0.64 in 31 patients. There was no statistical difference for mean image quality of group A (3.65±0.39) and group B (3.41±0.43)( t=1.62,P=0.12 ) . There was a statistical difference for mean image quality for segment 10 on a per segment basis ( t = 3.8 ,P<0.05). CTDIvol and ED were (18.88±5.04) mGy and (4.31±1.05) mSv, respectively. Conclusion Adaptive cardio sequence prospective ECG-gated dual source CT can acquire assessable image quality of coronary artery with lower radiation dose to the patients, which has the potential to be a routine CTCA technique.

Primary angiitis of the central nervous system is a rare and difficult entity. Here we represented the clinical and pathological features of a patient with little response to steroid before definite diagnosis. The 50-year-old male had a fluctuating disease course for more than 3 years. He presented visual disorders, seizure, cognitive impairment, hypersomnia, unsteady gait, dysphasia, dysphagia, and incontinence. Magnetic resonance imaging showed multiple, supratentorial and infratentorial abnormal signals, while cerebrospinal fluid and cerebral angiography were normal. Magnetic resonance spectrum showed a decrease of N-acetyl-aspartate. Brain biopsy revealed nongranulomatous lymphatic vasculitis with reactive gliosis, cicatrization, demyelination and focal hemorrhages.

An alkaline catalase has been purified and characterized from a slightly halophilic and alkaliphilic bacterium Bacillus sp. F26. The purification was performed with a four step procedure consisting of ammonium sulfate precipitation, ion exchange, gel filtration and hydrophobic interaction chromatography, and finally achieved a 58.5-fold-purifying over the crude extract. The purified catalase was composed of two identical subunits with a native molecular mass of 140 kD. The native enzyme showed the typical Soret band appearing at 408 nm. The pyridine hemochrome spectrum indicated the presence of protoheme IX as the prosthetic group. The apparent Km value for enzyme activity on H2O2 was calculated to be 32.5 mmol/L. The activity of this catalase was not reduced by dithionite but was strongly inhibited by cyanide, azide, and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole (the specific inhibitor of monofunctional catalase). No peroxidase activity of this enzyme was detected when using o-dianisidine, diaminobenzidine (DAB) and p-phenylenediamine as electron donor. Moreover, the N-terminal sequence of this catalase exhibited substantial similarity to the monofunctional catalase subgroup rather than catalase-peroxidase or Mn-catalase one. Therefore, we characterize the purified catalase as a monofunctional catalase. Besides, this monofunctional catalase was thermosensitive and its activity exhibited pH-independent over pH 5-9 but showed a sharp maximum at pH 11. An activity half-life of approximately 49 h was measured when the enzyme was incubated at 20 degrees C and pH 11. To our knowledge, pH 11 is the most alkaline condition for optimum catalysis and enzyme stability among the catalases reported up to now. Furthermore, this monofunctional catalase also showed excellent halo-alkali-stability with a half-life of approximately 90 h at 0.5 mol/L NaCl and pH 10.5. On the other hand, so far as we know, the characterized catalase is the first dimeric monofunctional catalase from alkaliphiles and is also the first monofunctional catalase derived from a natural soda lake, which could partially reflect the oxidative stress response in the corresponding environment.
