1.Insulin resistance in the intrauterine growth retardation rats
Journal of Chongqing Medical University 1986;0(03):-
Objective:To investigate the endocrine functions of the islet ? cells and insulin sensitivity in the adult male rats, with intrauterine growth retardation induced by maternal starvation during pregnancy. Methods:The foods were available ad libitum throughout the pregnancy to the control group(n=8) and the rats in the experimental group(n=9) were fed 50% of the control group. The average birth weight of the offspring in the experimental group were below the mean values of the birth weights of the control group more than 2SD,defined as IUGR.The glucose tolerance test and hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp were done in the adult male offspring(n=9 for each group).Results:(1)Litter size was not affected by maternal undernutrition. The birth weights of the rats in the maternal starvation during the pregnancy were significantly lower(4.37?0.34g)than those in the control group(6.42?0.29g) as defined as IUGR.The postnatal survival rate of the IUGR rats(75.4%) is significantly lower than that of the normal offspring(94.9%).The mean weight of the IUGR male rats was still lower than that of control group (279.8?30.3g vs 341.3?36.6g,P
2.Surgical treatment of familial adenomatous polyposis
Chinese Journal of General Surgery 1997;0(04):-
Objective To study the clinical characteristic and the surgical treatment of the patients with familial adenomatous polyposis(FAP). Methods Retrospective analysis was made on the clinical feature and operative procedures of 28 patients with FAP in our hospital in recent 14 years. Of the 28 patients, 20 patients had familial history, 6 had cancerization. Results All the patients received operation, ileal pouch- anal anastomosis(IPAA) were performed on 25 cases(89.29%) , 3 cases underwent other operations. No severe complications had taken place postoperatively. All the patients received non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) or tamoxifen treatment. All the patients were followed-up for 2-14 years, 4 patients died(14.29%) during follow-up period. Life quality and bowel function after operation were good in the aliving patients. No polyp in ileum pouch was seen. Conclusions Surgical treatment is the main methods for FAP, it can prevent bowel polyp carceration. Use of NSAIDs or tamoxifen as an adjuvant treatment of FAP is useful in the prevention of FAP recurrence.
3.Impaired islet ?-cell function and insulin resistance in adult male rats born with intrauterine growth retardation
Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2003;0(04):-
Objective: To investigate the islet ?-cell function and insulin sensitivity in adult male rats born intrauterine growth retardation caused by uterine placenta insufficiency. Methods: Bilateral uterine artery ligation (UAL) was performed on day 17 of gestation in the pregnant Wistar rats; sham-operated pregnant rats served as controls. The birth weights of the offspring in the UAL group were below the mean values of the birth weights of the control group more than 2SD, defined as IUGR. The tests were done in the adult male offspring (n=9 for each group). The glucose tolerance test was processed and Modified Beta-Cell function Index (MBCI) was calculated to evaluating the islet ?-cell endocrine function. Hyperinsulinemic- euglycemic clamp, the gold standard method to test the insulin resistance in the periphereal tissue was performed and insulin induced glucose infusion rate (GIR) was used to evaluate the insulin sensitivity. Results: (1) Though the mean birth weight of the newborn in the UAL group(4.49?0.56)g is much more than two standard deviations below the mean weight of that of the control group(6.16?0.30)g,P
4.Effects of Storage Condition on Quality of Semen Armeniacae Amarum
Traditional Chinese Drug Research & Clinical Pharmacology 1993;0(01):-
Objective To observe the effects of storage condition on the quality of Semen Armeniacae Amarum. Methods Orthogonal design was adopted. The storage condition was optimized with temperature, humidity and storage time as the observation factors, with the content of amygdalin, and the content, acid value and peroxide value of fatty oil as the indexes. The content of fatty oil, acid value and peroxide value were measured according to the methods provided by 2005 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The content of amygdalin was measured by HPLC. Results Temperature was the main influencing factor of amygdalin content, then came humidity and storage time. Temperature was also the main influencing factor of the concent and the acid value of fatty oil,and the humidity was the second. For peroxide value, humidity was the main factor, then came temperature and storage time. Conclusion The optimal conditions of storing Semen Armeniacae Amarum as follows:storage in dry place with the temperature of 2~ 8 ℃,and in short storage time.

Objective To observe the effect of enhanced extracorporeal counterpulsation (EECP) on intraocular pressure (IOP). Methods 25 patients were measured their IOP bilaterally with Schoitz tonometer before and after EECP. Results The IOP decreased in both left and right eyes after EECP (P<0.01). Conclusion EECP can reduce intraocular pressure.
