Microbiology 1992;0(02):-
At the beginning of the 1980s, a concept of viable but non-culturable(VBNC) was suggested. VBNC is a survival strategy adopted by microorganisms when they are exposed to environmental stress. This article try to make a summary of research of the conditions of VBNC formation, recovery of culturability and methods of VBNC cells detection. In addition, introduces the first growth factor of microorganisms-Rpf.
6.Clinical value of nerve stimulator-versus ultrasound-guided continuous femoral nerve block for analgesia after laparoscopic surgery
Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2014;34(10):1204-1206
Objective To compare the clinical value of nerve stimulator-versus ultrasound-guided continuous femoral nerve block for analgesia after laparoscopic surgery. Methods Forty patients, aged 18-60 yr,with body mass index of 18-30 kg/m2,of ASA physical status Ⅰ or Ⅱ,scheduled for elective laparoscopic surgery, were randomly assigned into 2 groups (n =20 each) using a random number table:nerve stimulator group (group S) and ultrasound group (group U).Epidural anesthesia was performed with 1.73 % carbonated lidocaine in both groups.0.2% ropivacaine 5 ml/h was infused continuously after surgery to perform femoral nerve block for analgesia.VAS score at rest was assessed at 2,6,24 and 48 h after surgery. At 24 and 48 h after surgery,VAS scores during active and passive movement were assessed. The time for catheter placement near the femoral nerve and development of subcutaneous hematoma at the puncture site, local anesthetic intoxication and nausea and vomiting were recorded. The postoperative requirement for analgesics was also recorded. Results There was no significant difference in the VAS scores and puncture for femoral nerve block-and local anesthetics-related adverse events between the two groups. The time for catheter placement near the femoral nerve was 8.0 ± 1.4 and (6.7 ± 0.9) min in S and U groups, respectively, and the time was significantly longer in group S than in group U.No patients required rescue analgesic after surgery in both groups. Conclusion Nerve stimulator-guided continuous femoral nerve block provides higher clinical value than ultrasound-guided continuous femoral nerve block for analgesia after laparoscopic surgery and it is more suitable for clinical application.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2015;17(7):589-593
Objective To introduce a new computer-assisted external frame for osteotomy to correct complex tibial and fibular deformity. Methods From January 2012 to December 2013,15 patients with complex tibial and fibular deformity were treated with a computer-assisted external frame and related computer software for surgical correction. All were unilateral limb deformity, involving the left lower limb in 8 cases and the right lower limb in 7 cases. They were 8 males and 7 females,15 to 43 years of age (average,26.8 years). The deformity was caused by old osteomyelitis in 9 cases and trauma sequela in 6.The related angles, distances and rotations were measured on the postoperative radiographs of the lower limbs. The data were input into the software to calculate the daily adjustment lengths of the frame rods.Daily frame adjustments were conducted according to the data calculated. The frame was removed when expected results were achieved. The patients lived independently during the adjustment. Results The 15 patients were effectively followed up for 10 to 22 months (average,15 months).Frame fixation time averaged 8.4 months (from 5.5 to 13.1 months). The reunion time averaged 8.0 months (from 5.4 to 12.1 months). The hospitalization time averaged 2.4 months (from 2.0 to 2.8 months). In 10 cases of limb shortening, the shortening lengths averaged 0.5 cm (from 0 to 0.9 cm) after adjustment. In 12 cases of angulation deformity, the angulation averaged 3.3° (from 0° to 5.4°) after adjustment. In 5 cases of rotation deformity, the maximum internal rotation was 5° and the maximum external rotation 10° after correction, deviating from the normal values by 3.5° on average. In 6 cases of horizontal displacement, the displacements averaged 0.5 crn after correction. All patients were satisfactory with corrected lower limb alignment, improved symptoms and appearance, giving a subjective satisfaction rate of 100%.Conclusion Use of computer-assisted external frame in surgical correction of tibial and fibular deformity can achieve satisfactory outcomes in simple, accurate, standardized, minimally invasive manners.

Objective To probe into the mechanisms of bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) in osteosarcoma and to provide basis for gene therapy. Methods A 1.0 kb cDNA fragment of human BMP-2 gene was inserted reversely into PDOR and Human antisense BMP-2 retrovirus expression vector was constructed. The recombinant retroviral vector was transfected into human osteosarcoma cells OS-9901 with liposome AMINE that expressed abundant BMP. Positive cell clones were selected with G 418. The expression of BMP and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) was determined by immunohistochemical ABC methods. The osteosarcoma cell cycle was analysed by flowcytometry, and the changes were observed by electronmicroscope. Results The expression of cellular BMP and PCNA in the transfected osteosarcoma cells decreased obviously (t=24.01, 26.09, respectively, P

砄bjective:To purify and characterize human high molecular eight salivary mucin(MG1).Methods: MG1 was purified by 10%(w/v) cetyltrimethylammonium bromid precipitation, CM Sephadex ion exchange chromatography and sephadax G 200 gel filtration chromatography. The protein content was studied with Folinin Lowrys analysis and characterized by PAGE and SDS PAGE electrophoresis. Results:The data of PAGE showed that the purified glycoprotein was free of contaminating proteins;those SDS PAGE showed that the melocular weight of the glycoprotein was between Mr 500 000 and 1 000 000.Protein quantitative analysis showed that it contained 14.17% of protein.Amino acid analysis revealed that it contained 17 kinds of amino acid;Thr,Ser,Pro and ALa were the dominant amino acid(45.6% of the total). Conclusion: The data indicate the applied technique is reliable for purification MG1 from saliva.

0bjective: To observe the effects of parotid saliva(PARS), extraparotid saliva(EPS) and purified high molecular weight mucin(MG1) on the aggregation of streptococcus mutans . Methods: PARS, EPS and MG1 were prepared routinely and applied in the cultures of S. mutans Inbritt, S.mutans LM and S.sobrinus OMZ 176 respectively for 2 h. The aggregation of the bacteria was measured spectrophotometrically. Results: The aggregation (%) of S.mutans Inbritt, S.mutans LM and S.sobronus OMZ 176 induced by EPS was 32.80 , 57.87 and 35.46 , that by MGI 25.68, 32.77 and 24.16 , that by PARS 13.52, 22.23 and 16.00, respectively. Conclusion: The effect of MGI on the aggregation of streptoccus mutans is weaker than that of EPS and stronger than that of PARS. The aggregation may be primarily induced by mucins.
