1.Hedgehog signaling pathway and cartilage damage
Chinese Journal of Endemiology 2017;36(8):621-624
Hedgehog signaling pathway plays an key role in the process of endochondral bone formation, regulating the proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes in epiphyseal growth plate. In recent years, it has been found that abnormal expression of Hedgehog signaling pathway-related molecules is involved in a variety of osteoarthropathy. Therefore, studying the relationship between Hedgehog signaling pathway and cartilage damage is of great significance to elucidate the molecular mechanism of osteoarthropathy. In this paper, we focus on the research progress of Hedgehog signaling pathway in chondrocyte proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and cartilage matrix metabolism, which may provide new insights into mechanism and prevention of osteoarthropathy.
2.Recent development of research on the biotribology of carbon fiber reinforced poly ether ether ketone composites.
Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2014;31(6):1405-1418
Carbon fiber reinforced poly ether ether ketone (CF/PEEK) composite possesses excellent biocompatible, biomechanical and bioribological properties. It is one of the most promising implant materials for artificial joint. Many factors influence the bioribological properties of CF/PEEK composites. In this paper, the authors reviewed on the biotribology research progress of CF/PEEK composites. The influences of various factors such as lubricant, reinforcement surface modification, functional particles, friction counterpart and friction motion modes on the bio-tribological properties of CF/PEEK composites are discussed. Based on the recent research, the authors suggest that the further research should be focused on the synergistic effect of multiple factors on the wear and lubrication mechanism of CF/PEEK.

3.Effects of Bawei Xilei San on mice with oxazolone-induced colitis and the mechanisms.
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2010;8(6):568-74
Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effects of Bawei Xilei San (BWXLS), a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine, on mice with oxazolone-induced colitis and to explore the mechanisms. Methods: Thirty-two BALB/c mice were randomly divided into 4 groups (8 for each): normal control group, untreated group, hydrocortisone group and BWXLS group. Except for the mice in the normal control group, all mice were intrarectally administered with 3.0% oxazolone to induce colitis. Then the mice in the normal control group and untreated group were administered with 0.9% carboxymethyl cellulose sodium solution. Mice in the BWXLS group were intrarectally administered with 0.2 mg/g BWXLS and hydrocortisone group with 0.02 mg/g respectively for 5 days. The body weight and stool consistency and occult or gross blood were recorded to calculate the disease activity index (DAI). The mice were sacrificed at the 6th day. The macroscopic and histological changes of the colon were evaluated. The expressions of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB), and epithelial tight junction protein occludin were assessed by immunohistochemical method. The level of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) in colonic mucosa was evaluated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: The DAI, and macroscopic and histological changes in the BWXLS group were improved as compared with those in the untreated group (P<0.05) but were similar to those in the hydrocortisone group. The expression of occludin was significantly increased (P<0.05) while the expressions of TLR4, NF-kappaB and TNF-alpha were significantly decreased in the BWXLS group as compared with the untreated group, and were similar to those in the hydrocortisone group (P>0.05). Conclusion: Up-regulating the expression of occludin and down-regulating the expressions of TLR4 and NF-kappaB, and hence inhibiting TNF-alpha expression and improving the mucosa barrier function may be part of the mechanisms of BWXLS in treating oxazolone-induced colitis in mice.
4.Application of problem-based learning in internal medicine teaching for residency training of general medicine
Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2010;9(5):336-337
To evaluate the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) in internal medicine teaching for residency training of general medicine.Fifty two residents of general medicine were divided randomly into PBL teaching and traditional teaching groups with 26 in each. The evaluation was conducted in combination of examination scores and questionnaire survey in both groups. In questionnaire survey the residents of PBL group responded positively about the use of PBL in teaching, and rated themselves as having much better competencies in problem solving and self-directed learning. The scores of case analysis examination in PBL group were higher than those in traditional teaching group ( 73.7 ± 4.1 vs.71.1 ± 4.8, P < 0.05 ).The results suggest that the application of PBL has better effect than traditional teaching in residency training of general medicine.

6.Experimental studay on bridging the femoral defects with differently-treated allograft of cortical plates
Orthopedic Journal of China 2006;0(21):-
[Objective]To observe the effect of bridging rabbit femoral bone defect by allograft of cortical plates.[Method]Allograft of cortical plates of frozen bone group, alcohol group and fresh group were transplated randomly into rabbit femoral bone defecs. The rabbit femoral bone defects were harvested in the 4~(th),8~(th) and 12~(th) week after the tansplantation and the biological process of allograft of cortical plates in the rabbit were analysed biomechanically, radiologically and histologically.[Result]The flexion stress and translation of the frozen group, alcohol group and fresh group were almost equal in the 4~(th) week after transplantation and there were big difference between the former two groups and fresh group. From the X-ray allograft of cortical plates were fused with host bone in the alcohol group and no fusion in the fresh group. In the 4~(th) week osteocytes were found in the frozen group and alcohol group and no in the fresh group. In the 8~(th) week the consecutive array of osteocytes were found in the frozen group and alcohol group and a little in the fresh group. In the 12~(th) week lots of consecutive array of osteocytes were found in the frozen group and alcohol group than that in the fresh group.[Conclusion]The frozen and alcohol treated and fresh allograft of cortical plates have initial biomechanical support. The allograft of cortical bone frozed group and alcohol group can fuse with host bone and that of fresh group have less ability to fuse with host bone due to immunological rejection.
7.Analysis of 11 cases of paraneoplastic pemphigus
Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2014;47(10):715-718
Objective To investigate the clinical features, treatment and prognosis of paraneoplastic pemphigus (PNP).Methods A retrospective study was performed on 11 patients with PNP hospitalized in the Department of Dermatology,Ruijin Hospital.Clinical characteristics of these patients were analyzed. Results Of the 11 patients,10 had oral or labial erosions or ulcers, and 6 had obstructive bronchiolitis.Computed tomography (CT)showed solitary internal tumors in all the patients after appearance of skin lesions, and 8 of them were diagnosed with Castleman's disease. All the patients had been treated with corticosteroids before operation, but achieved no obvious improvement. After 2-7 months of postoperative treatment with low-dose prednisone and thalidomide, both cutaneous and mucosal lesions healed with the relief of pulmonary symptoms in 5 patients. Conclusions Oral erosions or ulcers appear to be the most common initial manifestation of PNP with Castleman's disease as the most frequent accompanying tumor.Early detection and timely resection of tumors are keys to successful treatment of PNP,and postoperative treatment with glucocorticoids and thalidomide proves to be effective for PNP.
8.Effects of angiotensinogen gene polymorphisms on the risk of coronary heart disease in the Chinese population: a meta-analysis
Journal of Geriatric Cardiology 2010;07(3):152-156
Objective Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a multifactorial disease. This meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between angiotensinogen gene polymorphisms and CHD in the Chinese population. Methods We searched literature in pubmed (1990-2010.8) and CNKI (1990-2010.8) for all the relevant studies on 2 angiotensinogen polymorphisms (M235T and T174M) and risk of CHD. The meta-analysis software Stata 10.0 was used for ascertaining heterogeneity among individual studies and for combining all the studies. Furthermore,Egger's test and sensitivity analysis were performed to insure authenticity of the outcome. Results Ten associations studies on 2 angiotensinogen polymorphisms (M235T and T174M) were included in this meta-analysis. In a combined analysis, the summary per-allele odds ratio for CHD of the M235T polymorphism was 1.374 (95% confidence interval, 1.019 to 1.852) and T174M polymorphism was 4.089 (95% confidence interval, 1.697 to 9.851). Conclusions The M235T polymorphism had weak but statistically significant association with CHD while the T174M polymorphism was more strongly associated with a CHD risk in Chinese population, but further confirmation studies are needed.
