International Journal of Surgery 2008;35(9):601-604
Objective To study the clinical effects of breast-preserving surgery in early-stage breast cancer. Methods From March 2002 to March 2007, 27 cases of early-stage breast cancer were treated with breast-preser-ving surgery. The control group had 28 cases, treated with radical mastectomy. Survival rate and recurrence rate were observed. Results The short-term progress of breast-preserving surgery in early-stage breast cancer had no significant difference with that of radical mastectomy. Plastic effects of breast were satisfied. Conclusion Breast- preserving surgery in early-stage breast cancer had favorable effects both in progress and in plastic. Therefore, it is warranted for wide use.

411 subjects were divided into six groups according to their FPG levels. And OGTT was carried out.Result showed that along with the FPG increasing, HOMA ?-cell index and ?I30 /?G30 were decreased progressively, and the fasting serum proinsulin level and ratio of proinsulin /insulin were increased markedly. The area under insulin curve decreased gradually when FPG was above 8 mmol/L. In conclusion, FPG is a reflection of islet ? cell function.

Objective To investigate the resistance-related genes of Shigella sonnei with decreased susceptibility to fluoroquinolones.MethodsA total of 131 strains of Shigella sonnei were analyzed for their antimicrobial susceptibility.Mutations within the quinolone resistance determining regions (QRDR) of gyrA and parC were detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and PCR products were then sequenced. Meanwhile, the plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance (PMQR) genes, qnr and aac(6')-Ib-cr were screened by PCR.ResultsResistance rates of 131 Shigella sonnei isolates to nalidixic acid, tetracycline, ampicillin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole were 100.0%,93.9%,93.2% and 92.8%,respectively.All strains were susceptible to norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, while 94% nalidixic acid-resistant Shigella sonnei strains showed reduced susceptibilities to fluoroquinolones. All of nalidixic acid-resistant Shigella sonnei strains presented a single mutation at codon 83 (Ser→Leu) of gyrA genes, but no mutations were detected in parC gene. And PMQR genes qnr and aac (6’)-Ib-cr were not detected. Conclusions The nalidixic acid-resistant Shigella sonnei strains with reduced susceptibility to fluoroquinolones are common in the clinical practice, which may mainly due to a single mutation at codon 83 (Ser→Leu) of gyrA genes.

ABSTRACT:Objective To validate that relaxin can resist hepatic fibrosis at the cellular level and explore its molecular mechanism in order to provide experimental basis for the treatment of liver cirrhosis. Methods Cultured HSC-T6s were treated with different concentrations (20,50 and 100 ng/mL)of recombinant human relaxin-2 (RLX-2).The proliferation of HSC-T6 was measured by MTT colorimetric assay. The content of type Ⅰcollagen in the cell culture supernatant of each group was detected by ELISA at 48 h of drug intervention;RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expressions of CTGF and TGF-β1 in HSC-T6 at 48 h of drug intervention. Results RLX-2 inhibited the proliferation of HSC and reduced type Ⅰ collagen content of HSC cells. It also inhibited the CTGF mRNA expression of HSC,but did not have a significant effect on the expression of TGF-β1 mRNA. Conclusion In the experiment of culturing HSC-T6 in vitro,RLX-2 may play a role in rat liver fibrosis by inhibiting cell proliferation and type Ⅰ collagen and CTGF mRNA expressions.

Microbiology 1992;0(02):-
Biotrickling filter often offers a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional air pollutant control technologies, but major problems with clogging of the filters due to a high biomass accumulation will provent it from the industried uses.In this paper, the effect of the high biomass accumulation in an air pollution treatment with a biotrickling filter is discussed. Two parameters with specific surface area with biofilm growth(?_ f ) and the bed porosity with biofilm(?_ f )are used to analyse its principle of accumulation. Finally, some control measures including chemical methods, physical machine-made methods and other control methods are overviewed.

Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2014;(11):4-7
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) developed rapidly in the world, but the TCM international standard system has not been established, affecting the healthy development of TCM. To develop TCM international standardization strategy must master the current technical legislation and regulation status related to TCM. Through TM/CAM legislative investigation of the 4 Participating Countries of ISO/TC249 in western Pacific region, the author found that:Member states already have national policy on TM/CAM; laws and regulations on herbal product production, marketing, regulatory and management practitioners have already been enacted;TM/CAM practitioners in larger quantities, a higher education was required for practitioners and standardized management. This indicated that there is a good environment for TCM development in western Pacific region.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2008;6(4):352-4
OBJECTIVE: To study the risk factors for severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) complicated by pancreatic encephalopathy (PE). METHODS: Clinical data from 255 patients with SAP from January 2005 to December 2006 were reviewed. Thirty-one SAP patients had PE, and 224 SAP patients did not. Clinical characteristics of SAP patients in both PE group and non-PE group were analyzed. RESULTS: Ranson scale and the incidence rates of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), renal failure, hypoproteinemia, hypocalcemia and hyperglycosemia in PE group were higher than those in non-PE group (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II and CT severity index scales, the activities of amylase and lipase, the incidence rate of liver function failure, the infection rate and the operability between the PE group and the non-PE group (P>0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that ARDS and hyperglycosemia were high risk factors. Cure rate in PE group was higher than that in non-PE group. CONCLUSION: Nosogenesis of PE is the result of multiple factors. ARDS and hyperglycosemia may be the high risk factors for PE.

To examine the relationship between genetic variants in the interleukin-6 receptor gene and obesity. The result showed that the carriers of Asp358 homozygotes had higher risk in developing obesity when compared with Ala358 homozygotes (OR = 1.32,95% CI 1.07-1.68, P = 0. 041). Interleukin-6 receptor gene pulymorphism was significantly associated with obesity.

Objective To study the effects of Batroxobin( BX) on the intimal proliferation of graft veins. Methods In this study 25 dogs were selected and evenly divided into experimental group, control group and sham operation group. In experiment and control group, a segment of auto- femoral vein were grafted into femoral artery by clean microsurgery technique. In experimental group, BX was given at the dosage of 0. 1 BU/kg, dayly?2 preoperatively, and once a day for consecutive 6 days postoperatively. Plasma NO, ET was determined in the three groups. Computer image analysis system was applied to calculate the thickness of neointima and media in the vein grafts, immunohistochemistry was used to identify PCNA and C-myc. Result The experimental group had a higher level of NO and lower level of ET compared with control group and sham operation group(P 0. 05 ). The PCNA expression in experimental group was statistically different from that of the control group(P
