The injury of peripheral nerve is generally accompanied with active regeneration responses. This paper is to summarize the molecular mechanism to promote the nerve regeneration, including various reactions of the neuronal body, nerve fiber, and regulatory molecules in the microenvironment, such as transcription factors, inflammatory mediators, nerve growth factors, etc., aiming to investigate the possible mechanism in the nerve regeneration after injury.

BACKGROUND:In the past, the culture and differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem celsin vitrowere mostly reported in the adult or animal rather than in children.
OBJECTIVE: To explore the ability of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels from children differentiating into neural stem cels and nerve cels.
METHODS: Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels from children were isolated and cultured, and passage 12 cels were cultured in the pre-induction medium (DMEM culture medium containing 10% fetal bovine serum and 1 mmol/L β-mercapto ethanol) and induction medium (DMEM containing 2% dimethyl sulfoxide and 150 μmol/L butylated hydroxyanisole). Expression of nestin and β-tublin III was detected using immunocytochemistry method at 30 minutes and 7 days after induction, while RT-PCR was used to detect nestin mRNA expression at 0, 5.5, 6 days after induction.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: After combined induction, the cels shrank from round shape to tapered, polygonal or oval shape, and cel processes extended gradualy and became filament-like shape. Interconnected cels formed a network at 6 days after combined induction. The expression of nestin antigen was positive at 30 minutes after induction, while the expression of β-tublin was positive at 7 days. RT-PCR findings showed that positive expression of nestin mRNA was detected at 5.5 hours of induction, and then disappeared at 6 days. These findings show that the combined use of dimethyl sulfoxide and butylated hydroxyanisole can induce bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels from children to differentiate into neural stem cels and nerve cels in vitro.

Methods Bibliometric analysis was used to analyze articles published in Journal of International Oncology from 2000 to 2009, including the quantity analysis, ration of fund-aided articles and authors analysis. Results 2 551 pieces of articles were published, including 182 pieces of original articals, 2 198 pieces reviews and 171 pieces of abstracts, and the density was 0. 3 piece per page. Fund-aided articles were 536 pieces and the ration of fund-aided articles was 0. 21. Fundaided articles and the ration were rising in these ten years. The authors distributed widely and came from 29 province, autonomous region or municipality under the direct control of the Central Government. Author cooperation degree was 1.6 in general, 1.4 in reviews and 4.3 in original articls. Conclusion Articles in this journal are from various sources, and the ratio of fund-aided articles is high. Most original articles have high author cooperation degree. Journal of International Oncology has a very high utilization value in professional population.

Objective To explore the image quality of gastric cancer improved by dual-energy CT,and to evaluate the clinical utility in staging gastric cancers. Methods 55 patients suspected gastric cancers were included in the study.Patients underwent dual-phasic scans using dual-energy CT with a dual-source scanner. The relationships image quality parameters in 100 kV,120 kV and 70 keV images were evaluated.Image quality parameters comprised mean density,signal-to noise ratio (SNR) and objective noise. The 120 kV and 70 keV images were compared in TNM staging. Results In arterial and portal phase, the attenuation was significantly higher at 70 keV and 100 kV compared to 120 kV images (P<0.001).In arterial phase, the SNR were higher at 120 kV and 70 keV in comparison to 100 kV(P<0.01).In portal phase, the SNR were higher at 70 keV in comparison to 120 kV and 100 kV(P<0.01).Overall accuracy in assessment of tumor invasion of the gastric wall (T stage) was 83.7% with 70 keV images and 72.1% with 120 kV images, this difference was not significant (P=0.25);Overall accuracy for lymph node (N) staging was significantly better with 70 keV images(74.4%) than with 120 kV images(62.8%) (P<0.05).Conclusion The image quality of gastric cancers using dual-energy CT can be improved by optimizing the energy level. The 70 keV images may be used to improve the N-staging accuracy.

Objective To explore the changing rule of schistosomiasis endemic situation in Gaoyou City,so as to provide the evidences for schistosomiasis control in lake and marshland regions. Methods The endemic data of schistosomiasis of Gaoy?ou City from 1970 to 2009 were collected to analyze the endemic patterns of schistosomiasis in different control stages compre?hensively. Results In the first years of infection control stage(1970-1975),transmission control stage(1976-1994)and transmission interruption stage(1995-2009),the prevalence rates of schistosomiasis were 4.20%,0.80%and 0 in human and 3.00%,0.51%and 0 in cattle respectively. In 1984,the positive rate of crowd stool tests fell to 0.04%,which was reduced by 99.05%compared with that in 1970. From 1970 to 1980,the positive rates of stool tests of people and livestock were positively correlated significantly(r=0.67,P<0.05). After 1985,no local infection patients or cattle were found. No schistosome infect?ed Oncomelania hupensis snails were found from 1970 to 2009. Conclusion The comprehensive control measures have been insisted in Gaoyou City in different prevention and control stages. Although the snail situation is undulate, the prevalence of schistosomiasis steadily declines and the interruption of transmission has achieved.

Myelin of the adult mammalian central nervous system(CNS)has been attributed to affect nerve structural plasticity and suppress regeneration of nerve fibers.Nogo-A is possibly the best characterized of a variety of neurite growth inhibitors in CNS myelin.Neutralizing its activity results in improved axon regrowth and functional recovery in experimental spinal cord injury(SCI)models of animals.Nogo-A and its receptors, especially Nogo-66 receptor(NgR),p75 neurotrophin receptor(p75NTR),and LINGO-1 increasingly become the hot spot in the study of SCI repair, and have become the major targets for therapeutic intervention to promote axon regeneration after SCI.Inhibition of Nogo-A and its receptors NgR/p75NTR/LINGO-1 may be promote the regeneration of axon and maximize functional recovery after SCI.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the feasibility and safety of endoscopic intraductal radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for unresectable malignant biliary strictures.MethodsA total of 12 patients with malignant biliary obstructions, who were unsuitable for surgical resection, were prospectively selected for this study.During ERCP,when successful biliary cannulation achieved,a bipolar radiofrequency probe was introduced into bile duct over a guidewire.RFA was given to the tumor lesion under fluoroscopy, followed by stent placement. The patients were closely observed and followed up after the procedure.ResultsSuccessful RFA was achieved in all patients before stents insertion ( plastic and metal stents in 6 respectively, additional pancreatic stents were given to 3).Mild complications of cholangitis and pancreatitis occurred in 1 patient respectively, which were cured with short-term management.Jaundice was promptly controlled in 7 patients (58.3% ).During the mean follow-up duration of 3.4 (range 0.5-5.5) months, one patient died of cardiocerebral accident and others survived without obvious disconffort. The 1- month and 3- month stent patency was 100% (12/12) and 80% (8/10),respectively.ConclusionIt is technically feasible and safe to perform endoscopic intraductal RFA for the palliation of biliary malignancies. The short-term outcome is satisfying,however,long-term result and the better therapeutic schedule need further evaluation.
