To investigate whether the calcium channel blocker amlodipine could inhibit macrophage matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) expression and secretion. Methods Peritoneal macrophages were isolated from BALB/C mice and incubated with low (5μg/L), middle (15μg/L) and high (305μg/L) concentrations of amlodipine, or in the medium alone (controls) for 24 hours, and the expression and secretion of MMP-2 and MM-9 of the cells were analyzed by RT-PCR and gelatin zymography. Results Compared with controls, amlodipine at low concentration had no significant effects on the expression and secretion of either MMP-2 and MMP-9 (P>0.05);at middle concentrationit it could inhibited MMP-2 and MMP-9 expressions completely and significantly reduced the secretion of MMP-9 (P<0.05); but it had no effect on the secretion of MMP-2. At high concentration it also inhibited MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression completely. Conclusion Amlodipine at 15 ìg/L inhibited the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 and reduced the secretion of MMP-9, suggesting that amlodipine may stabilize atherosclerotic plaque.

In order to clarify the cellulose-utilizing mechanism of the Cerambycidae, the microorganism in the Apriona germari(Hope) larvae's gut was cultured and identified. A strain of facultative anaerobic cellulose-utilizing bacteria was isolated from the midgut fluid of A. germari larvae with the cellulose-congo red agar medium. The colonies of the bacteria were white and round with regular margin. Clear zones of cellulolysis surrounding the colonies might reach 10m~20mm. The size of the bacteria was 0.5μm~0. 8μm× l~3μm approximately. The cell was gram-positive rod with polar flagella. It hadn't spores. With the results of biochemical tests, the bacteria were tentatively identified as Cellulomonas.

Objective To assess the epidemiological characteristics of hypertension and its attributing factors in Heilongjiang province and establish a comprehensive basis for the prevention and control of hypertension in this region. Methods Using the stratified chunk method, a survey lasting 50 years was conducted on a sample of 299 677 (including i 58 782 males and 140 895 females) patients, aged 15 and above, residing in both rural and urban areas of Heilongjiang province from 1958 to 2007. Both blood pressure measurement and analysis on attributing factors of hypertension were carried out in 1958, 1979, 1991, 1999 and 2007. Results The prevalence of hypertension was significantly higher in Heilongjiang than in other provinces. It elevated annually, reaching a 3-fold increase in 50 years with an accelerating pace ( 17.06% to 25. 69% ) in the recent 8 years. Among the people examined, the prevalence of hypertension increased with aging. Furthermore, the prevalence of hypertension varied among different professions. Office workers had the highest prevalence (41.67%). Compared with female population, male participants had a much higher prevalence before the age of 55 (P < 0.0001 ). Body mass index, gender, hypertriglyceridemia, age, low-high density lipoprotein cholesterol and family history were identified as major risk factors for the development of hypertension in Heilongjiang province. However, the awareness (48. 90% ), treatment (25.33%) and control (4. 32% ) rates of hypertension in this region were relatively low. Conclusion The results of the present study identified Heilongjiang province as a high-risk region for hypertension. It also suggests the necessity to plan and implement actions for the effective prevention and treatment of hypertension in this region.

OBJECTIVETo assess the epidemiology features of hypertension in Heilongjiang Province, China.
METHODSFrom 1959 to 1999, 289,157 people in total, ages > or = 15-year old (male 154,091, female 135,066) were investigated four times by a stratified chunk method in rural and urban areas in Heilongjiang Province. After a staff training program, this survey on blood pressure and risk factors was carried out under a worldwide uniform protocol with standardized method and interrelated quality control regulation. Among these samples, 1615 people (male 824, female 791) received blood-lipid analysis.
RESULTSThe hypertensive incidence of Heilongjiang was much higher than the average level in China (P < 0.01) and it has gotten higher from 1959 to 1999, especially in the last ten years. It increased more in males than in females (P < 0.01). It was also higher with age. The mean age of hypertensive onset became ten years younger recently. It is different in different areas and professions. Age, BMI (body mass index), drinking alcohol, gender, history of maternal hypertension, high salt diet and professional status were the main risk factors for hypertension in Heilongjiang Province in China.
CONCLUSIONThe prophylaxis and treatment of hypertension should be enhanced in this area.

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of providing nasogastric (NG), nasojejunal (NJ), and parenteral nutrition (PN) support to pancreatitis patients who were intolerant to oral feeding. Methods:One hundred pancreatitis patients who were intolerant to oral feeding treated at the Xuanwu Hospital of the Capital Medical University from October 2018 to September 2020 were retrospectively studied. They were divided into three groups based on the nutritional support given to them: the NG group, NJ group, and PN group. The acute physiology and chronic health evaluation Ⅱ(APACHEⅡ), nutritional risk screening 2002 (NRS2002), hemoglobin, albumin, pre-albumin and other clinical data were recorded and compared among the three groups. Results:After nutrition support treatments, the hemoglobin, albumin and pre-albumin levels were significantly better than before giving nutrition support, and the APACHE Ⅱ scores were significantly improved in all the groups. The NRS2002 scores were significantly better in the NJ group ( Z=2.28, P=0.023) and the NG group ( Z=1.99, P=0.046). With compared to the PN group, the albumin and pre-albumin levels were significantly higher in the NG and NJ groups, and the NRS2002 score after giving nutrition support treatment was significantly lower ( P<0.05). Compared with the PN group, the APACHE Ⅱ score ( t=2.18) and the hemoglobin levels ( t=2.04) were significantly better in the NJ group ( P<0.05). The overall incidence of complications in the NJ group was 41.2% (14/34), which was significantly lower than the NG group [78.8%(26/33), χ 2=5.41, P=0.020] and the PN group [66.7% (22/33), χ 2=4.35, P=0.037]. Conclusion:Enteral nutrition support through NG and NJ are better than PN in acute pancreatitis patients who were intolerant to oral feeding.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the comorbidity rate of depression symptoms in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) in Henan province and to ascertain the risk factors.
METHODSOne thousand three hundred and twenty-seven patients with OSAHS determined by overnight polysomnogram (PSG) were enrolled in this study. After screening the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), the patients were divided into two groups: OSAHS (control group, n = 698) and OSAHS+depression (n = 629). The correlation was explored between the depression symptoms in patients with OSAHS and the sociodemographic variables and health status including smoking, drinking, marital status, apnea hyponea index (AHI), anoxicity, Family Burden Scale of Disease (FBS), Family APGAR Index (APGAR), Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS) and so on. Furthermore, In-depth analyses were carried out between the depression symptoms in patients with OSAHS and the social and family factor items (FBS, APGAR and PSSS).
RESULTSThe comorbidity rate of depression symptoms in patients with OSAHS in Henan province was 47.4%, and was correlated with the gender, marital status, FBS, APGAR, AHI, PSSS and anoxicity. Logistic regression analysis indicated that single marital status, APGAR, AHI, PSSS, hypoxemia and heart disease were all independent risk factors for depression in OSAHS patients. The total of the FBS score and three of its subfactors scores (family daily activities, family relationships and mental health of family members) were higher, and the total of the APGAR score and two of its subfactors scores (adaptabilith and affection) were lower in OSAHS with depression compared with the control group (P < 0.05). Besides, the total score for the PSSS AND Scores for its two subfactors (family support and social support) were all lower in OSAHS patients with depression than those of the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONIn patients with OSAHS, depression symptoms are common and are associated with marital status, AHI, anoxicity, concomitant diseases (hypertension, heart disease), concerns and supports from the family and society.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2024;65(3):256-260
This paper explored the disease mechanism of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) from the perspectives of “vital activity” and “qi configuration”, and it is believed that “vital activity” represents the internal regulatory mechanisms of the human body, while “qi configuration” represents the ability of the body to communicate and adapt to the external environment. Abnormal genetic factors lead to the extinction of vital activity in children with ASD, resulting in increased susceptibility to ASD. Environmental instability leads to the solitary qi configuration in ASD, triggering and exacerbating the manifestations of ASD on the basis of genetic susceptibility. In addition, epigenetic mechanisms also play an important role in the pathogenesis of ASD. Imbalances in vital activity and disruptions in qi configuration result in failure in qi transformation of zang-fu organs, with abnormal symptoms manifested through the five orifices. It is proposed that the treatment of ASD should aim to achieve a harmonious interaction between “vital activity” and “qi configuration” to accelerate the recovery of affected children.
