Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2012;37(3):311-315
The increasing magnetic strengths used for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) combined with a greater number of MRI patients with cochlear implants (CIs) raises possible safety issues. This paper reviews the interactions between MRI and CI,and assesses MRI compatibility and safety of CIs at 0.2,0.3,1.0,1.5 and 3.0 tesla (T).In a word,CIs represent a significantcontraindication to MRI.Only after careful evaluation of the individual risk and careful preparations can an MRI be safely performed.

Chinese Journal of Practical Gynecology and Obstetrics 2001;17(2):90-92
ObjectiveTo investigate relationship between the degree of placenta praevia, vaginal bleeding and clinical outcomes. MethodsRecords of 89 patients with placenta praevia(mild praevia group 43; severe praevia group 46) were reviewed retrospectively, and outcomes were compared. ResultsThe gestational age at the first bleeding and diagnosis was significantly smaller in severe group than that in mild one (P<0.05). The incidence of antepartum haemorrhage, the times of bleeding and the episodes of heavy bleeding in two groups showed no significant differences(P>0.05). The gestational age at diagnosis and delivery and birthweight were significantly smaller in women with antepartum bleeding than in those without( P<0.01 ). The number of deliveries by emergency caesarean section in women with antepartum bleeding was significantly higher than that in those without (P<0.01). ConclusionThe clinical outcomes of placenta praevia are highly variable. There are no obvious clinical features that are typical in predicting the clinical outcomes. The number of bleeding episodes and the degree of praevia are not associated with outcomes, so they can't be the proof to determine the treatment plan ahead of time.

Etrotic Company produced thermoplastic diaphragm (ERKOLODC-pro, 595115) can be shaped according to dental arch form under vacuum heating pressure, resulting in good fixation and baffle effect. Nine cases with soft and hard palate defect caused by tumor, who needed the repair of temporal obturator prosthesis made by thermoplastic diaphragm (1.5 mm of thickness), were selected in this study at the Department of Stomatology, General Hospital of Chinese PLA from September 2006 to January 2007. Different diaphragms were used according to periodontal status. Only one case with more soft palate defect felt naupathia when wore this kind of denture near throat. After 1 week, the uncomfortable feeling disappeared. Three patients felt pain, and the main reason is tissue dropsy around wound entry and denture crackdown. After grinding, pain disappeared. This indicated that no adverse reaction in biocompatibility was detected between thermoplastic diaphragm and host. Temporal prosthesis can improve swallowing and voiced function of soft and hard palate defect patients by closing nasal cavity.

International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2012;(11):843-848
Objective To investigate the effect of tumor necrosis factor receptor 1 (TNFR1) in angiogenesis and neurogenesis during cerebral ischemia in mice. Methods Twenty-four wild-type and 24 TNFR1 knockout mice were randomly divided into either a sham operation group or a focal cerebral ischemia group (n =12 in each group).5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) was injected intraperitoneally at day 3 after cerebral ischemia and sham operation. At day 7 and 28 after cerebral ischemia, the double-label immunofluorescence staining of glucose transporter-1(Glut-1)/BrdU was used to evaluate the angiogenesis surrounding the areas of infarction.A labeled BrdU was used to detect the neural stem cell proliferation in the subventricular zone.Double-labeled doublecortin (DCX)/BrdU and neuronal nuclei antigen (NeuN)/BrdU were used to detect the migration and survival of neural stem cells, respectively. Results Under the normal condition, there was no significant difference in angiogenesis and the number of BrdU-positive cells in the subependymal zone (SVZ) between the wild-type (418.000 ± 28.404) and TNFR1 knockout (528.000 ± 60.597) mice (t =-1.644,P =0.131).At day 7 after cerebral ischemia, the number of Glut-1/BrdU-positive cells in the TNFR1 knockout mice was significantly less than that in the wild-type mice (14.833 ± 2.182 vs.27.5 ± 4.209) (t =2.672,P =0.023),and the number of DCX/B3rdU-positive cells was also significantly less than that in the wild-type mice (163.000 ± 11.106 vs.257.168 ± 12.213) (t =5.705,P =0.000).At day 28 after cerebral ischemia, the number of NeuN/BrdU-positive cells in the TNFR1 knockout mice was significantly less than that in the wildtype mice (6.000 ± 0.577 vs.11.000± 1.571) (t=2.988,P=0.014).Conclusions TNFR1 may play a promoting role in the neurovascular reggeneration in late cerebral ischemia.
9.Randomized and controlled study of the effect of rosiglitazone on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in type 2 diabetic patients
Chinese Journal of Diabetes 2008;16(12):708-710
Objective To observe the effect of rosiglitazone on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods The 95 newly diagnosed type 2 diabetics with CT scan displayed NAFLD were enrolled and divided into three groups randomly:(1) rosiglitazone group (R group) were treated for six months with rosiglitazone,4mg once daily,(2) metformin group (M group) were treated with metformin,0.5g three times daily,(3) control group were treated with other medicines except for thiazolidinedione and metformin. Results The CT value ratio of liver to spleen, disappearance rate of fatty liver and ISI were much higher in R group than in M group, while those were much higher in M group than in control group. HOMA-IR was lowest in R group and highest in control group. FIns in R group and M group was much lower than in control group. Conclusions Rosiglitazone can treat NAFLD,increase the insulin sensitivity and improve the insulin resistance in T2DM patients. The therapeutic effects of rosiglitazone are better than metformin. Rosiglitazone has no damage on liver function in our study

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2016;(2):169-171
As one subclass of forkhead proteins, the forkhead box O ( FoxO) transcription factors take part in a series of bio-logical processes including cellular apoptosis, damaged DNA re-pair and cleavage of reactive oxygen species(ROS). Increasing evidence highlights that oxidative stress elicited by FoxOs con-tributes to imbalance of redox status in cells related to bone me-tabolism, resulting in development of the pathogenesis of osteo-porosis. This article reviews the relationship of FoxOs and osteo-porosis, which may be beneficial for the research of pathological mechanism and therapeutic strategy of osteoporosis.
