Objective To explore the relation between thyroid nodular and thyroid calcification .Methods The clinical data of 430 cases with nodular goiter admitted from January 2011 to December 2013 were reviewed.All cases were performed ultrasonography and pathologic examination .Results Of 430 cases,there was thyroid carcinoma in 49 cases(11.4%),including microcalcification in 30 cases(61.2%) and macrocalcification in 3 cases(6.1%);benign lesion in 381 cases(88.6%),including microcalcification in 24 cases(6.3%) and macrocalcification in 39 cases(10.2%).The difference was remarkable (P=0.000).There was remarkable difference in malignant calci-fied nodules ratio between the patients with microcalcification and macrocalcification (55.6%vs 7.1%,P=0.000), between the patients aged 45 years below and above(48.8%vs 22.6%,P=0.007),between the patients with solita-ry and multiple nodules(45.0%vs 16.7%,P=0.005).But there was no statistic difference in malignant calcified nodules ratio between the male and female groups (24.2% vs.39.7%,P=0.130).Conclusion Microcalcification is a highly specific sign to predict thyroid carcinoma in ultrasonography exam .Positive intervention will be performed immediately when calcification appears in thyroid nodules .

Purpose To investigate the expression of insulin-like growth factorIImRNA binding protein 3 ( IMP3 ) and microvessel density (MVD) in squamous carcinoma of the cervix (SCC) and analysis their relationship in SCC. Methods The expression of IMP3 and MVD was examined by immunohistochemistry SP method in normal cervical epithelium ( NCE) , low-grade cervical intraepi-thelial neoplasia (CIN-L), high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN-H) and SCC. Results (1)The positive expression rates of IMP3 in NCE, CIN-L, CIN-H, SCC tissues were 0(0/15), 0(0/11), 37.5%(9/24) and 86.0%(43/50), the difference was statistically significant (x 2 =53.345, P=0.000). IMP3 expression was significant difference among NCE and CIN-H, SCC (P<0.008 3), and that was also among SCC and CIN-L, CIN-H (P<0.008 3). (2)The MVD count was increased with the development of cervical squamous lesion, there was significant difference among those groups (F=145.968, P<0.01), and the difference was al-so statistically significant between every two groups (P<0.05). The positive expression of IMP3 and MVD count in 50 cases of SCC tissues showed statistical difference in different pathologic grade, lymph node metastasis, and depth of tumor invasion groups ( P<0.05), but didn't in different patients’age groups (P>0.05). And the positive expression of IMP3 was closely related with MVD count in SCC tissues (rs =0.323, P<0.05). Conclusion IMP3 plays an important role in the occurrence, infiltration and metasta-sis of SCC, and the abnormal expression of IMP3 may relate with the angiogenesis of tumors.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effects and safety of trabeculectomy combined with Schlemm canal suture implantation in patients POAG). Design Retrospective, noncomparative case series. Participants 11 patients (19 eyes)with POAG. Methods Two layers of scleral flap were made and the deeper one was dissected. The outer wall of Schlemm canal was cut away. 6-0 nylon thread was implanted between the two cut ends of the canal. Penetrating trabeculectomy was performed and followed with peripheral iridectomy. Superficial scleral flap was sutured. Main Outcome Measures The postoperative observation included intraocular pressure (IOP), formation of the anterior chamber, inflammatory reaction, visual acuity, complications and situation of filtering bleb. Results The mean postoperative follow-up period was 18.05?12.78 months (ranging from 6 to 48 months). There was significant statistical difference between preoperative and postoperative IOPs(31.23?9.72mmHg VS 15.11?6.13mmHg) (t=6.769, P=0.000). The postoperative investigation of IOP for 11 cases (19 eyes) after using medicine showed that IOP≥22mmHg only 1 case. The efficiency was 94.74%. Filtering blebs formed in 6 cases (8 eyes)(42.11%), including the case with IOP≥22mmHg. There was no significant difference in change of preoperative and postoperative IOP in patients with or without filtering blebs with t-test (t=-1.662, P=0.071). The anterior chamber formed well in each case postoperatively. Hyphemia appeared in 4 eyes (21.05%). Hypertonia oculi (IOP≥22mmHg) and hypotonia oculi (IOP≤6mmHg) appeared occasionally in 3 eyes(15.78%) and 11 eyes(57.89%) respectively. Postoperatively,no fibrinous exudates in anterior chamber, choroidal detachment and other complications occurred in any case. Conclusions The control of IOP appears to be good after the surgery of trabeculectomy combined with Schlemm canal suture implantation. It is a promising approach for glaucoma and good with fewer postoperative complications, easier postoperative management and deserve further development.

Objective To observe colorectal tumor's growth in hyperglycemia mice and its vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)'s expression, insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1)'s variation of blood through the experiment, then to ascertain whether type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) danger factors to promote colorectal cancer happen and progress or not. Methods The mouse model of colorectal cancer combined T2DM was established. The volume of tumor was observed. After 5 weeks, all mice were executed and IGF-1 in the blood and the expression of VEGF in the tumor tissue was examined. Results The average tumor volume of colorectal tumor-diabetes group [(1628.5±882) mm3] were larger than that of colorectal tumor group [(1950.2±726) mm3] (P <0.05), and its expression IGF-1 of blood [(105.33±32.32) ng/ml] were higher than that of the control group [(69.83±25.57) ng/ml] and colorectal tumor group [(70.17±25.27) ng/ml] (P <0.05). The expression of VEGF [(70.0±11.5)%] in colorectal tumor-diabetes group were significantly higher than that of colorectal tumor group [(42.9±7.5)%] (P <0.05), too. Conclusion The model of T2DM and transplanted colorectal tumor can be duplicated successfully in ICR mice. Diabetes mellitus may be one reason of promoting colorectal cancer progress. Besides high blood glucose, its mechanism is the high level of IGF-1 which can inhibit apoptosis, promote cell differentiation and hyperplasia, and through inducing VEGF duplicating, heighten its expression, promote the tumor vessel growth, lead to tumor happen and metastasis.

Objective:To measure the clivo-axial angle (CAA)and cervicomedullary angle (CMA)in upper cervical deformity patients who underwent computer-assisted posterior upper cervical reduction and fixation surgery,and analyze their correlation.Methods:In the study,25 patients with symptomatic upper cervical deformity were chosen for measurement of preoperative and postoperative CMA and CAA using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)and intraoperative C-arm.The angle between the clivus plane and the straight line parallel to that of the posterior margin of the C2 vertebral body was defined as CAA;moreover,the angle between the straight line parallel to the ventral side of the cervical spinal cord and the straight line parallel to that of the ventral side of the medulla oblongata was defined as CMA.Two ex-perienced spinal surgeons performed the measurements.The CAA and CMA were measured three times, and the mean value was considered as the result.Results:Analyses of the CAA and CMA were per-formed with Wilcoxon rank test,which showed that there was consistency between the CAAs measured with MRI and intraoperative C-arm.The result showed that the postoperative CAA and CMA increased significantly compared with preoperation (P<0.001).Through Spearman rank correlation analysis,the preoperative CAA was positively correlative with the CMA (r=0.902,P<0.001),and so was the post-operative CAA (r=0.921,P<0.001).Conclusion:Preoperative and postoperative CAA in upper cer-vical deformity patients is significantly correlative with preoperative and postoperative CMA.CAA can be measured during surgery using intraoperative CT or C-arm based three-dimension navigation,and may predict the patient’s CMA,which cannot be measured during operation,but is essential for evaluating the decompression and reduction of the spinal cord.

To understand the Escherichia coli (E .coli) O157∶ H7 isolated from cow in Zhengzhou ,Henan Province ,a total of 146 samples of cow fecal and milk were collected in the different farms ,and E .coli O157∶ H7 was detected with mul-tiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in our laboratory .Then the biochemical characteristics ,growth dynamic ,the biofilm formation ,and the toxin genes of the E .coli O157∶ H7 isolates were analyzed .The results showed that 2 strains of E .coli O157∶H7 were found ,with the detection rate of 1 .4% ,and the isolates were named as L1 and L2 in current study ,respec-tively .The E .coli O157∶H7 clinical isolates had the same biochemical characteristics with that of the typical E .coli .The L1 and L2 isolates presented similar growth curve ,which entered into the log phase earlier than that of the standard strain .L1 strain formed thick ,confluent ,complete biofilm after 48 hours post-inoculation ,and the biofilm of L2 strain was formed com-pletely in 36 hours .The two E .coli O157∶ H7 isolates were positive with eaeA and hlyA genes ,and the L1 strain also carried the Stx2 virulence gene .Our results reinforce the epidemiological data of E .coli O157∶H7 ,and underscore the need for more effective surveillance of animal-derived E .coli O157∶H7 isolates in Zhengzhou City ,China .

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), as a common systemic inflammatory autoimmune disease, affects approximately 1 in 100 individuals. Effective treatment for RA is not yet available because current research does not have a clear understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of RA. Xinfeng Capsule, a patent Chinese herbal medicine, has been used in the treatment of RA in recent years. Despite its reported clinical efficacy, there are no large-sample, multicenter, randomized trials that support the use of Xinfeng Capsule for RA. Therefore, we designed a randomized, double-blind, multicenter, placebo-controlled trial to assess the efficacy and safety of Xinfeng Capsule in the treatment of RA.

Objective To measure the clivus-axial angle (CAA) of Chinese,provide a normal value,and explore the correlation between CAA with cervico-medullary angle (CMA).Methods The CAA was measured on the CT of cervical spine in 225 Chinese with normal cranio-vertebral junction (CVJ).Both the CAA and the CMA were measured on the MRI of cervical spine in 117 subjects.All measurements were performed under a bone window (window level,300 Hu; window width,1 000 Hu) with an accuracy of 0.01°.A regression analysis was used for analyzing the correlation between CAA and CMA.The angle between the clivus plane and the straight line parallel to that of the posterior margin of the C2 vertebral body was defined as CAA; moreover,the angle between the strajght line parallel to the ventral side of the cervical spinal cord and the straight line parallel to that of the ventral side of the medulla oblongata was defined as CMA.Two experienced spinal surgeons performed the measurements.The CAA and CMA were measured three times,and the mean value was considered as the result.Results The CAA of 225 subjects was 133.52°-172.16° (156.93°±6.53°).The 95％ confidence interval was 145.10°-170.19° in male and 142.67°-168.47° in female.If the patients were divided into five groups according to their age,a comparison of these groups showed that there were no significant differences among the groups with respect to CAA.It showed that there was consistency between the CAAs measured with MRI and CT.The CMA for 117 patients ranged from 130.38° to 168.75° with a mean value of 154.17°±6.54°,and its 95％ confidence interval ranged from 141.35° to 166.99°.If the patients were distributed according to their gender or to their age,there were no significant differences among the groups.The relationship between CAA and CMA was linearity,and the regression coefficient was as high as 0.95 (P=0.007).Conclusion The normal CAA of Chinese is from 133.52° to 172.16°.The 95％ confidence interval goes from 145.10° to 170.19° in male,and 142.67° to 168.47° in female,close to CMA.It is valuable for measuring the compression of spinal cord,which can be accessed easily during the procedure.

Relying on host bacteria to replicate in large numbers, rich species, low research and development cost, the value of anti-infection therapy is very considerable. It is a new generation of biological antimicrobial agents with great potential. This paper briefly describes the sterilization mechanism, progress of research on anti-infection aspect and clinical application of phage, in order to provide reference for phage anti-infection treatment and clinical application.

Objective: To explore the features of close contacts of coronavirus disease 2019 ( COVID-19 ) cases in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing, so as to provide evidence for the management of close contacts and the control of the epidemic. Methods: Demographic characteristics, contact history and medical records of close contacts of COVID-19 cases in Jiulongpo District from January 22 to April 10, 2020 was collected according to the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Program ( sixth version ) . Descriptive statistical analysis was performed. Results: Totally 602 close contacts were found, and 30 of them were infected, with an attack rate of 4.98%. Twenty-seven cases were diagnosed before February 10. The close contacts mainly aged from 20 to 59 years ( 457, 75.91% ) ; most were relatives of COVID-19 cases ( 219, 36.38% ) , and 64 (10.63%) were medical staff. Most contacted occasionally ( 338, 56.15% ), at home ( 190, 31.56% ) , and through the same meal ( 181, 30.07% ) . The attack rate of close contacts aged 40 years and over was 7.49%, which was higher than 2.37% of those aged under 40 years ( P<0.05 ). The attack rate of close contacts increased with contact frequency ( P<0.05 ) . The attack rates of close contacts were significantly different in different relations with cases, contact places and contact modes ( P<0.05 ); the attack rates of colleagues and relatives were 20.41% and 8.68%; the attack rates of close contacts in the workplace settings and family were 17.54% and 10.00%; the attack rates of sharing the same bed, living in the same room and working in the same room were 44.44%, 18.60% and 17.24%. Conclusions The close contacts of COVID-19 cases in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing who aged 40 years or above, exposed in family settings and in the workplace were associated with higher risk of infection.
