1.Effect of substance P on the expression of HLA-DR and HLA-DQ antigens on human monocytes
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1989;0(06):-
Recent studies have shown that the the nervous system possesses immunoregulatory function. We investigated the effect of substance P(SP) a neuropeptide on the expression of HLA-DR and HLA-DQ antigens on normal human monocytcs of the peripheral blood. APAAP (alkaline phosphatase-antialkalinc phosphatasc) enzyme immunoassay was adopted to detect the HLA class Ⅱ molccults, using monoclonal antibodies Tu36, Tu22, in the reaction system. The results, showed that SP at concentrations higher than the physiological serum level (10~(-10)mol/L, 30~(-8)mol/L, 10~(-6)mol/L) promoted the expression of HLA-DQ antigen on monocytcs significantly in vitro (P0.05). The maximal effect was observed at 10~(-8)mol/L. Expression of HLA-DR antigen, however, was not influenced by SP in the same range of SP concentrations. It is reasoned by the authors that the immunosupprcssivc effect of excessive glucocorricoids during stress might partly be counterbalanced by the uprcgulatory action of increased blood SP on the immune function.

OBJECTIVE:
To analyze the clinical effect of different canalith repositioning maneuver in the treatment of the apogeotropic nystagmus of horizontal semicircular canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (apogeotropic HSC-BPPV).
METHOD:
Forty patients of apogeotropic HSC-BPPV colleted from March 2014 to May 2015 were divided into two groups, each group had 20 cases. The control group was repositioned with the Gufoni maneuver before the Barbecue maneuver, the research group with the improved Nuti maneuver.
RESULT:
The success rate of the research group was not lower than that of the control group, which hadn't statistical (P > 0.05). And after the Barbecue maneuver, all patients have been recovered.
CONCLUSION
Comparing with the Gufoni maneuver, the improved Nuti maneuver designed by us, had the same success rate to treat apogeotropic HSC-BPPV, and is easier to learn, with more compliance, more comfort and more repeatability.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the antibiotics-resistant genes in enterococci isolated from the 98th Hospital of PLA,Huzhou,Zhejiang Province,China.METHODS The antibiotics-resistant genes of TEM,aac(6′)/aph(2″),aph(3′)-Ⅲ,ant(2″)-Ⅰ,ant(4′,4″),ant(6)-Ⅰ,ermB,mefA,tetM,vanA,and vanB were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and verified by DNA sequencing in the 15 isolates of Enterococcus faecalis and 9 isolates of E.faecium.RESULTS The positive rate of the resistance genes of TEM,aac(6′)/aph(2″),aph(3′)-Ⅲ,ant(2″)-Ⅰ,ant(4′,4″),ant(6)-Ⅰ,(ermB,) mefA,tetM,vanA,and vanB in the 24 strains of enterococci tested were 37.5%,70.8%,25.0%,0.0%,0.0%,41.7%,75.0%,0.0%,41.7%,4.2%,and 4.2%,(respectively.) CONCLUSIONS The multidrug resistance of enterococci was a serious issue, and harbored antibiotics-resistance genes were the very important reasons of resistance to antibiotics in enterococci.

AIM: To explore the effects of sodium ferulate (SF) on function of macrophages in colonic tissue of the colitis rats in vivo. METHODS: The immunological colitis model of rats was produced. SF was used intracolonically for 21 days. The contents of malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin E_2 (PGE_2) and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), interleukin-1 (IL-1), TNF-?, myelopexoxidase (MPO), and the expression level of NF-?B p65 in colonic tissue of the rats were detected. RESULTS: SF (200,400,800 mg/kg) decreased the elevated contents of MDA, NO, PGE_2, the activity of IL-1, TNF-?, MPO, and the expression level of NF-?B p65, while increased the reduced activity of SOD in colonic tissue of the colitis rats in a dose-depended manner. CONCLUSION: SF restrained the activity of activated colonic macrophages and relieved the colonic inflammation reaction in vivo in colitis rats, which may be related to the suppression of NF-?B activation. OBJECTIVE:
Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) can be successfully treated by radiotherapy, if the tumor is confined to nasopharynx, but clinical onset is usually delayed to more advanced stages, when prognosis is poor. The objective is to determine efficacy of a new program for early NPC detection, which entails stratification of the NPC risk of target population according to serum levels of 3 Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) antibodies.
METHOD:
The sera of 1373 healthy adult residents from Zhongshan were collected and analyzed in this study from Mar 16, 2007 to Dec 31, 2007. The levels of EBNA1/IgA, zta/IgG and EBNA1/IgG were tested by ELISA. To stratify the subjects of 1373 adults into high, moderate and normal NPC risk groups by regression analysis of the levels of the EBV antibody. The high-risk groups of nasopharyngeal carcinoma risk could be followed-up every 3-6 month.
RESULT:
NPC risk of 1379 adults was stratified according to serum levels of the 3 EBV antibodies. Eleven (0.8%) were identified to be of high risk for NPC, having high levels of all three antibodies and/or IgA EBNA level > 3 rod. Clinical examination of high risk subjects detected 5 NPC cases, 3 cases detected in the first instance and 2 in follow-up examination 3 to 6 months hence. Three cases were diagnosed with UICC Stage I tumor (60%), one in the first instance and 2 in follow-up, and the 5 cases account for all NPC cases detected from the entire cohort over 28 months(100%).
CONCLUSION
The new program affords an efficient and efficacious means for early NPC detection.
