Objective To analyze factors influencing the incidence of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and discuss the prevention and treatment of DVT in hip fracture patients. Methods The present study enrolled 531 patients who received surgery between June, 2008 to June, 2010 for hip fractures. They were 242 men with a mean age of 56. 2 years and 289 women with a mean age of 65.2 years. There were 336 femoral neck fractures, 183 femoral intertrochanteric fractures, and 12 femoral subtrochanteric fractures. The associations between DVT incidence and fracture type, plasma D-Dimer, sex, age and preoperative duration of immobilization were statistically analyzed. Inferior yens cava filters were used for patients who suffered DVT while surgery was performed. Results The total incidence of DVT was 10. 4% in this series. DVT occurred in 21 cases of femoral neck fracture, 34 cases of femoral intertrochanteric fracture and 0 case of femoral subtrochanteric fracture. All DVT events happened before surgery. DVT incidence had no significant associations with age or sex (P =0. 347 and 0. 376, respectively), but did with plasma D-Dimer, fracture type and preoperative duration of immobilization (P = 0. 002, 0. 017 and 0. 037, respectively). All the 55 DVT patients underwent a successful surgery. Conclusions The DVT incidence in hip fracture patients may have no significant associations with age or sex, but may do with plasma D-Dimer, fracture type and preoperative duration of immobilization. Inferior vena cava filters can ensure a successful internal fixation of the fracture and an uneventful postoperative rehabilitation.

[Objective]To evaluate the terminal hair growth of different body positions among in pregnant women ,analyze the contribution of each area to the diagnosis to hirsutism ,to improve the mFG scoring system.[Method]Pregnant women aged 20~41 years, with normal range of total testosterone levels and non-hirsute were recruited at their prenatal care in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital,Sun Yat-sen University. They were followed up before pregnancy,at the 5th and the 9th week, the 10th and the 14th week, the 15th and the 20th week, the 21th and the 24th week of gestation. Then 72 more cases of pregnant women were recruited and followed up at 15~24th week. At each time of followed up,their total testosterone(TT)levels was examined by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry(LC/MS-MS)and terminal hair growth were assessed by mFG score. Significant difference procedure least(LSD) analysis of variance was used to compare the levels of testosterone and mFG score in different gestational weeks. Receiver operating characteristics(ROC)analysis and logistics analysis were conducted to evaluate the contributory strength of hair growth in each body position for the diagnosis of hirsutism. The scores in the body area which made a significant contribution to the total were summed up and termed the simplified mFG score(sFG score). Following, the sFG scores were subjected to ROC analysis to determine the thresh-old that would maximize both the sensitivity and specificity of the measure to accurately distinguish hirsute from non-hirsute patients.[Results]Among the forty three pregnant women who were followed-up from before pregnancy to 24th week, the mean±SD for TT was (1.09 ± 0.59)nmol/L before pregnancy,and(1.13 ± 0.40),(1.28 ± 0.38),(1.83 ± 0.63),(1.82 ± 0.52)nmol/L for 5~ 9th,10~14th,15~20th week, and the mFG score was 1.65 ± 0.60,2.30 ± 0.45,3.60 ± 0.68,4.20 ± 0.41 and 4.40 ± 0.77,respectively. The order of the facial and body sites presented with new terminal hair growth was upper abdomen, lower abdomen, lower back,up-per lip, thighs, upper back, chest, upper arm,and chin,in sequence. After analyzing 115 cases(including the 72 cases recruited later),ROC analysis showed that the diagnostic value of different sites for hirsutism(mFG≥5):upper lip>lower back>thighs>lower abdomen>upper arm>upper back>chest/upper abdomen. Four sites among them ,namely upper lip ,lower back ,thighs and lower abdomen had the best diagnostic value, and the AUC for ROC were 0.779,0.728,0.675,and 0.626,respectively. Both ROC and logistic analysis indicated that he most significant body areas in defining hirsutism(defined as an mFG score≥5)were the upper lip, lower back, thighs, and lower abdomen. Using a cut-off value of 3,the combination of the four areas has the best sensitivity and specificity in distinguishing hirsute from non-hirsute women. [Conclusion]The study suggested that the mFG score increased as pregnancy progressed before the 24 weeks of gestation. The subset of upper lip, lower back, thighs and lower abdomen may be a reli-able simplification of mFG system for the evaluation of excess hair growth. The cut-off value was of≥3.

Objective To evaluate the performance of nested PCR in the detection of different fungi in paraffin wax embedded tissues. Methods Forty-four tissue samples were resected from rats infected with Fonsecaea monophora, patients with chromoblastomycosis, sporotrichosis or penicilliposis marneffei followed by preparation of paraffin wax embedded tissue sections for pathological examination and DNA extraction. Nested PCR was performed by using specific primers targeting the ribosomal DNA of Fonsecaea, Sporothrix and Penicillium marneffei, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of nested PCR were analyzed and compared with those of pathological examination. Results The nested PCR showed positive results in 8 of 20 samples from rats with chromoblastomycosis, 7 of 10 samples from patients with sporotrichosis and all of the 10 samples from patients with penicilliposis marneffei, but not in the control samples. In the detection of Fonsecaea,Sporothrix schenki and Penicillium marneffei, the sensitivity was 40% ,70% and 100%, respectively, and the specificity was consistently 100%, for the nested PCR. Pathological examination revealed fungal elements in 95%, 70% and 80% of the corresponding samples, respectively. Conclusion Detection of fungal DNA in paraffin wax embedded tissue by nested PCR can be applied to the diagnosis of deep mycosis, especially to the diagnosis of penicilliposis marneffei.

Chinese Journal of Microsurgery 2023;46(6):637-641
Objective:To explore the surgical procedure and effect of reconstruction of 2 adjacent soft tissue defects of digits with free twin-lobed flap of carpal cutaneous branch of ulnar artery. Methods:From January 2015 to February 2022, 6 patients (10 digits) with 2 adjacent soft tissue defects of digits were treated by free twin-lobed flap of the carpal cutaneous branch of ulnar artery in the Department of Hand and Wrist Surgery of Sichuan Orthopaedic Hospital. All patients were males, aged 35-53 years old, with an average age of 39.5 years old. Three patients were with soft tissue defects in palmar of index and middle fingers, 1 in palmar of middle and ring fingers, 1 in palmar and dorsal of thumb and 1 in palmar and radial of index finger. Nerves in 5 injured digits of 3 patients and the defected digital flexor tendons in 2 digits of 2 patients were reconstructed. The defects were 2.5 cm× 1.5 cm - 4.0 cm× 2.0 cm in size. The sizes of the flaps were 7.5 cm×2.0 cm-10.0 cm×3.0 cm. The donor sites were directly sutured. All of the defects were treated in emergency surgery. The survival rate of flaps was observed after surgery. All patients were included in postoperative follow-up via telephone or WeChat reviews after discharge to observe the flaps and function recovery of digits. Results:All flaps survived without complication. Venous occlusion occurred in 1 digit, which was relieved after suture removal and heparin dressing for 3 days. Follow-ups lasted 12-16 (mean 12.8) months. The texture and appearance of the flaps were satisfactory. Sensory recovery was at S 3-S 3+ with static two-point discriminations (TPD) at 7-12 mm in the digits with sensory reconstruction. In the digits without nerve repair, the flaps gradually regained protective sensation and the function of digits satisfactorily recovered at 6 months after surgery. According to the Evaluation Standard of Upper Limb Function of Hand Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, 5 patients were in excellent and 1 in good. Conclusion:Using a free twin-lobed flap with carpal cutaneous branch of ulnar artery to reconstruct 2 adjacent defects of digits can benefit from the thickness of flap being similar to the skin of hand and a hidden donor site together with satisfactory appearance, texture and function of the flap. It is an effective method in reconstruction of 2 adjacent soft tissue defects of digits.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2006;23(3):496-498
The signal analysis technology based on wavelet was used to detect the chromatic visual evoked potential (VEP). The method was based on wavelet transform modulus maxima reconstruction. The test signal was decomposed using the dyadic discrete time wavelet transform "Mallat" algorithm, and the modulus maxima distribution of each scale was obtained. Signal was de-noised as the Lipschitz coefficient. The POCS method was used to reconstruction the original signal. The news method proved not only good for de-noising but also for decreasing the times of test by the simulation result.
