Thyroid cancer is one of common malignant tumor in neck, which can occur in any age. Females are more likely to have this disease than males. Most patients get a nodule on their thyroid, which typically does not cause any symptoms. Surgical resection is an effective method to cure thyroid cancer. In recent years, more and more evidence support that traditional Chinese medicine plays an important role in the recovery of postoperative thyroid carcinoma.

Altogether 80 Wistar rats were used for an animal model of cerebral concussion, which were sacrificed on days 1,3,7,14 and 30 after injury and the brain tissue was collected. The pathologic changes of cerebral concussion and apoptosis of nervous cells were studied by means of light microscopy, electron microscopy and in situ terminal end labeling method. The results showed that the clinical situation for cerebral concussion occurred in rats struck by 100g standard weight from 1 meter high. The basic pathologic changes were the cerebral vascular dilatation, congestion, hemorrhage, and edema of cerebral tissue. Nervous cells underaent degeneration, apoptosis and necrosis, and the Nissl bodies obviously decreased, even disappeared. On days 1～3 after injury, dot or piece necrosis was seen in brain tissue, around which the tissue rarefied. Monocytes and foam cells increased, and lots of neurons underwent degeneration, apoptosis and necrosis. The edema of cerebral tissue reached its peak on day 7. Hippocampal pyramidal cells decreased in number and showed the changes of obvious ischemia. On days 14～30, blood vessels also showed dilatation, congestion and hemorrhage, whereas edema alleviated. The neurons in cerebral cortex and hippocampus also showed the changes of chronic ischemia. By in situ terminal end labeling the number of apoptotic neurons increased on day 1, reached its peak on day 3 and still existed on day 30. The results suggested that the main pathologic changes of cerebral concussion were blood circulatory disorder and nervous cell degeneration, apoptosis and necrosis. Apoptosis of nervous cells was one of the main changes in cerebral concussion.

AIM: To study the effect of decanoyl acetaldehyde against atherosclerosis and the relative mechanisms in rats.METHODS: Rats were randomly assigned into 5 groups,That were the control,model,low and high dose of decanoyl acetaldehyde and ibuprofen groups.The model rats were intraperitoneally injected with 600 000 IU/kg vitamine Ds and intragastricly administrated with high-fat emulsion 10 mL/( kg·d) for 70 days.At the same time,the model rats treated with drugs were orally given 39 mg/( kg·d),78 mg/( kg·d) decanoyl acetaldehyde and 144 mg/( kg·d) ibuprofen suspension respectively.After 70 days,the rats were euthakilled,and the serum level of TC,LDL-C,HDL-C/LDL-C ,TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-6,IL-10,the expression of NF-κB in rat aorta and the pathological change in aorta were measured.RESULTS: Decanoyl acetaldehyde could lower the serum level of TC,LDL-C,TNF-α,IL-1β and IL-6.It increased the level of IL-10 and the ratio of HDL-C/LDL-C,inhibited the expression of NF-κB and reduced the thickness of the artery wall.CONCLUSION : Decanoyl acetaldehyde has an effect on anti-atherosclerosis.The mechanism may be related with inhibiting inflammation and lowering serum lipid.

Objective To analysis the role of adiponectin, insulin like growth factor -1 in elderly chronic heart failure.Methods 92 elderly patients with chronic heart failure were selected and divided into control group and experiment group.46 cases of the control group were treated with conventional treatment including strong heart, diuresis, vasodilator,lowering blood pressure, the experimental group was on the basis of routine treatment with catechin, 50 mg/kg orally, 1 times a day.2 weeks as a course, 1 course of treatment.Adiponectin, insulin like growth factor -1,BNP,LVEDD, LVESD and LVEF were compared before and after treatment.Results After treatment, the total effective rate of observation group was 93.48%, the control group total effective rate was 76.09%.The total effective rate of observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (χ2 =5.39, P <0.05 ).After treatment, BNP, Adp in two groups decreased, IGF-1 increased, compared with control group, BNP, Adp level of the experiment group were lower, IGF-1 was higher(P<0.05),and LVEDD and LVESD of the experiment were lower, LVEF was higher, (P<0.05). Conclusion Catechins can decrease the serum levels of adiponectin, elevate insulin like growth factor-1, improve the degree of heart failure, is worthy of clinical application.

Objective To explore the safety of the laparoscopic surgery in radical resection for different stage rectal cancer.Methods Clinical data of 200 cases with rectal cancer underwent laparoscopic radical resection(observation group) were analyzed retrospectively,including 52 cases of stage 0-Ⅰ,148 cases of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ.Two hundred cases patients with rectal cancer underwent open radical surgery were selected as control group,including 44 cases of stage 0-Ⅰ,156 cases of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ.The length to distal resection margin,the number of harvested lymph nodes,the incidence of postoperative complications and the prognosis of recent situation were observed,the safety of the laparoscopic surgery was analyzed.Results Whether rectal cancer of stage 0-Ⅰ or Ⅱ-Ⅲ,there were no significant differences in terms of the length of distal resection margin((2.5±0.9) cmvs.(2.4±1.1) cm,t=0.490,P=0.625;(3.1±1.0) cm vs.(3.2±1.3) cm,t=0.749,P=0.454),the number of harvested lymph nodes((12.3±4.2) vs.(12.7±3.9),t=0.480,P=0.632;(13.9±5.4) vs.(15.1±4.9),t=2.369,P=0.118),the incidence of postoperative complications (17.3％ vs.18.2％,x2 =0.012,P=0.911;27.7％ vs.28.8％,x2=0.049,P=0.825),the rate of local recurrence(1.9％vs.2.3％,x2 =0.014,P =1.000;4.1％ vs.3.2％,x2=0.157,P=0.692),the distant metastasis (3.8％ vs.2.3％,x2=0.195,P=1.000;5.4％ vs.4.5％,x2=0.137,P=0.712) and 3-year survival rate (96.2％vs.95.5％,x2=0.010,P=0.808;83.8％ vs.85.3％,x2=0.132,P=0.714) between the observation group and control group (P＞0.05).Conclusion For rectal cancer of stage 0-Ⅰ,laparoscopic surgery has good safety,and worthy of popularization and application.For rectal cancer of stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ,due to its operation for a long time as well as the possible risk in postoperative anastomotic fistula,the implementation of laparoscopic surgery should be more cautious.

Objective To evaluate the dual blood supply of lung adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma using dualinput perfusion CT.Methods A total of 40 patients confirmed with lung cancer pathologically underwent CT perfusion (CTP) scanning.The pulmonary flow (PF),bronchial flow (BF),perfusion index (PI,PI=PF/[PF+BF])and tumor volume,location were measured and recorded by 2 experienced radiologists.The differences in CTP parameters between lung adenocarcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas,the central lung cancers and peripheral lung cancers were analyzed.The correlation between the tumor volume and CTP parameters was analyzed.Interobserver agreements were assessed with intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC).Results The average of PF,BF and PI of all 40 cases was (54.26± 21.07)ml/ (min · 100 ml),(64.41±22.06)ml/(min · 100 ml) and (43.38±16.07)％,respectively.Tumor histology was consistent with adenocarcinomas in 23 cases and squamous cell carcinomas in 17 cases,lung adenocarcinomas showed lower PI than that of squamous cell carcinomas (t=-2.196,P=0.034).There were 17 peripheral lung cancers and 23 central lung cancers,and the PI of the peripheral lung cancers was higher than that of the central lung cancer (t=2.305,P=0.027).No statistically significant differences were found for BF and PF between two types of lung cancers and central lung cancers and the peripheral cancers (all P＞0.05).Tumor volume was negatively associated with PI (r =-0.39,P=0.01).Good agreement was found between the two observers,the ICC for BF,PF and PI was 0.97,0.93 and 0.91,respectively.Conclusion Dual-input CTP technique can be used to evaluate the differences of blood supply between different pathological types and locations of lung cancer,with PI depending both on tumor size and location.

Objective To explore the value of preoperative spleen-liver volume ratio (SLVR) for predicting recurrence of primary liver cancer after hepatectomy.Methods Clinical data of 86 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma undergoing hepatectomy were analyzed retrospectively from January 2009 to December 2014.According to the preoperative SLVR,these patients were divided into two groups:SLVR ＜ 0.8 group (low SLVR group) and SLVR≥0.8 group (high SLVR group).Patients were followed-up until June 2015.Cox ratio risk pattern analysis was used for the recurrent correlative factors.Results The 1-,3-,and 5-year survival rates were 95.5％,88.6％,and 81.8％ in the low SLVR group,and 73.8％,47.6％,and 40.5％ in the high SLVR group,respectively.The difference were statistically significant between two groups (P ＜0.05).Cox regression analysis revealed that SLVR≥0.8,AFP-L3％ ≥10％,the maximum diameter of the tumor ＞ 5 cm,and hepatic or portal vein tumor thrombus were independent predictors of poor disease-free survival after hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinomas (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions Preoperative SLVR≥0.8 is an independent adverse predictor of poor disease-free survival.

As regeneration scaffolds or templates in tissue engineering, polymeric materials play key roles in inducing tissue regeneration, and mediating cell growth and differentiation, i.e. functioning as artificial extracellular matrix. The polymeric materials including biological derived biopolymers and synthetic polymers, which are usually employed in tissue engineering, are reviewed in this paper.

Objective:To detect the expressions of survivin, galectin-3 and thyroid peroxidase in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma ( PTMC) and cancer adjacent normal tissue to explore the clinical significant.The correlations between the expressions of survivin,Gal-3 and TPO with BRAFV600E gene mutation in PTMC were analyzed.Methods: The expressions of survivin,Gal-3 and TPO were measured by immunohistochemical ( IHC ) method in 56 cases of PTMC tissue and adjacent normal tissue; BRAFV600E mutation was detected by PCR amplification and subsequently sequencing.Chi square test was used to analyse the relation in the expression rates of survivin,Gal-3 and TPO and BRAFV600E gene mutation.Results:The survivin and Gal-3 were strongly expressed but TPO was negatively expressed.The survivin and Gal-3 were negative in adjacent normal tissues but TPO was expressed.There were sig-nificant differences in the expression rates of survivin, Gal-3 and TPO between PTMC tissue and adjacent normal tissue (all P<0.001).The BRAFV600E mutation rate (32.1%) and the expression rates of survivin,Gal-3 and TPO in PTMC tissue were found to be positively related to lymph node metastases (P=0.009,P=0.025,P=0.007,P=0.008),and negatively related to gender and age (all P>0.05).There were no correlation was found between the expressions of survivin,Gal-3,TPO and the BRAFV600E gene mutation in PTMC(all P>0.05).Conclusion: The strong expressions of survivin and Gal-3,the mild expression of TPO and BRAF mutation may be important in the development of PTMC,and the detection of BRAFV600E gene mutation and the expressions of survivin, Gal-3 and TPO could be used to the judgment of pathogenetic condition and prognostic outcomes.
