Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2009;29(6):529-532
OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of Salvianolic acid B preconditioned endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) on the Nkx2.5 and GATA-4 gene expressions at the early stage of cell differentiation of bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSc) transplanted into infarcted myocardium, in order to find out the best synergism for co-transplantation of the two kinds of cells.
METHODSBMSc and EPCs of rats were isolated and cultured, and rats were modeled into acute myocardial infarction (AMI) by left coronary artery ligation. Then the EPCs preconditioned with different concentrations of Salvianolic acid B and BMSc or DMEM medium were implanted into heart ischemia area. Expressions of Nkx2.5 and GATA-4 mRNA expressions in myocardium were detected by Real-time RT-PCR 4 weeks later.
RESULTSCompared with those in the non-implanted model rats' myocardium, the gene expression of Nkx2.5 and GATA-4 mRNA were significantly higher in all the transplantation receptive groups, comparisons between the implanted groups showed that the highest value of expressions (2. 654 +/- 0.606 of Nkx2.5 and 1.573 +/- 0.372 of GATA-4) displayed in the group contained more EPCs, for 8-fold to BMSc in volume.
CONCLUSIONBMSc can differentiate into cardiac muscle like cells, and condition of their differentiation is related with the degree of the internal environment improved.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2006;31(4):269-279
In this article, the research of chemical constituents and bioactivities in recent ten years has been reviewed of plants from the 12 genera in Flacourtiaceae related to the medicinal resources in China. The research in China about the plants from Flacourtiaceae was done very little, but many literatures have been reported abroad. The plants from Flacourtiaceae mostly contain the constituents such as aromatic glucosides, lignanoid glucosides, diterpenoids and cyclopentenoid cyanohydrin glucosides et al. These compounds or plant extracts mainly show antibacterial, antiviral, antitumor, hypolipidemic and hypoglycemic activities. The research of plants from Carrierea, Itoa and Bennettiodendron of Flacourtiaceae in China is still blank. The systemic research about chemical constituents and bioactivities of plants from these genera will play important roles in the discovery of novel natural products and active constituents, and provide valuable reference for the classifying of plants from these genera.

Chinese Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Diseases 2006;24(8):468-470
OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of exposure to extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF EMFs) on pregnant mice and development of offsprings.
METHODSFemale mice were exposed to 50 Hz, 1.2 mT electromagnetic fields during the whole pregnant period (8 h/d). The body weight of dams, delivery and development of offsprings were observed and measured.
RESULTSThe increase of body weight of exposed dams (29.0%) was significantly slower than that of the control group (47.8%) during late pregnancy period (P < 0.05). The producing rate of exposed group was 60% of that of control group. Miscarriage, fetal loss and externally malformed fetus appeared in exposed group. The average number of offsprings of each exposed mouse was significantly decreased (11 +/- 1.6 vs 7 +/- 2.0, P < 0.05) and 11 for control group. Regarding the development of offspring, the body weight of prenatally exposed offsprings was increased more slowly than that of the control in the first two weeks after birth (P < 0.05). Developmental manifestations including eye opening [(252 +/- 24) h] and tooth eruption [(336 +/- 19) h] presented later in exposed offspring [(226 +/- 12), (319 +/- 15) h, respectively] (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONExposure to ELF EMFs during pregnancy period can cause adverse effects on pregnancy of female mice and development of offsprings.

The Chinese Journal of Clinical Pharmacology 2017;33(11):1050-1053
The morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases are increasing year by year. However, the current treatment is still not enough to solve the problem. As an important second messenger,Ca2+ homeostasis disequilibrium would lead to cellular dysfunction and metabolic disorder, which is the leading cause of cardiac function abnormalities, such as cardiac hypertrophy, atrial fibrillation, myocardial ischemia and heart failure. The ryanodine receptor 2 (RyR2),L-type calcium channel,Na +-Ca2+ exchanger (NCX) and sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase -2a (SERCA2a) involve in maintaining calcium homeostasis.Unfortunately, the exact regulatory mechanism is not fully understood, leading to the limitations of its application in the treatment and prevention of heart disease.Noncoding ribonu-cleic acids (ncRNA) are a group of ribonucleic acid (RNA) molecules that could not be translated, which participate in a variety of biological functions.Clarifying the mechanism of ncRNAs in Ca2+ homeostasis will contribute to determine the susceptibility to cardiac disease, such as atrial fibrillation, halt the progression of diseases and improve the prognosis of patients. This paper reviewed the research progress on ncRNAs in Ca2+ homeostasis regulation.
10.Effects of Wenyang Shengjing Decoction containing serum on the estradiol secretion of Leydig cells of sterile rats of shen-yang deficiency.

Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2012;32(2):248-252
OBJECTIVETo study the effects of Wenyang Shengjing Decoction (WSD) containing serum on the estradiol (E2) secretion, the synthesized cytochrome P450 aromatase (P450arom) activities, as well as the expression of its encode gene CYP19 in Leydig cells of male sterile rats of adenine induced Shen-yang deficiency (SYD).
METHODSExperimental rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, i.e., the normal control group, the high, middle, and low dose WSD groups, 5 in each group. The normal saline, low, middle, and high dose WSD were respectively given to rats of all groups for 10 successive days. Blood was drawn from rats' heart 2 h after the last gastrogavage. The serum was separated after centrifuge. Leydig cells isolated and purified from SYD rats were primary cultured in vitro and divided into 5 groups in random, i. e., the blank control group, the model group, the high, middle, and low dose WSD groups (1.2, 1.0, and 0.8 g/mL, respectively). The content of E2 released in the culture supernate was determined by radioimmunoassay. The P450arom activity was detected by tritium release assay. Meanwhile, the mRNA and protein expressions of CYP19 were analyzed using fluorescent quantitative PCR and Western blot respectively.
RESULTSCompared with the blank control group, the E2 secretion of the supernate of Leydig cells obviously decreased in the model groups, accompanied with the inhibition of P450arom activities, significant decreased protein and mRNA expressions of CYP19 (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). Compared with the model group, after intervened by WSD containing serum, the E2 secretion in the Leydig cells could be significantly increased, the P450arom activities up-regulated, the CYP19 expressions up-regulated at the protein and mRNA levels partially in a dose-dependent manner (P < 0.01, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSWSD containing serum could effectively elevate the E2 secretion in Leydig cells, which might be partially achieved through up-regulating P450arom activities and enhancing the gene expression of CyP19. This might be one of its mechanisms of action for treating male infertility of SYD.
