This study aimed to explore the correlation between rhizosphere soil microorganisms of wild Arnebia euchroma and the content of medicinal components to provide guidance for the selection of the ecological planting base. The total DNA of rhizosphere soil microorganisms of wild A. euchroma was extracted, and the microbial community structure of rhizosphere soil microorganisms was analyzed by IlluminaMiseq high-throughput sequencing technology. The content of total hydroxynaphthoquinone pigment and β,β'-dimethylacrylalkannin in medicinal materials was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). The physicochemical pro-perties of rhizosphere soil of wild A. euchroma in main producing areas were determined, and the correlation of soil microbial abundance with index component content and soil physicochemical properties was analyzed by SPSS software. The results showed that the species composition of rhizosphere fungi and bacteria in A. euchroma from different habitats was similar at the phylum and genus levels, but their relative abundance, richness index(Chao1), and community diversity(Simpson) index were different. Correlation analysis showed that the content of available phosphorus in soil was positively correlated with the content of total hydroxynaphthoquinone pigment and β,β'-dimethylacrylalkannin, and the abundance of five fungal genera such as Solicoccozyma and six bacterial genera such as Pseudo-nocardia and Bradyrhizobium was positively correlated with the content of medicinal components in medicinal materials. The abundance of Bradyrhizobium was significantly positively correlated with the content of β,β'-dimethylacrylalkanin. The abundance of fungi such as Archaeorhizomyces was significantly positively correlated with the content of available phosphorus in rhizosphere soil, and Bradyrhizobium was significantly negatively correlated with soil pH. Therefore, the abundance of fungi and bacteria in the rhizosphere of A. euchroma has a certain correlation with the medicinal components and the physicochemical properties of the rhizosphere soil, which can provide a scientific basis for the selection of ecological planting bases in the later stage.

Objective: The relationship between serum uric acid (SUA) levels and glycemic indices, including plasma glucose (FPG), 2-hour postload glucose (2h-PG), and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), remains inconclusive. We aimed to explore the associations between glycemic indices and SUA levels in the general Chinese population. Methods: The current study was a cross-sectional analysis using the first follow-up survey data from The China Cardiometabolic Disease and Cancer Cohort Study. A total of 105,922 community-dwelling adults aged ≥ 40 years underwent the oral glucose tolerance test and uric acid assessment. The nonlinear relationships between glycemic indices and SUA levels were explored using generalized additive models. Results: A total of 30,941 men and 62,361 women were eligible for the current analysis. Generalized additive models verified the inverted U-shaped association between glycemic indices and SUA levels, but with different inflection points in men and women. The thresholds for FPG, 2h-PG, and HbA1c for men and women were 6.5/8.0 mmol/L, 11.0/14.0 mmol/L, and 6.1/6.5, respectively (SUA levels increased with increasing glycemic indices before the inflection points and then eventually decreased with further increases in the glycemic indices). Conclusion An inverted U-shaped association was observed between major glycemic indices and uric acid levels in both sexes, while the inflection points were reached earlier in men than in women.

As a novel form of programmed cell death different from cell necrosis, apoptosis, and autophagy discovered in recent years, pyroptosis is characterized by cell membrane rupture and release of cell contents and proinflammatory factors mediated by gasdermin, thus leading to cell death. Pyroptosis signaling pathways can be classified into classical pathways dependent on caspase-1 and non-classical pathways dependent on caspase-4/5/11; the activation of caspase-1 in classical pathways depends on the function of inflammasome, while the direct activation of caspase-4/5/11 is observed in non-classical pathways, which leads to the lysis of gasdermin D and induce the formation of membrane pores, the maturation and release of interleukin-1β and interleukin-18, and the rupture of cell membrane to cause pyroptosis. Latest research has shown that pyroptosis plays an important role in the development and progression of chronic liver diseases. This article introduces the mechanism of pyroptosis and summarizes the role of pyroptosis in the development and progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, alcoholic liver disease, viral hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma, in order to provide new ideas and methods for the prevention and treatment of liver diseases in clinical practice.

Objective: To explore the feasibility of glans-preserving surgery (GPS) in the treatment of superficial penile squamous cell carcinoma (PSCC) with the lesion diameter of ≥2 cm. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data on 69 cases of superficial PSCC (≤T1aN0) treated by GPS (n = 36) or radical surgery (total or partial penectomy, n = 33) from July 2007 to July 2017. RESULTS: The mean tumor diameter and depth of invasion were 3.16 (2.0－6.0) cm and 0.89 (0.5－2.0) cm in the GPS group and 3.56 (2.0－6.0) cm and 1.89 (0.6－4.0) cm respectively in the radical surgery group. The patients were followed up for 10－102 (mean 42) months, during which, 5 patients in the GPS group developed local recurrence at 40 days and 2, 4, 7 and 9 months postoperatively, again underwent gansectomy, partial penectomy or GPS, and experienced no more recurrence during the follow-up of 54, 34, 39, 66 and 70 months. No local recurrence was observed in the radical surgery group, and none of the 69 patients experienced lymph node metastasis or died during the follow-up. CONCLUSIONS GPS is safe and efficient for the treatment of superficial PSCC with the lesion diameter of ≥2 cm.

Objective To investigate the relationship of galectin-3 (Gal-3)and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9)with in-stent restenosis (ISR).Methods We consecutively recruited 434 patients who had undergone successful drug eluting stent (DES)implantation.Then we divided them into ISR group (n=41)and NO-ISR group (n=393)according to the results of coronary angiography review.Independent risk factors for ISR were found out by multivariate analysis and the two groups were matched for these factors except for Gal-3 and MMP-9 .After elim-ination of the influence of confounders,serum Gal-3 and MMP-9 were compared between the groups and their rela-tions with the severity of ISR were analyzed.Patients were grouped based on Gal-3 and MMP-9 concentrations and major adverse cardiac events (MACEs)were compared between the two groups.Results After elimination of the influence of confounders,the results showed that serum levels of Gal-3 and MMP-9 were significantly higher in ISR group than in NO-ISR group (P＜0.001).Serum levels of Gal-3 and MMP-9 increased with the increased grade of classification.Serum levels of Gal-3 and MMP-9 were obviously higher in classes Ⅲ and Ⅳ ISR than in class Ⅰ (P＜0.05).Patients with higher levels of Gal-3 and MMP-9 had a higher incidence of MACEs (P＜0.01).ISR group had a higher incidence of MACEs than NO-ISR group (P＜0.05).Conclusion Serum levels of Gal-3 and MMP-9 are correlated with ISR and its severity,and they are independent risk factors for ISR.The rate of MACEs during follow-up period was increased with the increased levels of Gal-3 and MMP-9 .

ABSTRACT:OBJECTIVE To investigate the potential mechanism of aristolochic acid Ⅰ(AAⅠ)on aristolochic acid nephrop-athy and the effect of AAⅠ on PI3K/Akt/NF-κB signaling pathway in rats.METHODS 27 male SD rats were randomly di-vided into three groups:control group,AAⅠ low-dose group(2.25 mg/kg) and AAⅠ high-dose group (9.0 mg/kg).Rats were intraperitoneally injected with AAⅠ once daily for 14 d.Then the serum were taken to determine the content of Cr,BUN and AKP in rats;renal pathological changes were examined by HE staining;the expression levels of PI3K,Akt,NF-κB were analyzed by Western blot;the expression changes of IL-6 and TNF-αwere detected by immunohistochemical assay.RESULTS Compared with control group,the levels of Cr,BUN and AKP in AAⅠ groups were increased significantly(P <0.05);kidney pathological examination revealed the improvement of kidney disease and inflammation;the expressions of IL-6 and TNF-αwere increased significantly(P <0.01);the expression of PI3K,Akt and NF-κB were up-regulated.CONCLUSION AAⅠ can induce the kidney injury and inflammation and activate the PI3K/Akt/NF-κB signaling pathway,thus worsen patho-logical changes of kidney tissue.

OBJECTIVETo explore the expression of Cysleine-rich 61(Cyr61) gene in the different subtypes of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and the significance of Cyr61 in the genesis progression, and transformation of MDS and the relationship between Cyr61 and vascular endothelial grown factor (VEGF).

METHODSReverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and immunohistochemical S-P were used to detect mRNA and protein expressions of Cyr61 and VEGF in bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMNC) from 28 MDS, 12 acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients, and 10 normal volunteers.

RESULTSExpressions of Cyr61 and VEGF were higher in MDS and AML patients than in controls (P < 0.05). The expressions of Cyr61 and VEGF were significantly higher in high risk group (0.3998 +/- 0.2647, 0.4775 +/- 0.1342) than that in low risk MDS group (0.2213 +/- 0.1465, 0.2872 +/- 0.2341) (P < 0.05), but no significant difference between high risk MDS and AML patients. Expressions of Cyr61 and VEGF protein were higher in MDS patients than in normal controls (P < 0.05), and were significantly higher in high risk MDS group \[(38.7 +/- 2.9)%, (43.2 +/- 2.7)%\] than in low risk group \[(31.4 +/- 3.1)%, (33.5 +/- 3.4)%\] (P < 0.05). Expressions of Cyr61 and VEGF were significantly correlated (r = 0.8762, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONCyr61 and VEGF may play a role in the angiogenesis and pathogenesis of MDS.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the prognostic value of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) in the study of warm ischemia reperfusion injury to the regeneration of hepatic cells of the livers following their orthotopic transplantation in rats.

METHODSA rat orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) model with warm ischemia, the experimental group, was established and the same was done with a control group but without warm ischemia of the livers. They were studied at 6 time points (6 hours, 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days after OLT). All rats took axial T1 weighted and T2 weighted imaging scans and 1H MR spectroscopies.

RESULTSThe positive rate of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and the mean peak choline/water ratio in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group and the peak choline /water ratio had a positive correlation with the positive rate of PCNA. Serum ALT and AST increased significantly after OLT, especially during the 6 hour to 3day period. The levels of ALT and AST were markedly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group.

CONCLUSIONWarm ischemia reperfusion injury of OLT has a significant effect on the regeneration of hepatic cells, and the choline peak of 1H-MRS can be used to evaluate the regeneration of hepatic cells non-invasively.

BACKGROUNDRecent studies have showed that the fine mesh stents are associated with a significant reduction in both clinical and angiographic re-stenosis of the coronary arteries. To maintain a very satisfactory radio-opacity using the stents, Guidant of the USA has designed a new type of bare metal stents (BMS)-Multi-link (ML) Vision/ML MiniVision stents. The clinical outcomes of Asian patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) after implanting the Multi-link Vision or MiniVision stent were investigated in this study.

METHODSAn observational, prospective, multi-center, non-randomized post marketing registry was conducted to demonstrate the efficacy of the BMS-ML Vision/ML MiniVision stents. The primary end point of the registry was clinical target lesion revascularization (TLR) at a 6-month follow-up. The major secondary end points included the rate of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) and serious adverse events (SAE) in hospital and at 6 months; and the rate of clinical TLR as a function of the type of angina. A total of 429 Asian people with 449 lesions from 14 centers were selected for this study. The average reference diameter of the lesions was (3.0 +/- 0.5) mm, and the mean length was (15.7 +/- 5.0) mm.

RESULTSThe successful rate of the procedure was 99.3%. Twenty-five percent of the lesions were treated by direct stenting without pre-dilation. Eighty-six percent of the lesions were implanted with ML Vision stent. After the 6-month follow-up, the rate of clinical TLR was 1.4%. The MACE, SAE and target vessel revascularization (TVR) were 6.8%, 3.5% and 1.4% respectively.

CONCLUSIONThe current registry showed the excellent 6-month clinical outcomes of ML Vision/ML MiniVision stents in Asian patients with CAD.
