2.Study on Immuniated Fnnction in Infants with Bronchiolitis

Objective To explore the immuniated function of infants with bronchiolitis. 3.Clinical Analysis of 25 Cases of Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis

Objective To explore the clinical and laboratory characteristics of langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) in children, so as to improve diagnosis level and decrease misdiagnosis rate.Methods Twenty-five cases of LCH from Jan.1996 to Feb.2006 were analyzed by retrospective study. The clinical data were collected and abstracted for information regarding clinical symptom, physical sign, laboratory examination, imaging,pathology,diagnosis and treatment.Results Some laboratory findings in hemogram, bone marrow examination and chest X-ray were non-specific.The X-ray characteristic of skeleton was osteolysis. Computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging were important in defining the extent of lesion in fundus cranii and sella.Seven cases were examined for anti-Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) IgM, 3 cases were positive;5 and 3 cases out of 10 cases showed humoral and cellular immunity abnormality,respectively. The misdiagnosis rate was 52%,1 case had been misdiagnosed for 7 years. Chemotherapy was effective in the future.Conclusions The clinical manifestations of LCH varies widely, leading to high rate of misdiagnosis.The etiology of LCH is unclear,and some of our patients show the evidence of EBV infection or immunity abnormality. Definitive diagnosis of LCH is based on pathology. Ultrastructure and immunophenotype should be done to improve diagnosis level.
4.Study on Ultrasonic Follow-up on Atheriosclerosis in Familial Hypercholesterolemia

Objective To identify the arteriosclerosis (AS)changes in peripheral artery and abdominal aorta of patients with familial hypercholesterolemia(FH) during follow-up.Methods Seventeen patients of 6 FH [5 male and 12 female with average age of (16.12?6.65) years old],along with 17 subjects of matching sexes and ages with normal blood cholesterol as healthy control group,underwent examination by color doppler ultrasound,and changes of intima-media thickness (IMT) in peripheral artery and abdominal aorta,severity of stenosis,morphology,and function were observed.Results For 17 patients of FH,the total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) in serum were higher significantly and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) was lower significantly than those in healthy control group(Pa0.05).The IMT of carotid aorta,subclavicular aorta,common abdominal artery,and common femoral artery in 13 patients were showing various degrees of increase,yielding an average of 2.9 mm.As patients aged,this phenomenon was reported to be more profound in common abdominal aorta and femoral artery.Conclusions Patients of FH show AS lesion in early stage and it worsened as they aged,from carotid arteries to common abdominal aorta and femoral artery.Color doppler ultrasound can be a non-invasive examination for monitoring the progress of AS in blood vessels in patients of diagnosed FH.
5.Analysis of Hematology Changes in Children with Malaria

Objective To analyze changes of three periodical circulation systems,erythrocyte sedimentation rate and bone marrow cell morphology in children with malaria.Methods The routine tests of hematology by Sysmex KX-21 Counter, erythrocyte sedimentation rate by Westergren method and bone marrow cell morphology were analyzed. Results In 22 cases of malaria the ratio of Hb level below 110 g/L,WBC below 4?10~9/L and PLT below 100?10~9/L was 68.2%, 41.0%, and 77.3%,respectively. The ratio of children with all three parameters (Hb, WBC and PLT) abnormal was 36.4%, with two parameters abnormal was 63.6%. Ninty-five point five percent of malaria children′s erythrocyte sedimentation rate was abnormal. Fifty-nine point one percent of malaria children had hyperplasia anemia bone marrow morphology, 77.3% secondary thrombocytopenia and 54.5% with both of two bone marrow morphology.Conclusions Three periodical circulation systems of malaria children alter notably, especially in PLT and Hb. The majority has erythrocyte sedimentation rate abnormal, and bone marrow cell morphology shows hyperplasia anemia and thrombocytopenia.

Objective To discuss the effects of bacille calmette guerin(BCG) alone of combined with interferon gamma(IFN-?) and vitamin A in preventing asthma after bronchiolitis.Methods Fourty-four bronchiolitis infants(RBI) were treated with BCG alone or combined with vitamin A/IFN-?.Protein purified derivative(PPD) skin test were observed before and 3 months after interference and all infants enrolled in the study were followed up for average one year to observe the wheezing episodes. 7.Effect of Yixintai Granule on mRNA and protein expression levels of AQP, in renal medulla of chronic heart failure rabbits.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of Yixintai Granule (YG) on mRNA and protein expression levels of AQP2 in renal medulla of chronic heart failure (CHF) rabbits.
METHODSCHF rat model was established by ear marginal vein injection of adriamycin. Successfully modeled rabbits were divided into the model group, the high (8.4 g/kg), middle (4.2 g/kg), and low dose (2.1 g/kg) YG group, and the Furosemide group (2 mg/kg). Besides, a normal control group was set up. Equal volume of physiological saline was administered to rabbits of the model group and the normal control group by gastrogavage. YG at different doses was administered to rabbits of the 3 YG groups by gastrogavage. The intervention lasted for 4 weeks, once per day. After treatment the urine volume and pathomorphological changes of renal medulla tissue were observed. mRNA and its protein expression levels of AQP2 were detected.
RESULTSCompared with the normal control group, the urine volume decreased significantly, mRNA and protein expression levels of renal medulla AQP2 increased significantly in the model group (all P < 0.01). Compared with the model group, the urine volume increased significantly, and mRNA and protein expression levels of renal medulla AQP2 decreased significantly in all medicated groups (all P < 0.01). Compared with the low dose YG group, the urine volume significantly increased and the mRNA expression level of renal medulla AQP2 significantly decreased in the middle and high dose YG groups (all P < 0.01). The expression level of AQP2 protein significantly decreased in the high dose YG group (P < 0.01). Pathological changes of the renal medulla was the most obviously seen in the model group. But they were alleviated to various degrees in all medicated groups. They were more obviously attenuated in the middle and high dose YG groups.
CONCLUSIONYG could improve CHF possibly through down-regulating mRNA and protein expression levels of AQP2 in renal medulla, and elevating the urine volume.

9.Helicobacter Pylori and Gastric Cancer: Clinical Aspects.

OBJECTIVEAlthough Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is considered as the main etiological factor for gastric cancer, the strategy of screening and treating the oncogenic bacterium is still controversial. The objective was to evaluate the status and progress of the cognition about the relationship between H. pylori infection and gastric cancer from a clinical aspect.
DATA SOURCESThe data used in this review were mainly from the PubMed articles published in English from 1984 to 2015.
STUDY SELECTIONClinical research articles were selected mainly according to their level of relevance to this topic.
RESULTSGastric cancer is the fifth most common malignancy and the third leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. The main etiological factor for gastric cancer is H. pylori infection. About 74.7-89.0% gastric cancer was related to H. pylori infection. Up to date, some regional gastric cancer prevention programs including the detection and treatment of H. pylori infection are under way. Current data obtained from the randomized controlled trials suggest that population-based H. pylori screening and treatment is feasible and cost-effective in preventing gastric cancer; however, a population-based H. pylori eradication campaign would potentially lead to bacterial resistance to the corresponding antibiotics, as well as a negative impact on the normal flora.
CONCLUSIONSThe important questions of feasibility, program costs, appropriate target groups for intervention, and the potential harm of mass therapy with antibiotics must first be answered before implementing any large-scale program.

10.Enhancing the accumulation of beta-amyrin in Saccharomyces cerevisiae by co-expression of Glycyrrhiza uralensis squalene synthase 1 and beta-amyrin synthase genes.

Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch. ex DC is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Among its various active components, glycyrrhizic acid is believed to be the marker component. Squalene synthase (SQS) and beta-amyrin synthase (beta-AS) are key enzymes in the biosynthetic pathway of glycyrrhizic acid in G uralensis. To reveal the effects of co-expression of SQS1 and beta-AS genes on this pathway, 7 yeast expression vectors harboring different SQS1 variants and beta-AS were constructed and expressed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae as fusion proteins. TLC and GC-MS results showed that co-expression of SQS1 and beta-AS enhanced the accumulation of beta-amyrin. The effects of SQS12 were more obvious than the other two SQS1 variants. This study is significant for further investigations concerned with exploring the biosynthesis of glycyrrhizic acid in vitro and strengthening the efficacy of G. uralensis by means of increasing the content of glycyrrhizic acid.
