OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Tai Ji Quan (TJQ) training on strength and function of lower limbs in the aged.
METHODSSixty senile subjects were recruited and assigned to the TJQ group and the control group (imparting health knowledge)by random digit table. Patients in the TJQ group received 24-style TJQ training for 18 months (60 min each time, 5 times per week), while those in the control group were imparted with sarcopenia related causes, pathogeneses, prevention and control measures. The maximum isometric strength of bilateral iliopsoas, quadriceps femoris, tibialis anterior muscle, hamstrings; the time for 5 sitting-up tests and Time Up and Go Test (TUGT), one-leg standing time with closed eyes test; and the score of Berg balance scale were compared between the two groups.
RESULTSCompared with before treatment, muscle strength increased in the TJQ group with an average increased capacity (rate) as follows, bilateral iliopsoas 5.5 kg (16.9%), quadriceps femoris 5.5 kg (26.2%), and tibialis anterior muscle 8.5 kg (36.2%) (all P < 0.05). The time for TUGT and 5 sitting-up tests was shortened by 1.3 s (16.7%) and 0.9 s (14.5%) respectively in the TJQ group. The time for one-leg standing time with closed eyes test was increased by 8.4 s (left) and 9.1 s (right) respectively. The score of Berg balance scale increased by 4.3% (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, bilateral quadriceps femoris and tibialis anterior muscle strength increased significantly (P < 0.01); the time for TUGT and 5 sitting-up tests, the time for one-leg standing time with closed eyes test, scores of Berg balance scale were all improved in the TJQ group after intervention (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONTJQ training could improve strength of iliopsoas, quadriceps femoris, tibialis anterior muscle in the aged, elevate their balance and locomotor activities, and possibly prevent and treat sarcopenia.

Microbiology 2008;0(11):-
Nitrite oxidoreductase(NXR) is the key enzyme responsible for the oxidation of NO2-to NO3-in nitrite-oxidizing bacteria.Since NXR is a dissoluble enzyme, located at the inner side of the membranes of cells, its function is dependent on the electron transfer chain related to membranes. This paper reviews the advances in study on NXR,including the structure, catalysis mechanism and the impact of different factors.New techniques applied in recent studies and research prospects are also presented.
3. Preparation of colchicine ethosomes containing TPGS and in vitro transdermal permeation
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2015;46(24):3655-3660
Objective: To prepare and optimize the prescription of colchicine ethosomes containing D-α-tocopherol polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (TPGS) and to investigate its feasibility as a carrier for transdermal drug delivery. Methods: The colchicine ethosomes containing TPGS were prepared by the injection-sonication method. And the encapsulation efficiency (EE) was determined by minicolumn centrifugation method. The prescription of ethosomes was optimized by uniform design with EE as the evaluation index, and the physicochemical properties of the optimized ethosomes were investigated. Characterization of the vesicles was based on particle size, Zeta potential, entrapment efficiency, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The transdermal permeation characteristics of ethosomes, colchicine 30% ethanol solution, and colchicine ethosomes containing TPGS were compared by using Franz diffusion cells. Results: The optimized formulation was as follows: The contents of soybean phospholipid and TPGS were 350 and 50 mg, respectively. In addition, the concentration of ethanol was 36.44%. The average EE, particle size, polydispersity index, and Zeta potential were (74.71 ± 2.18)%, (89.6 ± 3.5) nm, 0.201 ± 0.008, and (-34.6 ± 2.7) mV, respectively. The in vitro experiment showed that the transdermal flux, permeation rate, and skin deposition of colchicine ethosomes were (64.49 ± 5.61) μg/cm2, (2.84 ± 0.23) μg/(cm2∙h), (128.22 ± 11.64) μg/cm2, and the transdermal flux, permeation rate, and skin deposition of colchicine ethosomes containing TPGS were (91.36 ± 7.11) μg/cm2, (4.73 ± 0.38) μg/(cm2∙h), and (182.84 ± 14.37) μg/cm2, respectively, which was significantly higher than those in ethosomes. Conclusion: The colchicine ethosomes containing TPGS show high EE and obviously enhance the percutaneous absorption of colchicine, which might be a potential carrier for transdermal drug delivery.

To obtain high-yield avilamycin-producing strains, low energy N~+ ion implantation technology and screening of streptomycin-re- sistant mutants are used in the study on breeding mutation. The results show that,“saddle”region, which range is from 3?10~(15) to 5?10~(15) ions/cm~2,has got better induced mutation action. It also means that the strain's resistant mutation and yield mutation closely correlate to each other, and the method of streptomycin resistant screening is feasible. We have isolated a high-yield strain SVT-45 which the productivi- ty is 195% higher than the original strain's in the rotation-flask experiments. These results showed that the ion implantation was an effective method for microbe mutagensis.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2011;46(9):1104-1107
This article studies the thermostability and the crystal structure of a new anticancer drug dasatinib. The thermostability of dasatinib was analyzed using the differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermo gravimetric analyzer (TGA), and the structural characteristics of polymorphism and crystalline transformation was determined using the X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD) with in-situ high temperature accessories. The results showed that dasatinib has at least two different crystal forms. The form-I has one crystalline water and form-II one and half, and in a heating-up processing both of them would change their crystal structures. After losing their crystalline water, both would change into the same crystalline form with no crystalline water. Their melting points were almost the same: form-I was 285.68 degrees C and form-II was 285.50 degrees C. The results of the study method would provide a comprehensive reference for the quality evaluation of dasatinib.

Objective To evaluate the intra-and inter-rater reliability of MyotonPRO for Achilles tendon properties measured. Methods Twenty healthy subjects were recruited to measure Achilles tendon properties using a novel hand-held Myoton-PRO device by two testers, one of the testers re-tested five days later. The reliability was assessed using in-tra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) and Bland-Altman analysis, and minimum detectable changes (MDC) was calculated. The Achilles tendon properties of the dominant or non-dominant leg was compared. The correlation between body mass and Achilles tendon properties was examined. Results The intra-rater reliabilities of Achilles tendon properties were ICCleft=0.884 and ICCright=0.904; the inter-rater reli-abilities were ICCleft=0.883 and ICCright=0.945. The MDC was 36.64 N/m. Bland-Altman plots showed good agreement. There was no significant difference in Achilles tendon properties between dominant and non-domi-nant legs (t<1.236, P>0.05). The body mass positively correlated with Achilles tendon properties (r>0.477, P<0.05). Conclusion The intra-and inter-rater reliabilities of MyotonPRO were good in measuring Achilles tendon properties in healthy subjects. No significant difference was found between dominant and non-dominant legs. The body mass positively correlated with Achilles tendon properties in healthy subjects.

OBJECTIVETo determine the optimum treatment for viral myocarditis (VMC).
METHODSA total of 126 VMC patients were randomly divided into the control group (42 cases) that was treated with conventional Western medicine, and the intervention group (84 cases) that was treated with a combination of Chinese medicine (CM) and Western medicine intervention termed optimum proposal of integration of disease and syndrome (OPIDS). Before and after 4 weeks of treatment, the integral of CM syndrome, self-rating depression and anxiety scales (SDS and SAS, respectively), echocardiograms (ECGs), heart rate variability and left ventricular systolic function were observed.
RESULTSCompared with the control group, the intervention group showed significant reductions on the SDS and SAS (P <0.05); improvement of premature ventricular beats, atrioventricular blocks, ST-segment abnormalities, and significant T wave changes (P <0.05); greater reductions in standard deviation of NN intervals (SDNN), standard deviation for per 5 min averages NN intervals (SDANN), and root-mean-square of successive difference of NN intervals (rMSSD) (P <0.05); and increases in cardiac output, stroke volume, and ejection fraction, the last of which was statistically significant (P <0.05). Overall, the treatment efficacy rate was significantly better P<0.05) in the intervention group (75.61%) compared with the control group (69.70%).
CONCLUSIONOPIDS is quite effective in treating VMC and improves symptoms such as anxiety and depression, left ventricular systolic dysfunction, premature ventricular contraction, and cardiac autonomic nervous system dysfunction. [
