3.The combinative therapeutic effects of Mailuo Shutong Granules and synthetic medications on patients with superficial thrombophlebitis

AIM To observe the combinative therapeutic effects of Mailuo Shutong Granules and routine synthetic medications on patients with superficial thrombophlebitis (STP).METHODS Seventy patients randomly and equally divided into control group and observation group were subjected to a two-week conventional treatment and a two-week intervention of Mailuo Shutong Granules on the basis of routine treatment,respectively,and they had the before and after the treatment assessment in terms of main clinical symptoms and signs,endothelial function indices (NO,ET-1,TXB2,6-Keto-PGF1α,VEGF,vWF),hemorheology indices (plasma viscosity,blood sedimentation,erythrocyte aggregation index,fibrous protein).RESULTS The observation group generally demonstrated significantly higher effective rate than the control group (P < 0.05).Markedly decreased post-treatment scores for main clinical symptoms and signs,TXB2,ET-1,vWF,plasma viscosity,blood sedimentation,erythrocyte aggregation index,fibrous protein,and increased 6-Keto-PGF1 α,VEGF and NO (P < 0.05) in both groups were observed,as well as the between-group variance showing the observation group's priority (P < 0.05).The respective 8.57% and 14.29% incidence rates of adverse reactions in the observation group and control group were also noticed.CONCLUSION For patients with STP,a combination therapy of Mailuo Shutong Granules on the basis of synthetic medications contributes to an effective main clinical symptoms alleviation due to its vascular endothelial cells protection,cellular secretion function and hemorheological improvement.
4.Research progress of the resistance training in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and sarcopenia

Sarcopenia is a syndrome characterized by progressive and generalized loss of skeletal muscle and strength with a risk of adverse outcomes such as physical disability, poor quality of life and death. Skeletal muscle is the most important locomotive organ and energy metabolism organization. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus ( T2DM) were much likely to suffer sarcopenia due to impaired insulin secretion. Resistance training is an effective method to treat sarcopenia by far, and more it is more effectively to control the blood glucose compared with aerobic exercise. This thesis will summarize the pathogenetic mechanism of T2DM complicated with sarcopenia, and the function mechanism, methods and precautions of the resistance training, to provide reasonable and effective kinematic scheme for patients with T2DM and sarcopenia.
5.Study on needling depth of Dazhui (GV 14), Jianzhongshu (SI 15), Xuanshu (GV 5) and Mingmen (GV 4) with CT.

OBJECTIVETo provide reference for the safe needling depth of Dazhui (GV 14), Jianzhongshu (SI 15), Xuanshu (GV 5) and Mingmen (GV 4) in clinical acupuncture and moxibustion treatment.
METHODSThirty-two adult volunteers were divided into 3 groups, thin person group, moderate person group and fat person group according to Luo's indexes, and computer-aided tomography was used to measure the needling depth of Dazhui (GV 14), Jianzhongshu (SI 15), Xuanshu (GV 5) and Mingmen (GV 4).
RESULTSThe safe depths of perpendicular needling were different for persons of different somatotypes, for example the needling depth for Dazhui (GV 14) was (32.86 +/- 3.96) mm for the thin person group, (37.76 +/- 4.91) mm for the moderate person group, and (47.93 +/- 5.30) mm for the fat person group.

6.Circumferential resection decompression combined with bone cement fill-separation for treatment of spine meta-static tumor

Objective To explore the effect of spinal 360°circumferential resection decompression combined with bone cement fill-separation and pedicle screw fixation instrumentationb for patients suffering from spinal metastases.Methods Retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 42 patients suffering from spinal metastases and underwent spinal 360°circumferential resection decompression combine with bone cement fill-separation and pedicle screw fixation instrumentation in our hospital from April 2012 to October 2016.The pain level were assessed by visual analogue scale(VAS),the functional impairment was classified by Karnofsky score(KPS) and the neurologic deficit was evaluated by Frankel grade before preoperation,1 week after operation and 3 months after operation.Results Through the following-up of 3 months,there was no neural symptoms relapse in primary segment.The VAS score was (0.57 ±0.79) points,and the KPS was (72.61 ± 19.12) points 3 months after operation,which were significantly improved compared with the data before operation (P < 0.05).The VAS score improvement rate was (91.09% ±13.73%),and the Frankel grade improvement rate was 80%.Conclusion Circumferential resection decompression combined with bone cement fill-separation and pedicle screw fixation instrumentationb for patients suffering from spinal metastases can effectively improve the neural symptoms and life-quality of patients and prevent neural symptoms relapsing in primary segment after operation.
7.Total saponins of Panax japonicus improve cancer cachexia in mice through inhibiting inflammatory response mediated by NF-κB

Aim To investigate the therapeutic effect of total saponins of Panax japonicus(SPJ)on cancer cach-exia in mice with colon adenocarcinoma. Methods BALB/c mice were subcutaneously inoculated with mu-rine colon adenocarcinoma CT26 cells to induce ca-chexia. The model animals were randomly divided into three groups: model group, SPJ low dose group and high dose group. Gavage started on the 4th day after inoculation, and the dosage regimen was as follows:the normal and model groups were given 10 mL·kg-1 saline, qd ×27; the low dose and high dose groups were treated with 20 and 60 mg·kg-1SPJ respective-ly, qd ×27. After treatment, the effects of SPJ on body weight, tibialis anterior muscle, gastrocnemius muscle,spleen and epididymal fat changes of cachexia mice were observed. HE and Western blot were used to measure the changes of cross section of gastrocnemius muscle fibers and the expression of NF-κB,PAX7 and MuRF1 protein level in the gastrocnemius and tibialis anterior muscle. Results Compared with model group, the administration of SPJ could effectively re-duce the weight loss (P <0.05), increase muscle mass (P<0.05) and decrease muscle tissue degrada-tion in cachexia mice. Meanwhile,SPJ significantly re-duced the levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in serum (P <0.05) and decreased the expression of NF-κB. Con-clusion SPJ can improve cancer cachexia in mice in a dose-dependent manner. The potential mechanism may be associated with the inhibition of NF-κB mediated in-flammatory factor expression.
8.Analysis of the prevalence and influential factors for overweight and obesity of ninth grade students in China

Objective To investigate the prevalence of overweight and obesity in Chinese ninth grade students and to analyze the influential factors that contribute to this situation. Methods A total of 5 967 students were selected from the 2016 China Education Panel Survey. Chi-square test was used to examine the differences in the prevalence of overweight and obesity among different groups and Logistic regression models were used to analyze the factors affecting obesity in boys and girls. Results The prevalence of overweight and obesity was 15.23%, 18.55% and 11.84% in total, male and female ninth grade students respectively. The multiple Logistic regression analysis indicated that the risk factors between boys and girls were significantly different. The main factors affecting boys obesity rate were one-child, boarding, both parents obesity, taking health education courses, having indoor stadium and screen time. Meanwhile, for girls the factors were boarding, both parents obesity and sports time. Conclusions Schools should arrange the schedule of boarding students and offer health education courses based on the characteristics of boys and girls. Meanwhile schools should unite parents to control adolescents’ screen time and nutrition balance, which is benefit for preventing adolescents overweight and obesity.
9.Effect of acrosin inhibitor KF-950 on acrosin activity and acrosome of human sperm.

OBJECTIVESTo study the inhibitory effect of KF-950 on human acrosin and sperm acrosome.
METHODSHuman acrosin was extracted and purified with 2% acetic acid, and its residual activity was evaluated by BAEE/ADH assay after treated with different concentrations of KF-950. ABC assay was used to observe the effect of KF-950 on human acrosome with Biotin-PSA as a probe.
RESULTS1. The activity of normal sperm acrosin was (37.65 +/- 4.47) U/L. 2. The residual activity was inversely related to the concentration of KF-950 (r = -0.998), and had a dose-response curve. The result could be described by Y = 7.57-1.895X. 3. With increase of KF-950 concentration and prolongation of action time, the staining rate of acrosome obviously dropped (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSKF-950 directly inhibits acrosin activity and assumely injures sperm acrosome. It might be a new kind of highly effective inhibitor.

10.Coal tar pitch smoke extract-induced pyroptosis in human bronchial epithelial cells.

OBJECTIVETo explore whether coal tar pitch smoke extract (CTP) induced pyroptosis in human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B).
METHODSBEAS-2B cells were treated with different concentrations of CTP (1, 3 µg/ml) for 8h and 24 h, respectively. Lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) activity and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) levels in the supernatants of cell culture media were measured with LDH activity or human IL-1β ELISA kit, respectively. The activity of Caspase-1 was measured with Caspase-1 colorimetric assay kit.
RESULTSThe activity of caspase-1 in 1 and 3 µg/ml CTP groups were (9.29 ± 0.30) and (8.67 ± 0.59) µmol/ml respectively which were both significantly increased compared to that (7.42 ± 0.59) µmol/ml in the control group (P < 0.05) after 8 h exposure, but there was no significant difference in the activity of LDH and levels of IL-1β in the cell culture media among the CTP and control groups. 24 h after exposure, the activity of LDH in the CTP (1, 3 µg/ml) groups were (1323.03 ± 28.53) and (1148.45 ± 16.42) U/dl respectively which were significantly higher than that (1091.93 ± 26.64) U/dl in the control group (P < 0.05), and the levels of IL-1β in the CTP (1 and 3 µg/ml) groups were (125.37 ± 25.00) pg/ml and (92.04 ± 19.09) pg/ml respectively which were significantly higher than that (46.20 ± 14.43) pg/ml in the control group (P < 0.05), but there was no significant difference in the activity of Caspase-1 among CTP and control groups (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONCTP treatment induced early increase in caspase-1 activity followed by the increase in LDH activity and IL-1 levels, indicative of pyroptosis in human bronchial epithelial cells.
