Objective To investigate the changes in the metabolism of neurotransmitters in different regions of the brain induced by propofol in healthy volunteers using the proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) technology. Methods IH-MRS was performed in ten 20-40 year old healthy volunteers. Each volunteer underwent MRS scan twice. The first MRS scan was performed when they were conscious as baseline control value. The second scan was performed during target-controlled infusion (TCI) of propofol. The target effect-site concentration was set at 3.0 ?g?ml-1. Volume of interest (VOI) included sensory cortex, motor cortex, thalamus, hippocampus and basal ganglia. The metabolites in the spectra included N-acetyl-aspartic acid (NAA), glutamic acid (Glu), GABA, choline compounds (Cho) and creatine (Cr) .Results During TCI of propofol MAP and RR were significantly decreased ( P 0.05) as compared to the baseline value when the volunteers were conscious. During TCI of propofol the NAA content in thalamus and hippocampus, Glu content in thalamus, hippocampus and basal ganglia and Cho content in all the 5 regions of the brain were significantly decreased ( P

Objective To ob serve the clinical effect of blood-activating and stasis-dissolving drugs combined with western medicine ( WM) for the treatment of recurrent spontaneous abortion ( RSA) induced by prethrombotic state ( PTS). Methods A total of 120 patients with RSA at PTS were randomly assigned to treatment group (68 cases) and control group (52 cases). Patients in both groups were treated with aspirin and low molecular weight heparin, while those in the treatment group additionally received Chinese medicine for activating blood and dissolving stasis. Before and after treatment, indexes of coagulation-fibrinolysis and the development of embryos were compared between the two groups. Results The therapeutic effective rate was 88.24% in the treatment group, higher than that of the control group ( 69.23%, P<0.05). The levels of plasma thrombin time ( TT) , D-dimer, fibrinogen and antithrombin Ⅲ ( AT-Ⅲ) were all improved ( P<0.05) in the two groups after treatment. Besides, the treatment group had better effect on improving levels of plasma D-dimer, fibrinogen and AT-Ⅲ ( P<0.05). During the treatment, no drug-induced adverse reaction was found. Neither neonatal deformity nor maldevelopment occurred. Ninety-seven cases achieved successful pregnancy, and 45 cases had given term girth ( 29 cases from the treatment group and 16 from the control group). Fifty-two cases were in stable middle- and late-stage of pregnancy. Conclusion Therapy of activating blood and dissolving stasis is an effective method for RSA at PTS. It has obvious effects on improving high coagulation state during pregnancy. Chinese medicine combined with WM shows better therapeutic efficacy than WM alone.

Objective To study the clinical application of quantitative ultrasound(QUS) which evaluate skeletal status of children and adolescents. Methods Subjects were children and adolescents aged 0-18 years old.Tibia/radial bone strength was obtained using QUS.Children who were younger than 2 years old only were measured at midpiece of tibia, and children who were older than 2 years old were measu-red at midpiece of tibia and radius. At the same time, calcium in peripheral blood was measured by the method of atomic absorption. Results 1.Radial and tibial bone strength presented nonlinear growth with age in healthy children and adolescents.2.Bone strengths of different anatomic-sites were different and the disparity rate of evaluation at different anatomic sites was 30.1%.3.The bone strength of the children who had some risk factors that could induce decrease of bone strength or had some diseases of bone metabolism was lower than healthy children.Composition of low bone strength children was 71.1% in high risk children, and was 47.9% in those who had some symptom or physical sign of calcium deficiency.4.Composition of low bone strength children was 44.2% in those who had normal peripheral blood calcium, and composition of normal bone strength children in those who had low peripheral blood calcium was 59.7%.The 2 methods had no correlation. Conclusions QUS is a quite useful technique in evaluation skeletal status of children and adolescents, and is sensitive for high risk children. It is necessary to measure radius and tibia, and consider blood calcium and bone strength to evaluate practical level of calcium and nutritional state of children.

Background The ocular nerve of trigeminus is the sensation and nutrition nerve of cornea.Whether trigeminal neuralgia affect the function of ocular surface and the morphology of corneal nerve plexus or not is below understanding.Confocal microscope is a non-invasive method for in vivo corneal examination. Objective This study was to analyze the ocular surface findings and observe the morphology and density of corneal nerve under the confocal microscopy in patients with trigeminal neuralgia. Methods Thirty-three eyes of 33 patients with trigeminal neuralgia were collected from the Department of Pain Management in Henan Provincial People's Hospital. The corneal perceptual sensitivity was examined using corneal aesthesiometer, and the function of lacrimal secretion (Schiemer Ⅰtest),tear break-up time (BUT) were performed to evaluate the influence of trigeminal neuralgia on ocular surface. The change of corneal nerve was observed under the confocal microscopy. The fellow eyes served as controls. The informed consent was obtained from the subjects before any examination. Results The fiber length of corneal perceptual sensitivity was (54.348±6.793)mm and (55.217±6.480)mm in trigeminal neuralgia group and control group without a significant difference between them (t=0.641,P=0.528).No significant differences were found in the mean value of Schiemer Ⅰtest (9.390±6.583mm vs 9.300±5.295mm) and BUT result (6.09±4.177s vs 6.13±4.799s) between trigeminal neuralgia and control group(t=0.070,P=0.945;t=-0.085,P=0.933).The densities value of corneal subepithelial nerve plexus at the nasal, temporal, superior, inferior and central area was insignificantly changed between trigeminal neuralgia group and control group(P=0.840,0.459,0.268,0.120,0.607).Tenuous,bending and circling nerve fibers were seen in corneal stroma under the confocal microscope, while the nerve fibers were strict in controls. Conclusion Trigeminal neuralgia does not dramatically affect eye surface function and corneal subbasal nerve plexus density, but corneal nerve fibers with trigeminal neuralgia are more bending than normal people.

To study the identification of Gentianaceae Mongolian medicine Digeda with spectroscopy techniques, near infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry techniques were applied to study on the identification of 4 kinds of Gentianaceae Mongolian medicine Digeda, and characteristic spectrums obtained were systematically analyzed. In NIR study, the four species of Digeda exist some differences in 4 250-4 400 cm(-1) and 5 650-5 800 cm(-1) of one-dimensional spectra, and show significant differences in 4 100- 4 400 cm(-1), 4 401-4 900 cm(-1) and 5 400-5 800 cm(-1) of the second derivative spectra. DSC curves of them present distinct topological pattern, characteristic peak and peak temperature. Using near infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry analysis can realize efficient and accurate identification of four kinds of Mongolian medicine Digeda, and provide scientific basis for the efficient and accurate identification of other Gentianaceae Mongolian medicine Digeda.

Microscopic identification and NIRS methods were applied to identify Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma of two different origins. The results showed that both methods could identify the samples. NIRS could identify the two samples nondestructively, and provides a basis for establishment of a standard herbs radix clematidis NIRS fingerprint in the future.
