Objective To explore the role of process management in preventing peripheral central venous catheter (PICC)-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI). Methods A standard process management policy was established for the uniform management of PICC in our hospital. The incidences of CRBSI before and after the implementation of this policy were compared. Results The incidences of CRBSI was 6.0‰ (48/79 793 ) every 1000 catheter-days before process management and 2.9‰ (29/99643) after process management (P =0.000).Conclusion Standard process management can effectively prevent and control CRBSI caused by PICC.

Objective To study the possible role of bone morphogenetic protein 7(BMP 7) in the TGF ?1 induced tubular epithelial myofibroblast transdifferentiation (TEMT) of cultured renal tubular epithelial cells. Methods The normal rat kidney tubular epithelial cell line (HK 2) was cultured for three days on plastic plates in the presence or absence of recombinant TGF ?1 and BMP 7. The alterations in the phenotype were assessed by phase contrast microscopy. Transdifferentiation of tubular cells into myofibroblasts was assessed by immunofluorescence, with monoantibodies to alpha smooth muscle actin (? SMA), vimentin and cytokeratin respectively. The expression of ? SMA of HK 2 cells was measured by flowcytometry. The expression of ? SMA mRNA of HK 2 cells was assessed with reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR). Results Treatment of HK 2 cells with BMP 7(50 and 100 ng/ml) for 24~48 hours increased cellular proliferation. The culture of HK 2 cells in the presence of TGF ?1 induced a clear fibroblast like morphology, a loss of the epithelial marker cytokeratin and de novo expression of ? SMA and vimentin. Immunofluorescence staining showed the addition of various concentrations of BMP 7 to subconfluent cells for 24 and 48 hours, and the expression of ? SMA and vimentin was decreased. There was an increase in the percentage of cells expressing ? SMA with TGF ?1, which was completed inhibited by an addition of BMP 7(P

OBJECTIVE To estimate the cost of concentrated disinfectant supply of medical appliances,so as to provide the primary basis for improving the concentrated disinfectant supply model, along with regional integration.METHODS Using contrasting methodologies, the cost level before and after the concentrated disinfectant supply with regional integration was compared, and the individual cost and total cost were analyzed.RESULTS Material and human resource cost was the core of total cost.Concentration management of regional medical appliances disinfection supply could significantly reduce costs.CONCLUSIONS Integrated management of concentrated disinfectant supply could reduce cost and economize expenses.Actually, this model is worth promoting.

Objective To analyze the clinical pathological characteristics of achalasia patients complicated by esophageal cancer. Methods From January 2005 to May 2013,among 658 patients with achalasia, the clinical data, pathological characteristics of tumor and the treatment of those complicated by esophageal cancer were collected and analyzed. At the same time, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed to analyze the relationship between the course of achalasia and esophageal cancer. Results Among the 658 patients with achalasia,297(45.1%) cases were male and 361(54.9%) cases were female.A total of 62 cases (9.4%) were lost to follow-up and of 596 cases who completed the follow-up,26 cases (4.4 %) were complicated with esophageal cancer.Among the 26 patients complicated with esophageal cancer,69.2% (18/26) were male;the course from achalasia diagnosed to esophageal cancer was (16.5±8.2) years. The patients with a disease duration more than 10 years accounted for 88.5%(23/26),and 80.8% (21/26) underwent previous balloon dilatation or Heller surgery. The predilection site of esophageal cancer was in the middle esophagus of patients complicated by esophageal cancer (69.2%,18/26),the main type was squamous carcinoma (88.5%,23/26),65.4%(17/26) of the lesions invaded to muscular layer (stage T3 to T4),61.5%(16/26) had the late stage tumor (stage Ⅲ to Ⅳ),and 23.1%(6/26) had distant metastasis. The results of ROC curve analysis showed that when the duration was 10.5 years, the Youden index reached the maximum value (0.71).And 38.5% (10/26) of patients with esophageal cancer could not be treated with esophageal cancer radical surgery, and their average survival time was (11.4±6.6) months. Conclusion The patients with the duration of achalasia over 10.5 years are required for regular endoscopic examination to improve the prognosis.

Chinese Journal of Medical Ultrasound (Electronic Edition) 2010;07(12):2095-2100
Objective To investigate the change of cardiac function in elderly hypertensive patients with heart valve degenerative by echocardiography. Methods A total of 126 cases were divided into a valve disease group and non-valve disease group groups. The parameters of trial size, cardiac function and pulmonary artery pressure were detected. Results Of all 126 cases were the patients with hypertension including 28.6% (36/126) of valve disease group and 71.4% (90/126) of non-valve disease. There were 31 cases with mitral valve disease,22 cases with tricuspid valve disease; 26 cases with aortic valve disease; 36 cases with double or three alvular lesions in valve disease group. There was a significant difference in ventricle size and systolic function among valve disease group and non-valve disease group and control group. But there was no significant difference in thickness of ventricular wall between valve disease group and non-valve disease group. Conclusion The elderly hypertensive patient with valve disease was an independent factor for the development of congestive heart failure.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(2):97-100
Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a hereditary disease characterized by the progressive loss of photoreceptor cells. Disease pathology primarily affects rod photoreceptor cells first but light-insensitive cone photoreceptor bodies can survivor longer. Delivered by adeno-associated viral vector or lentiviral vector, expression of microbial-type rhodopsin, channelrhodopsin-2 or archaebacterial halorhodopsin in the survived retinal cells can substitute for the native phototransduction cascade in mouse models of retinitis pigmentosa. It can also restore light sensitivity and activate all retinal cone pathways and drive sophisticated retinal circuit functions. Thus, expression of channelrhodopsins or halorhodopsin might be a potential strategy for the restoration vision of patients with RP.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1986;0(01):-
Objective To explore the relation ship between expression of survivin gene in leukemia cells and its clinical effects, and to study the mechanism of survivin resist-apoptosis function in leukemia. Methods Survivin expression was detected by Western blots analysis and expressions of Fas and Caspase were examined by immunohistochemistry in 18 leukemia patients. Results Thirteen cases in peripheral blood mononuclear cell survivin positive expression was detected in 18 leukemia patients(72.2%), but no survivin expression in 10 normal persons. There were significant difference of survivin expression in ALL/ANLL patients groups and different WBC groups(P
