1.Survey of Toxoplasma gondii infection characteristics and its risk factors among healthy blood donation population in Shijiazhuang City,Hebei Prov-ince

Objective To understand the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection and its risk factors among healthy blood donation population in Shijiazhuang City,Hebei Province,so as to provide the evidence for developing effective prevention and control measures. Methods A total of 1630 cases of blood donors in Shijiazhuang City were chosen as respondents,and all the respondents were qualified to the standard of blood donation. The antibodies to T. gondii were detected by using ELISA. The in-fection rates of T. gondii in blood donation population were compared between/among different genders,ages,occupations,edu-cation levels,and places of residence. The risk factors for Toxoplasma infection were surveyed with questionnaires. Results A total of 1630 cases of healthy blood donors were investigated,and among which 126 cases were positive in the detection of anti-bodies to T. gondii and the positive rate was 7.73%. The positive rates between/among the different genders,ages,occupations, and education levels were significantly different( χ2 =4.36,13.98,9.71,7.65,respectively,all P < 0.05),and the positive rates among different places of residence were not significantly different( χ2 =1.63,P>0.05). The questionnaire survey showed that the T. gondii infection was closely related to keeping pets,outside eating frequently,having chafing dish or barbe-cue,sharing cutting board for cooked and uncooked food,and no the habit of washing hands before meals. Conclusions The infection rate of T. gondii is relatively high among the healthy blood donation population in Shijiazhuang region. The cognitive ed-ucation for T. gondii infection and infection monitoring are the keys to avoid the transfusion infection.

The hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) results can reflect the average level of blood glucose over the past 2-3 months,its clinical application value is transforming from evaluation indicator to diagnosis indicator.The application of HbA1c as a diagnostic indicator of diabetes is limited by many factors,such as multi-factor influence on measurement and its late start on standardization process in our country,optimal cut-point and the defect of HbA1c existing in the molecular level,etc.Therefore,clarifying the limitations of HbA1c in the practical application is of great significance for its clinical application.
4. Modern application and thinking of traditional Chinese medicine disease and syndrome combined with animal model

Traditional Chinese medicine animal models are widely used in the field of traditional Chinese medicine research. The combination of disease and syndrome models has become the trend of the development of traditional Chinese medicine animal models. In this paper, we find that model manufacturing still exists problems as following through literature review: the selected animals are not in conformity with the constitution of disease population; some diseases lack syndrome manifestation; the correlation between diseases and syndromes are not strong; the disease syndrome combined with animal model evaluation system is deficient and etc. The application of the model exists: ignore the periodicity of the model; ignore the impact of the environment on the animal model; toxicological research has the problem that normal animals are not suitable for TCM toxicology research. This paper proposes from six aspects: construct the animal model that conforms to the constitution of diseased population; expand the scope of use of the disease and syndrome combined animal model; use the theory of traditional Chinese medicine of “five transports and six qi”, “streamer midnight-midday ebb flow”, “seven emotions”, and “six kinky” climate box, and combined with “four diagnosis information” to solve the problem of weak correlation between diseases and syndromes; using “syndrome” index + “disease” indicators to improve the model evaluation criterion from four diagnostic information, biochemical indicators, molecular biology, and etc. Pay attention to the periodicity of the model, and pay particular attention to the influence of the environment on the formation of the animal model syndrome; In the toxicology research, the model animal should be used instead of the normal animal application, and the dosage of the traditional Chinese medicine should be adjusted to improve the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine. Through the improvement of the above problems, it is expected to provide relevant reference for the improvement of the animal model of Chinese medicine and its correct application.
6.Identification and analysis of vaginal lactobacilli in patients with bacterial vaginosis patients and healthy women in nationality of Pastoral area

Objective To identify and analyze the species of vaginal lactobacilli between patients with bacterial vaginosis (BV) and healthy women at childbearing age in Inner Mongolia. Methods From Jun. 2008 to Dec. 2008, 203 Mongolian healthy women, 74 Han healthy women and 102 Mongolian patients with BV from 3 pastoral areas were enrolled in this study. Isolation and culture of lactobacilli from vaginal wall were performed by modified culture medium. DNA of lactobacilli were extracted and sequenced. H2O2 were detected by TMB-HRP-MRS. Results(1)The rate of lactobacilli identification were 76.8%(156/203) in Mongolian healthy women and 21.6% (22/102) in Mongolian patients with BV, which reached statistical difference(P<0.01).Lactobacilli identification in Han healthy women [82.4%(61/74)] did not show significant difference with that of Mongolian healthy women (P>0.05). (2) The total of 193 strains and 11 species of Lactobacillus were detected in 203 Mongolian healthy women. Meanwhile,22 strains and 4 species of Lactobacillus were found in 102 Mongolian BV cases.(3)The rate of H2O2 generating Lactobacilli was 27.3% (6/22) in Mongolian BV patients and 75.7% (56/74)in Mongolian healthy women, which showed statistical difference(P<0.05). Conclusions The rate of Lactobacillus was not related with the race of women in pastoral area in Inner Mongolian. The amount of lactobacilli and H2O2 generating Lactobacilli in the vagina of BV patients was remarkably lower than those of healthy women at childbearing age.
7.Effect of different TGF-?1 concentrations on rat bone marrow endothelial progenitor cells proliferation in vitro

Objective To investigate the proliferation of rat bone marrow endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in the culture under different concentrations of TGF-?1 in order to optimize the culture conditions. Methods EPCs harvested from bone marrow by flushing fresh rat femur and tibia were isolated by density gradient centrifugation. The isolated cells were further purified and enriched by fast adhere to fibronectin coated dish. Flow cytometry was applied to enrich the cells positive to CD34, CD133 and VEGFR-2. EPCs were expanded in M199 medium in presence of different concentrations of TGF-?1 (10-300 pg/ml). Total cell output was recorded; and the expressions of CD34, CD133, and VEGFR-2 at different cell passages were analyzed through flow cytometer. 8.A phantom study of tumor contouring on PET imaging

Objective To explore an algorithm to define the threshold value for tumor contouring on 18F-fluorodexyglucose (FDG) PET imaging. Methods A National Electrical Manufacturing Association (NEMA)NU 2 1994 PET phantom with 5 spheres of different diameters were filled with 18F-FDG. Seven different sphere-to-background ratios were obtained and the phantom was scanned by Discovery LS 4. For each sphere-to-background ratio, the maximum standardized uptake value ( SUVmax ) of each sphere, the SUV of the border of each sphere ( SUVborder ), the mean SUV of a 1 cm region of background (SUVbg) and the diameter (D) of each sphere were measured. SPSS 13.0 software was used for curve fitting and regression analysis to obtain the threshold algorithm. The calculated thresholds were applied to delineate 29 pathologically confirmed lung cancer lesions on PET images and the obtained volumes were compared with the volumes contoured on CT images in lung window. Results The algorithm for defining contour threshold is TH% = 33.1% + 46.8% SUVbg/SUVmax + 13.9%/D ( r = 0.994) by phantom studies. For 29 lung cancer lesions, the average gross tumor volumes ( GTV ) delineated on PET and CT are ( 7.36 ± 1.62 ) ml and (8.31 ±2.05) ml, respectively (t = -1.26, P>0.05). Conclusion The proposed threshold algorithm for tumor contouring on PET image could provide comparable GTV with CT.
9.Characteristics of childhood traumatic experiences in borderline personality disorder in college students

Objective: To examine the characteristics of childhood traumatic experiences in borderline personality disorder (BPD) in college students. Methods: The Personality Diagnosis Questionnaire-~(4+) (PDQ-~(4+)), Personality Disorder Interview- Ⅳ (PDI - Ⅳ) and Childhood Trauma Questionnaire -28 Short Form (CTQ-SF) were administered to 3227 college students of sophomore and junior. Results: (1) In the investigation of PDQ-~(4+), 31 subjects with childhood traumatic experiences (0.96%) were diagnosed as BPD, and the total score of BDL sub-scale was (2. 62 ± 1.70), including 18 females and 13 males. In CTQ test, the scores of bad environment in females were significantly higher than that in males [(13.63±4.54) vs. (9.83±1.95), P<0.01] . (2) Subjects with BPD got higher scores than normal controls in CTQ-SF, such as the emotional abuse [(2.11 ±0.77) vs. (1.66±0.49), P<0.01] .Conclusion: college students with borderline personality disorder mostly have d different childhood traumatic experiences, and there exists a sex difference.
