Objective To study the clinical application s of intravenous myocardial contrast echocardiography (IMCE) in assessing myocardial reperfusion in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) using intravenously infused Levovist. Methods IMCE was performed in 13 AMI patients before and after thrombolytic therapy. The power Doppler signals of the myocardial segments were analyzed and the time-amplitude curves were plotted during Levovist infusion and incremental triggering. The maximal amplitude score (A), the mean ascending slope of the curve(?) and the product of A?? were measured. All patients were followed up for 3 months. And then IMCE indices were estimated for left ventricular function. Results There was a significant increase in A,? and A?? between before and after thrombolysis(P

China Biotechnology 2006;0(07):-
The production conditions of glutathione with shaking flask fermentation by the mutant Saccharomyces J-X25, a methionine-defected strain were studied, and the optimum culture conditions are as follows: initial pH6. 0, temperature 30℃, 100ml in 500ml flask, the inoculum size 10% and agitation rate 220r/min. The emphasis was on the stimulating effect on the cells by dioxogen and the sodium lactate as surfactant. Both of which were added at the logarithmic phase of fermentation, and the GSH production was up to 0. 253g/L , 52% higher than the control without the additions. Compared with the production of GSH initial strain that by the mutant in optimum conditions was increased by 79%.

Objective To analyze the clinical and pathological characteristics of children with lupus nephritis(LN).Methods Ninety-one children with LN were diagnosed from 1993 to 2005,according to the clinical literature and renal pathology and the data were retrospectively summarized. Results Within the cohort of 91 children, there were 69 females and 22 males(female to male ratio 3.1).Most of the sick children were at the school age ranging from 6.0 to 15.5 years old.Nephrotic syndrome(44.0%) was the most common clinical manifestation.Fifty-nine renal biopsies were performed.Class Ⅳ LN(59.3%) was the most frequent pathological findings."A full-house pattern" on immunofluorescence was found in 72.0% of biopsies. The clinical and pathological manifestations of some children were atypical. There were 3 patients characterized by predominant deposits of immunoglobulin M(IgM),1 patient with predominant deposits of IgA,and 2 children with pauci-immune LN.Three children with class Ⅱ LN in our study presented with nephrotic syndrome.LN was initially controlled by aggressive treatment in 93.7% of thse patients.Relapses of nephritis covered 27.1% of them, mostly caused by the intermittent treatment. Conclusions The clinical and pathological manifestations of LN were variable. Some atypical LN was considered to be associated with the distinct pathogenesis. Most of LN could be controlled by aggressive treatment.Long and regular treatment is necessary to improve the prognosis of LN.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety ofHongteng Chang'an Decoction in treating mild and moderate ulcerative colitis (UC) cases. Methods Totally 120 patients of mild or moderate UC were randomly divided into two groups:TCM group of 60 patients, treated by self-madeHongteng Chang'an Decoction;Western medicine group of 60 patients, treated by mesalazine orally. The treatment course of both groups was 6 weeks, also with two-week follow-up. The ESR and CRP levels before and after treatment, the healing of colonic mucosa under endoscopy (according to the Baron score), the clinical efficacy and safety were analyzed statistically. Results CRP of both groups decreased significantly, with obvious statistical significance (P<0.05);ESR of both groups decreased, without statistical significance (P>0.05). The effects of healing of colonic mucosa under endoscopy of TCM group and Western medicine group were 61.37% (27/44) and 64.29% (27/42), respectively, without obvious statistical significance (P>0.05). The total effective rates of TCM group and Western medicine group were 86.7% (52/60) and 75.0% (45/60), respectively, and the TCM group was superior to the Western medicine group (P<0.05).ConclusionHongteng Chang'an Decoction can reduce the serum level of CRP of the mild and moderate UC patients effectively, relieve inflammation, and promote the healing of colonic mucosa. The treatment of mild and moderate ulcerative colitis byHongteng Chang'an Decoction has good clinical efficacy, without toxic side effects.

OBJECTIVEPropylthiouracil (PTU) as a drug used during the treatment of hyperthyroidism could induce antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody-positive vasculitis. Here the author reported a childhood case of antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody-positive vasculitis induced by PTU, which is rarely described.
METHODSThe diagnosis was made according to the symptoms, signs, serum markers and renal biopsy, and the relevant literature was reviewed.
RESULTSThe 12-year-old girl presented with gross hematuria, proteinuria, renal function damage [Ccr 52.46 ml/(min. 1.73 m(2))], positive antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody (ANCA-MPO) (MPO ELISA 140%) and a vasculitis lesion in the renal biopsy sample. She had been treated with PTU for 5 years because of Graves disease. After the diagnosis, the PTU was withdrawn, and prednisone (40 mg/d) and cyclophosphamide (25 mg, Bid) were applied. Three weeks after the therapy with prednisone and cyclophosphamide the gross hematuria disappeared. Three months after the treatment the renal function returned to normal [Ccr 124 mg/(min.1.73 m(2))], and the titer of ANCA-MPO decreased from 140% to 57%.
CONCLUSIONPTU may induce antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody positive vasculitis. A right diagnosis and treatment can improve its prognosis of the disease.

Aim at the two problems in the field of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) mechanism elucidation, one is the lack of detailed biological processes information, next is the low efficient in constructing network models, we constructed an auxiliary elucidation system for the TCM mechanism and realize the automatic establishment of biological network model. This study used the Entity Grammar Systems (EGS) as the theoretical framework, integrated the data of formulae, herbs, chemical components, targets of component, biological reactions, signaling pathways and disease related proteins, established the formal models, wrote the reasoning engine, constructed the auxiliary elucidation system for the TCM mechanism elucidation. The platform provides an automatic modeling method for biological network model of TCM mechanism. It would be benefit to perform the in-depth research on TCM theory of natures and combination and provides the scientific references for R&D of TCM.
