To investigate the antibiotic resistance of bacteria isolated from bile, the bile from the surgical in-patients with bile duct infection from June 1995 to December 1998 was cultured and the distribution and antibiotic resistance of the isolates (not including anaeobes) were analyzed. The results showed that the cultured positive rate in the specimens was 69. 76 % (143/205). Among the isolates, most of them were E. coli and P. aeruginosa (31. 74 % and 18. 56 %, respectively), while Enterobacter, K. pneumonia and Enterococci were also commonly seen. All the isolates were resistant more or less to the commonly used antibiotics.

Objective To determine whether or not capsazepine(CPZ),a transient receptor po-tential vanilloid-1(TRPV1)antagonist,attenuates lidocaine-induced cytotoxicity on rat dorsal root ganglion (DRG)neurons in vitro.Methods Adequate DRG neurons from 3-day neonatal Wistar rats were obtained,cultured and purified in vitro.To achieve higher cell viability,we reduced the concen-tration of trypsin to 0.125% compared with others.The purified DRG neurons were incubated with 0,2.5,5,10,20 and 40 mmol/L lidocaine for 10 min,respectively,their viabilities were examined using Cell Counting Kit(CCK-8)assay,and the lethal concentration 50(LC50 )of lidocaine on DRG neurons was calculated.Then,the variation of lidocaine-induced cell viability at LC50 ,when 0,1,10 and 100 μmol/L CPZ were respectively added to the incubations,was examined with CCK-8 assay. Results The purified percentage of DRG neurons was as high as 91% after digesting by 0.125%trypsin and purifying in vitro.Cell viability of DRG neurons in group L1,L2,L3,L4,L5 was signifi-cantly down regulated compared with the control group,to be specific,that of L3,L4,L5 being re-markably lower than that of L1,that of L4,L5 lower than that of L2 and that of L5 lower than that L3 and L4.After lidocaine induced DRG neurons for 10 min,LC50 was 30 mmol/L;10 μmol/L and 100 μmol/L CPZ significantly reduced LC50 DRG neuron toxicity induced by lidocaine (P <0.05). The effect of 10 μmol/L CPZ had reached the maximal effect,decreasing the cell viability decrease from 50% to 35%.Conclusion The novel method in this experiment is effective to obtain good DRG neurons,the LC50 of lidocaine on rat DRG neurons is 30 mmol/L,and CPZ attenuates the cytotoxicity induced by lidocaine on rat DRG neurons.

Aim To study the effect and investigate the underlying mechanism of astragaloside Ⅳ on contraction and relaxation in isolated rat aortic rings.Methods The relaxation effect of astragaloside Ⅳ(1～100 mg?L~(-1))on phenylephrine-preconstricted aorta ring was recorded.The effect of astragaloside Ⅳ on the contraction induced by cumulative phenylephrine,KCl or CaCl_2,was recorded respectively.Results Astragaloside Ⅳ dilated aortic vessels in a dose-dependent manner,which was partly inhibited by preincubation with non-selective nitric oxide synthase inhibitor,guanylyl cyclase inhibitor and cyclooxygenases inhibitor indomethacin.Astragaloside IV could also antagonize phenylephrine-,KCl-and CaCl_2-induced vessel contraction.Conclusion Astragaloside IV dilated aortic vessels partially though endothelium-dependent NO pathway and inhibited vessel contraction via interfering Ca~(2+) influx.

Objective To study the imaging findings of the chest disease due to intravenous heroin abuse. Methods Twenty five cases of clinically confirmed chest disease due to intravenous heroin abuse were retrospectively analyzed. 25 cases had conventional X ray film, 6 cases had CT scanning, and 6 cases had echocardiography scanning. Results On X ray and CT, the following signs were found: lung making manifold ( n =5), small patchy shadow ( n =15), pneumatocele ( n =16), small cavity ( n =16), small node ( n =7), pleural effusion ( n =8), pneumothorax ( n =2), hydropneumothorax ( n =6), pulmonary edema ( n =2), megacardia ( n =11), multiple shaped lesion ( n =20). On echocardiography, tricuspid vegetation ( n =4) and tricuspid insufficiency ( n =4) were found. Conclusion The X ray and CT manifestations of chest inflammation due to intravenous heroin abuse are multiple. The multiple small cavities and pneumatoceles sign are of some value in the diagnosis of lung inflammation due to intravenous heroin abuse among young patients.

Nowadays, various voice disorders are sprung out towards teachers of primary and secondary school, affecting their personal life and social work. Through literature review, the author aims at clearing up series of assessments and methods of voice training which are suitable for the teachers of primary and secondary school, such as establishing a right way of respiratory, phonation and resonance, avoiding occupational risk factors such as vocal abuse or misuse to regain healthy voice. Review of the several relevant literature and commentary about voice disorders of the teachers in primary and secondary school. Although various methods of voice training were reported from time to time to guide us SLP to carry out voice therapy, however, deviations of the clinical data from scholars' different points of view are waiting for our further support through case-control study.

Objective: To understand the use patterns, initial abuse age, initial abuse reasons and the demographic characteristic of opiates abusers at six areas in Hunan Province. Methods: Combined stratified cluster-sampling, household and cue investigation, 370 opiate abusers from 68 192 community residents aged between 15 and 50 years were interviewed. Results:About 95% opiate abuses reported that they had abused heroin in their life time, and the other had abused dolantin and/or methadone. Inhalation and Injection were the first two ways of administration (81.4% and 38.6%). The average initial abuse age was 27?6 years, 90.2% abuses reported that they had abused illicit drug before 35 years. Curiosity, peer pressures and exciting seeking were the first three main reasons of initial abuse (75.1%, 72.7% and 56.5%, respectively). Opiates abusers tended to be male (87.3%), young people aged below 35 years (71.1%), and 78.7% of the abusers got only junior school or below education. Subjects with unstable occupation and marital status had higher use rate than those with stable ones.Conclusion:Heroin was the major opiates abused, the main administration was inhalation and injection in Hunan Province. Young and middle aged male with low educational level or without stable occupation or marital status were the majority of opiates abusers.

To explore how to assess objectively the effect of swallowing treatment by a case study of one female patient with nasopharynx cancer after radiotherapy; the swallowing treatment include: dilatation of cricopharyngeal muscle (total 44 times), larynx raising method, tongue base exercises and acupuncture [main aperture:Jin-jin, Yuye(EX-HN12), Lianquan(CV23), Fengchi(GB20), Yamen(GV15), Baihui(GV20)], mainly using the videofluoroscopy to testify curative effect; the results demonstrated the duration of swallowing thick barium (270% w/v) including oral transit time plus pharyngeal transit time shortened 14.3%, distance of larynx raising increased 36.7%, oral and pharyngeal residue reduced 10% compared with that before treatment, all these data totally explained the swallowing function improved a little, but not significantly. The research testify the measuring parameter with videofluoroscopy can be used to assess the swallowing function and curative effect objectively.

Objective To explore the diagnosis and treatment of compartment syndromes of the foot after calcaneal fractures. Methods Between October 1994 and June 1999, the intracompartmental pressures of foot were measured with the Whitesides method for 98 patients with calcaneal fractures. The interstitial pressures in 9 patients averaged 46 mmHg (range from 30 to 55 mmHg). All of the 9 patients were treated by fasciotomy through a hindfoot medial incision, then each intracompartment pressure were measured,respectively. An interosseous compartment pressure still was 40 mmHg. The patient whose foot had a severe crushing injury had fasciotomy of his interosseous compartment through two dorsal forefoot incisions. After a week, the wounds were covered with a split thinkness skin graft. The calcaneal fractures were treated with open reduction and internal fixation at 2 weeks after fasciotomy through a lateral incision. Results All of the 9 patients were followed up for a mean of 2 years (range from 18 to 35 months) after injury. Two patients had occasional hindfoot and ankle pain after walking or standing for a long time. One of them decreased pin stick sensation and two point discrimination. None of the cases developed stiffness of the forefoot or claw toes, nor soft tissue contracture and motor deficit. Conclusion It should not be neglected that the compartment syndromes of the foot may occur after calcaneal fractures. Intracompartment pressure measurements should be performed to confirm the diagnosis. Fasciotomy, which could be performed through a medial hindfoot incision, is the optimal way of treatment.

Aim To investigate the growth-inhibition and the mechanism of apoptosis induced by sophoridine(SRI) on SW620 cells.Method MTT assay was used to detect the half-inhibition concentration(IC50),and fluorescence microscopy,electron microscopy,DNA fragmentation analysis,flow cytometry(FCM) were used to demonstrate the presence of apoptosis.Results SRI inhibited the growth of SW620 cells significantly in a dose-and time-dependent manner,and morphological characteristics of apoptosis were observed with condensation of nucleus,bubble of cytoplasm,fragment of nucleus.A DNA ladder pattern of internucleosomalfragmentation was observed.Compared with that of control group,the percentage of the G0/G1 phase and the Sphase cells increased after treated by SRI.SW620 cells were induced to undergo apoptosis and underwent G0/G1 arrest with exposure to SRI shown by FCM.Conclusions Sophoridine could induce the inhibition of cell growth by means of apoptosis in a dose-and time-dependent manner,and the blocking of G0/G1 phase of cells was involved in the mechanism of apoptosis.

Objective To observe the relationship between CT signs, prognosis and the expression of CD44v3 and CD44v6 in peripheral non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods The expression of CD44v3 and CD44v6 was detected with immunohistochemistry (SP method) in 46 patients with peripheral NSCLC confirmed by surgery and pathology. The expression, CT signs and prognosis of NSCLC were analyzed respectively. Results The expression of CD44v3 and CD44v6 correlated with deep lobulation, spinous protuberant sign, short spiculation and lymph node enlargement of hila or mediastinum (P<0.05), but not with the tumor size, vacuole sign, vessel convergence sign and pleural indentation in CT images of peripheral NSCLC (P＞0.05). The expression of CD44v3 and CD44v6 correlated with the three-year survival rate in peripheral NSCLC patients (P<0.05). Conclusion Deep lobulation, spinous protuberant sign, short spiculation and lymph node enlargement of hila or mediastinum may indicate strong potential invasion and metastasis in peripheral NSCLC. The positive expression of CD44v3 and CD44v6 may suggest shorter survival time and poorer prognosis in peripheral NSCLC patients.
