PEG-modified magnetic Fe3O4 (Fe3O4-PEG) nanoparticles were sythesized using a solvothermal reaction and characterized with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). The photothermal effect and photothermal destruction of cancer cells were evaluated. Then the doxorubicin loaded Fe3O4-PEG (DOX-Fe3O4-PEG) nanoparticles were prepared. The cytotoxicity and combined chemotherapy/photothermal therapy (PTT) effect were investigated. Uniform PEG coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles with particle size of 155 nm were obtained in the experiment. The loading and release of doxorubicin on Fe3O4-PEG were pH-dependent. The drug loading capacity in water was 21%. The results of MTT indicated a good biocompatiblity of Fe3O4-PEG nanoparticles and high cytotoxicity of DOX-Fe3O4-PEG. In combined therapy experiment, photothermal therapy demonstrated unambiguously enhanced chemotherapy efficacy. In conclusion, the obtained Fe3O4-PEG nanoparticles which exhibit good photothermal effect and drug loading capacity can be used for chemotherapy and photothermal therapy. The synergetic anti-tumor activity indicates the potential for the combined application of chemotherapy and photothermal therapy in cancer treatment.

Objective: To compare the difference of infrared radiation temperature on body surface of points between healthy people and patients with hyperplasia of mammary glands. Method: The thermaCATMT P30 infrared thermal imaging system was selected to measure the infrared radiation temperature on body surface of eight points in four meridians in 74 patients with hyperplasia of mammary glands and 63 healthy people. Results: The infrared radiation temperatures on body surface of right Youmen (KI 21) in cases with hyperplasia of mammary glands were significantly higher than the healthy people (P=0.009), and the infrared radiation temperatures on left Youmen (KI 21) and other points had no significant difference with healthy people (P>0.05). Conclusion: The infrared radiation temperatures on body surface of right Youmen (KI 21) have significant differences with healthy people. This might occur because of the pathogenesis of hyperplasia of mammary glands and of the specificity of the point Youmen (KI 21).

Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a common symptom which associated with cancer itself or cancer treatments. CRF will not only interrupt the patient's treatment, but also affect the patient's quality of life seriously. To date, the pathogenesis of CRF is still unclear, and recognized effective treatment is lacking. It is the precondition of establishing standardized animal models for CRF to find effective treatments. This paper summarizes the animal model of CRF in order to find suitable methods, and distinguish the effects of different interventions.

Objective To analyze the variation types kaunene synthase-like (KSL) gene in Danshen (Salvia Root, Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae) from different producing areas in China, and investigate primarily the influence of KSL gene polymorphism on enzyme-catalyzed reaction of its codases. Methods Specific primers were designed, and full-length KSL genes of Danshen from different producing areas (Henan, Shandong, Sichuan, Hubei, Shanxi, Neimonggu, Hebei) in China were homologously cloned. The variation types were compared and mutation samples were selected to establish a prokaryotic expression system and inducible expression in vitro. The enzyme-catalyzed products of KSL gene were detected by using gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GS-MS) , and influence of KSL gene polymorphism of Danshen on protease catalytic efficiency was further analyzed. Results The full-length KSL gene was 1 788 bp, and there were totally 595 amino acid residues encoded. The sequencing results showed that there were polymorphisms in KSL gene of Danshen from different producing areas in China, which could cause synonymous and non-synonymous mutations. The catalytic efficiency of different genotypes of KSL was significantly different, which was the highest in Shanxi and the lowest in Inner Mongolia. The KSL gene containing A-type variation mutated at 1 047 bp in Danshen from4 producing areas including Shanxi, Hubei, Shandong, and Sichuan, and the catalytic efficiency of which was significantly higher than those containing no Atype variation in Danshen from4 producing areas including Henan, Hebei and Inner Mongolia. Conclusion KSL genes have gene polymorphisms indeed in Danshen from different producing areas. The non-synonymous mutations induced by polymorphisms can further lead to changes of amino acid sequences and finally resulting in difference in the catalytic efficiency of encoded enzymes. The polymorphisms of key enzyme genes in the synthesis pathway of tanshinones can be taken as a starting point to provide further reference for revealing the accumulation mechanism of tanshinones and breeding the excellent germplasm of Danshen.

Objective To explore the prognostic values of telomerase reverse transcriptase promoter (TERTp) mutation and 1p/19q co-deletion in newly-diagnosed O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) promoter un-methylated/isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) wild-type glioblastoma multiform (GBM). Methods A total of 82 patients pathologically newly-diagnosed MGMT promoter un-methylated/IDH wild-type GBM, admitted to our hospitals from March 2016 to November 2018, were included in this study. TERTp mutations (TERTp wild-type and TERTp mutation [C228 mutation and C250 mutation]) in GBM specimens were detected by PCR sequencing, 1p/19q co-deletion in GBM specimens was detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and clinical data, adverse reactions and prognoses of patients with different molecular typing were compared. Results There were 33 patients in the TERTp wild type group with mean age of 48 years, and 49 patients in the TERTp mutation group with mean age of 59 years; the difference of age was significant (P<0.05); there were no statistical differences in gender distribution, Karnofsky performance status (KPS) scores, tumor sites and surgical resection degrees between the two groups (P>0.05). There were 8 patients with 1p/19q co-deletion and 74 patients without 1p/19q co-deletion; no significant differences in above clinical parameters were noted between the two groups. There were no statistically significant differences in the incidences of bone marrow suppression, digestive tract response and fatigue, disease progression rate, or survival rate between patients from TERTp wild type group and TERTp mutation group, and between patients with 1p/19q co-deletion and patients without 1p/19q co-deletion (P>0.05). No significant differences in above clinical parameters, disease progression rate, and survival rate were noted between patients with C228 mutation and C250 mutation (P>0.05). Conclusion TERTp typing and 1p/19q co-deletion status do not have prognostic value in newly-diagnosed MGMT un-methylated/IDH wild-type GBM patients; patients with TERTp mutations have older age than wild-type patients; patients with C250 mutation trend to have higher survival rate than those with C228 mutation.
