International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2013;21(6):469-472
As a neuroprotective measure, the application and research of mild hypothermia in clinical practice have been very extensive.Using mild hypothermia has achieved a positive efficacy in many diseases, such as brain damage after cardiac arrest and neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, etc.Although mild hypothermia has a large number of animal experiments and clinical studies in the treatment of ischemic stroke, and animal experiments have confirmed that it has the exact neuroprotective effect, the neuroprotective effect of mild hypothermia in the treatment of ischemic stroke has not yet come to a unified conclusion in the clinical studies. Its clinical efficacy does not seem to be as optimistic as expected. Therefore,it is necessary to analyze the transforming problems of mild hypothermia for treatment of ischemic stroke from animal experiments to clinical practice, and to provide ideas for the clinical application of mild hypothermia for treatment of ischemic stroke.

Objective To study the dynamic change of polysaccharide from Asarum insigne in Guizhou during different harvest period and its hemostatic effect. Methods Asarum insigne polysaccharide was extracted by water isolation and alcohol precipitation. We measured the polysaccharide content by UV spectrophotometry after impurity and purification and detected the bleeding and clotting time by tail cutting and slide methods in mice. Results There was significant variation in polysaccharide content of Asarum insigne at different harvest time, which was at a higher level in June(1. 78%-1. 82%). The bleeding time in mice of normal control group was (6. 73±1. 21) min,and that in mice treated with refined polysaccharide at high dose was (4. 91±1. 58) min,the difference between two groups was statistically significant(P<0. 01). The clotting time in mice of normal control group was (7. 27±2. 09) min,and that in the refined polysaccharide at middle and high dose groups was (3. 96±1. 78) min and (3. 27±1. 61) min, respectively. The latter two groups were obviously different from the normal control group(P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). Conclusion The polysaccharide is an active hemostatic substance in Asarum insigne and the optimum harvest time of it is in June for the clinical use.

Objective To investigate the effect of early systemic nursing intervention applied by ward nurse on constipation among patients with depression. Methods A total of 144 participants were divided into the intervention group (72 cases) andthe control group (72 cases) by random number table. Except for a period of 4 weeks routine nursing and 4 weeks follow-up observation which were applied for control subjects, systemic nursing interventions werealso conducted inintervention patients. The incidence of constipation and constipation symptom scoreswere measured at the ends of the 4th and 8th week of treatment. Results The incidences of constipation and constipation symptom scores of the 4th and 8th weekend in the intervention group were 17.6% (12/68), 6.59 ± 4.08, 23.5% (16/68) and 6.81 ± 3.99 respectively. While in the control group they were 34.9%(22/63), 8.84 ± 4.45, 44.4%(28/63) and 10.52 ± 3.86 respectively. These differences between two groups at the 4th and 8th weekend were all significant (χ2=5.077, t=3.023, P < 0.05 and χ2=6.413, t=5.411, P < 0.05, respectively). Compared with the 4th weekend, in the 8th weekend, constipation rate and scores of constipation symptom were increased in thecontrol group (P < 0.05), but not in theintervention group (t=-1.965, P > 0.05). Conclusions In patients with depression, early systemic nursing intervention can effectively ameliorate the constipation caused by amitriptyline.

Chinese Circulation Journal 2014;(8):620-623
Objective: To study the relationship between Framingham risk score for coronary artery disease (CAD) and cognitive function in healthy community elders.
Methods: A total of 276 healthy community elders were evaluated by Framingham score to predict the risk for suffering from CAD in 10 years. The subjects were divided into 3 groups. High risk group (the risk > 20%), n=46, Mid risk group (the risk at 10%-20%), n=76 and Low risk group (the risk < 10%), n=154. The cognitive function was measured by mini-mental state examination (MMSE) and China adult intelligence scale (CISA). The differences of cognitive function levels to 3 CAD risk groups were studied.
Results: With the increased CAD incidence from Low risk, Mid risk to High risk groups, the MMSE score reduced accordingly (26.9 ± 1.45) vs (24.3 ± 1.53) vs (22.2 ± 1.43), P=0.014. Pearson analysis presented that MMSE score was negatively related to Framingham risk score (r=-0.213, P<0.001). There were several elements of cognitive function related to Framingham risk score including MMSE score, question answering, grid filling, oral arithmetic and word distinguishing (r=-0.247), (r=-0.167), (r=-0.132), (r=-0.152) and (r-0.256), all P<0.05.
Conclusion: CAD risk level was negatively related to cognitive function, the higher Framingham risk score resulted in the lower cognitive function in healthy community elder subjects.
