CT data regarding PUMCⅡ d2 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis obtained from one female patient were input into modeling software minics 11.11 to obtain medical simulation model. Then finite element analysis models of AIS patients (T1-S) were created by introducing simulation models into software abaqus 6.7.Finite element models of T6 11 segments were corrected by 5 different correction methods:simple concave bracing, simple convex pressurization, concave distraction and convex compression simultaneously, concave distraction prior to convex compression and concave distraction after convex pressurization.Abaqus software was used to simulate correction of scoliosis with vertebral arch pedicle screw by loading 50 N,100 N,and 200 N distraction forces on the concave side pedicles of the end vertebrae T6 and T11.The displacement of vertebrae T6 in Y-axis (sagittal plane) and Z-axis (coronal plane),which respectively represented the correction effects of kyphosis and scoliosis, was compared between prior to and after correction.Simple concave distraction provided better outcomes in terms of displacement of T6 in Z-axis than the remaining four methods (P < 0.01).Concave distraction and convex compression simultaneously, concave distraction prior to convex pressurization and concave distraction after convex compression produced identical displacements of T6 in Y-axis,which were all better than simple concave distraction (P< 0.01).The present findings imply that for curative effects of five methods on correction of scoliosis in the coronal plane:simple concave distraction> concave distraction and convex compression simultaneously = concave distraction prior to convex compressio= concave distraction after convex compression > simple convex pressurization;for curative effects of five methods on correction of kyphosis in the sagittal plane:simple convex compression > concave distraction and convex compression simultaneously = concave distraction prior to convex compression= concave distraction after convex compression> simple concave bracing.Simple concave distraction could not produce obvious corrective effects on kyphosis rather than lead to worsened kyphosis to some extent.Simple convex compression could not produce obvious corrective effects on scoliosis rather than result in aggravated scoliosis to some extent.

[Objective]To investigate the effects of the seed extract of Clausena lansium,N-methyl-N-cis-styryl-cinnamamide,on the penicillin-induced epilepsy in rats.[Methods]Thirty-two Sprague-Dawely rata were randomly divided into four groups with 8 rats in each group:normal control(20 mL/L Tween 80+Normal Saline),model control(20 mL/L Tween 80+Penicillin),low dose treatment(Cinnamamide 75 mg/kg+Penicillin),hish dose treatment(Cinnamamide 150 mg/kg+Penicillin).The epilepsy rat model was established by localized intracortical injections of penicillin. The effects of pretreatments of the rats with N-methyl-N-cis-styryl-cinnamamide(intraperitoneal injection,ip)on the penicillin-induced seizure activities and the epileptiform discharges recorded by electrocorticogram(ECoG)were observed.[Results]The penicillin-induced seizure was significantly lightened in both the pretreatment groups(75 and 150 mg/kg N-methyl-N-cis-styryl-cinnamamide),compared with the model group.N-methyl-N-cis-styryl-cinnamamide(75 and 150 mg/kg)could significantly prolonged the latency of epileptiform activities, shorten the duration of epileptiform discharges and decreased the mean spike frequency in the late stage(P<0.05 or P<0.01).However,there was no significant difference in the highest value or the lowest value of the epileptiform waves between the model and cinnamamide treatment groups.[Conclusion]The seed extract of Clansena lansium,N-methyl-N-cis-styryl-cinnamamide,can significantly inhibit the seizure and epileptiform discharges caused by penicillin-localized injections in the cortex of rats, suggesting that the natural substance has an anticonvulsive function.

YKL-40 (human cartilage glycoprotein 39) is a newly discovered inflammatory cytokine, which belongs to the member of 18 glycosyl hydrolase of mammal family. Previous studies have indicated that YKL-40 is associated with the acute or chronic inflammatory diseases and tumors. Studies in recent years have suggested that YKL-40 may be involved in the occurrence and development of atherosclerotic plaques, and it is correlated with the plaque instability. The physiological function and the mechanisms of YKL-40 are not fully understood. It may have the roes of promoting vascular smooth muscle migration and proliferation, promoting cell adhesion and proliferation, as well as regulating extracellular matrix remodeling The detection of YKL-40 may have some significance in the aided diagnosis, predicting prognosis, prevention of cardiocerebrovascular diseases, and even the establishment of new therapeutic strategies.

Objective:This work aimed to compare the three-year results, prognostic analysis, and adverse reactions of intensi-ty-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) positioned by PET-CT and conventional radiotherapy in locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who underwent concurrent chemotherapy. Methods:A clinical trial was carried out in Qingdao Cancer Hospi-tal. The patients who joined our study were divided into IMRT and conventional radiotherapy (CRT) groups. A total of 48 patients were in the IMRT group and another 40 were in the CRT group. The total dose was 60 Gy throughout the 6-week treatment. The plati-num-based concurrent chemotherapy, combined with regimens such as docetaxel, navelbine, and pemetrexed, was conducted for two cy-cles followed by two to four cycles of consolidation chemotherapy. Results:Significant differences were observed between the curative ratio of the IMRT (77.1%) and CRT (52.5%) groups (P=0.015). No significant difference existed between the short-term survival rates of the two groups. The 1-, 2-and 3-year survival rates were 77.1%, 54.2%, and 22.9%in the IMRT group, as well as 65.0%, 47.5%, and 17.5%in the CRT group, respectively. Significant differences existed in some adverse reactions between the two groups, such as radia-tion gastrointestinal reactions, esophagitis, and pneumonia. More patients died of local recurrence and radiation pneumonia in the CRT group than in the IMRT group. The local recurrence rate was also lower in the IMRT group than in the CRT group. Conclusion:IMRT has obvious advantages in improving the short-term curative effect and reducing adverse reactions. Regarding the survival rate, a long-term follow-up of the two groups is required in the future.

To investigate the expression of Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2 and 4 mRNA in local tissues of model of oropharyngeal candidiasis in mice and to explore the potential role of TLR2 and TLR4 in earlier period of immune response, a murine model of oropharyngeal candidiasis inoculated by cotton wool balls saturated with Candida albicans was established. Mice were sacrificed at the indicated time points and the oropharyngeal tissues were excised. The expression of TLR2 and TLR4 mRNA was detected by RT-PCR. The results showed that low level of TLR2/4 mRNA could be detected in oropharyngeal tissues, but they were markedly up-regulated 6 h after inoculation, peaking after 12-24 h. Tissue TLR4 mRNA was gradually down-regulated 24-48 h, while TLR2 mRNA levels remained high up to the 72nd h. These data suggested that oropharyngeal infection of Candida albicans could result in up-regulation of TLR2/4 mRNA expression in local tissues, which might play important roles in earlier period of immune response.

Objective: To study the pathophysiological role of tumor necrosis factor ? (TNF ?) and interleukin6 (IL 6) in trauma by assaying concentration of TNF ? in blood after maxillofacial gunshot wounds in dogs. Methods: Before and after gunshot wounds, concentration of TNF ? and IL 6 in the plasma of dogs were assessed by ELISA method at different times. Results: Although the systemic injuries in our gunshot wound model were no very severe and the dogs had no severe complications, the TNF ? concentration in plasma became significantly higher in the first 2 6 h after the gunshot wounds. They varied greatly with each dog and became normal after 10 h without treatment. IL 6 was not detected in blood. Conclusion: TNF ? expression in blood after gunshot wounds is the normal host immune response to the trauma, its circulating concentrations might be associated with the injury severity. But their transient expressions do not significantly increase the severity of the trauma. [
