Objective To compare the effects of resuscitation at pure oxygen environment(100% oxygen) or room air environment (21% oxygen) on the uhrastructure of cerebral cortical neurons in hypoxic neonatal rat.Methods Twenty Sprague-Dawley neonatal rats aged 7 days were divided into the pure oxygen environment (POE) and room air environment groups (RAE) after hypoxia,and each group was divided again into 24 h and 72 h subgroups.The pups were placed in an incubator containing 8% O_2 to be at acute hypoxia continued for 2.5 h.The pups were reoxygenated immediately after the above mentioned hypoxia.The pups of POE group were then placed in an incubator containing 100% oxygen and the flow time was 30 rain.The pups of RAE group were reoxygenated with room air in an incubator for 30 rain.According to the planned time points the pups were sacrificed and the brain was removed at 24 h and 72 h after treatment,respectively.The tissue of frontoparietal cortex of the fight cerebral hemisphere was prepared for transmission electron microscopic examination.Results In each reoxygenation group,edema was found in the neurons,neuropil and intercellular space.In the RAE 24 h group,the nuclear membrane in neurons was unclear,the amount of cell organelles was reduced,the mitochondria were swollen with damages of cristae.The rough endoplasmic reticulum was dilatated or vaeuolized and with reduction of ribosomes.The Golgi complex was vacuolized.The number of lysosomes was obviously increased.In the RAE 72 h groups,the changes were similar to those of the former group,but apoptotic-like nuclei and necrotic neurons were more frequently seen. The cellular damages of POE 24 h group were milder than those of RAE 24 h group. The mitochondria and rough endoplasmie reticulum were more abundant and showed less pathological changes in the POE 72 h group as compared with those of RAE 72 h group. Conclusion The rats of POE reoxygenation display milder ultrastructural damages, less apoptosis, necrosis and edema in cerebral neurons than those in rats after RAE reoxygenation.The protective effect of POE resuscitation on cerebral damage of hypoxic neonate rats is superior to that after RAE resuscitation. This hypoxic neonatal rat model may serve as a suitable animal model for research on cerebral cortex neurons caused by hypoxia.

OBJECTIVE To understand the feature of nosocomial infection in cerebral palsy and effective contermeasure s. METHODS Prospective and retrospective studies on 1272 hospitalized patients in recent two years were conducted. RESULTS Incidence rates of hospital infection that were calculated by the number of the patients and the cases were 9.28% and 9.75%.Two major infection sites were the respiratory and the gastrointestinal tracts.The primary disease was respiratory infection(47.46%) with increase in younger group and seasonaly change. CONCLUSIONS Cerebral palsy children are susceptible to the infection.Doctors should pay attention to the risk factors to prevent the occurrence of the infection.

AIM:To study the effect of Taxol on the proliferation, apoptosis, and mRNA expressions of α2,6-sialic acid (SA) and α2,6-sialyltransferase (ST6Gal) in mouse cervical cancer cell line U14.METHODS:After the U14 cells were treated with Taxol, the IC50 value of Taxol to U14 cells was detected by MTT assay.The expression of α2,6-SA and apoptosis-related factors (Bcl-2, Bax, caspase 8 and caspase 3), the apoptosis rate and cell cycle were determined by flow cytometry.The mRNA expression of ST6Gal1 and ST6Gal2 was detected by qPCR.RESULTS:As compared with control group, Taxol induced obvious U14 cell growth inhibition, reduced α2,6-SA expression, up-regulated Bax, down-regulated Bcl-2, decreased the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax, enhanced caspase 8 and caspase 3 activity, increased the apoptotic rate and cell proportions of Sub-G1 and S phases, and induced G2/M phase arrest.Taxol also down-regulated the mRNA expression of ST6Gal1, and slightly up-regulated the mRNA expression of ST6Gal2.CONCLUSION:α2,6-SA and ST6Gal are involved in the multiple effects of Taxol on modulation of the cell cycle and apoptosis in U14 cells.

Recent studies had demonstrated that Renin -angiotensin system ( RAS) plays an important role not only in the cardiovascular system ,but also in the occurrence and development of breast cancer .Associated with RAS receptor ,Angiotensin Ⅱ( Ang Ⅱ) and Angiotensin 1-7 ( Ang1-7 ) which are the major molecules of the RAS,respectively,promote or inhibit the occurrence and development of tumor .In this review,we summarize the current knowledge of the RAS in breast cancer ,and discuss the potential application of RAS related receptors targeted drugs in the clinical treatment of breast cancer .

Artery pulse theories are closely tied to body circulation theories.This design aims to build up a bridge between Chinese medicine and Western medicine through the method of engineering.It uses microscope to enlarge the simulated artery and get the blood pulse curve in an image processing way.In the same condition,there are quite close relations between blood pulse curve and artery pulse curve.It's easy to simulate the changes of the viscoelasticity through changing the artery materials,which can bring up a new artery pulse curve.The differences between the new artery pulse curve and the former one are comprehensively analyzed.This design explains the differences in Windkessel theory,and makes a conclusion.

Objective To evaluate the clinical results of an anatomical reconstruction technique for the lateral ligaments with semitendinosus autografts in treatment of chronic lateral ankle instability.Methods From October 2008 to October 2009, 16 patients with lateral instability of the ankle underwent surgery using the proposed methods. They were 8 men and 8 women, with a mean age of 28.2 years (range,19 to 47 years) . Nine patients received only the anterior talofibular ligament reconstruction. Seven patients received both the anterior talofibular ligament and the calcaneofibular ligament reconstruction. Standard stress radiographs under anesthesia were taken to determine which ligament would be reconstructed. The semitendinosus autografts were secured to the fibular insertion site with suture anchors and to the talar or calcaneus insertion site with interference screws. The American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) scores and standard stress radiographs were used to assess the patients preoperation and at the last follow-up.Results We had a mean follow-up of 12. 1 months (range, 6 to 18 months). In the 16 patients, the average preoperative AOFAS score was 70. 50 ± 3.98, and the final average AOFAS score increased to 93.06 ± 4. 78 ( t = - 24. 010, P = 0. 000). Their average anterior drawer sign improved from 8. 75 ± 3.38 mm to 3.51 ±1.63 mm ( t = 7. 028, P = 0. 000). In the 7 patients who had received both lateral ligaments reconstruction,their average talar tilt improved from 16. 18° ± 7.30° to 5.57° ± 2. 99° ( t = 5. 661, P = 0. 001 ). No significant complications were found in all but one patient who had a 10° limitation of dorsal flexion of the ankle.Conclusions Our short-term results reveal that anatomical reconstruction of the ligaments with chronic lateral ankle instability using the above-mentioned methods may be effective and have the advantages of precise anatomical reconstruction, firm fixation of the grafts, mini-invasive procedure for the fibular skeletal structure and peroneal tendons, and saving the length of grafts.

AIM To compare the effect of Piper Futokadsura Neoligans with Ginkgolides, a platelet activiting factor receptor antagonist, on cerebral ischemic area,region cerebral blood flow(rCBF) and neuroligic function deficits following focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion in rats. METHODS The middle cerebral artery (MCA) focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion rat models were used. The cerebral ischemic area, rCBF and neural function deficits were measured by TTC staining,hydyogen clearance and neurologic function scoring, respectively. RESULTS A significant reduction in infarct volume were found in the Piper Futokadsura Neoligans treated group as well as in the Ginkgolides treated group compared with the control group.Furthermore, Piper Futokadsura Neoligans induced significant amelioration of the rCBF decrease and neurologic dysfunction following focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion in rats. CONCLUSION Both Piper Futokadsura Neoligans and Ginkgolides have remarkable brain protective effects.

[Objective]To report the clinical results of free medical leg flap containing posterior tibial vessels (FMLFPTV) in repairing of serious limb trauma caused by high-energy in children and discuss the flap's unique superiorities.[Method]From Jan.1999 to Mar.2006,FMLFPTV were obtained under tourniquet and applied in ten children suffered from serious limb and extremity injuries complicated by soft tissue defects,meanwhile,vessels and nerves were repaired with the flaps' corresponding tissues,moreover,broken bones and tendons were reconstructed.[Result]Average blood loss was 183ml and mean operative time was 208 min.All flaps were transplanted successfully with excellent results including satisfactory limb appearance.Follow-up ranged 14 to 67 months (averaged 35 months).Sensation has recovered to more than S3 in all cases.In those who were treated with this innervated flap to repair defects of weight-bearing area of sole,no sore or ulcer occurred and normal gait recovered.Bone union took 4～9 months(averaged 6.7 months).Through investigation forms filled by parents and clinical examination,no blood supply problem or morbidity was discovered in donor limbs.[Conclusion]FMLFPTV is easy to dissect under tourniquets with relative short operative time and less blood lost which especially benefits children.The flap is thin and has almost necessary related tissues for all reconstructive needs,for example,to bridge vessel and nerve defects,and offer excellent results.It is an easy and reliable method.

[Objective]To report the clinical results of immediate reconstruction of open grade Ⅲ long bone fractures caused by high-energy.[Method]From Jan.2001 to Jul.2006,vascular flaps were applied in 29 patients suffering from massive limb trauma,complicated by Gustilo grade-Ⅲ open fractures(11 were type B,and 18 type C) and massive soft tissue defects,caused by high-energy,through an emergency procedure.Meanwhile,vessels and nerves were repaired,broken bones and tendons were reconstructed.The mean MESS(Mangled extremity severity score) score was 6.27(6.27?2.43).[Result]All limbs were salvaged and all the flaps survived without protracted course to obtain soft tissue coverage.The mean hospital stay was 23 days(12-67 days) and the follow-up ranged 14 to 58 months(mean 26 months).No severe complication occurred,including wound infection,bone nonunion,necrosis and morbidity.The ultimate functional results of the salvaged limbs were at least better than artificial limbs.[Conclusion]The immediate reconstruction of severely injured limbs complicated by Gustilo type Ⅲ fractures caused by high energy has the advantages over traditional methods.This technique enables controlling bone,soft tissue and other problems together through an emergency procedure with a relatively shortened in-hospital stay and less fibrosis,thereby favoring the functional outcome.Early wound healing favors antibiotic diffusion and local blood supply.It may be an alternative for fast fixation and better bone healing.
