[Objective]To investigate the role and mechanism of interleukin-1? on fibroblast synthesis of matrix metalloproteinase-3,and explore the impact of interleukin-1? on the formation of epidural scar.[Method]The NIH3T3 cells were divided into three groups:IL-1? group,IL-1? + SB202190 group and control group. After serum-free culture for 20 hours,IL-1? group was treated by IL-1? (10ng/ml) and IL-1? + SB202190 group was treated by the SB202190 (10?mol/L) for 1 hour before treatment with IL-1?(10ng/ml) and the control group was treated with 2% serum. Then those 3 groups were cultured for 24 hours under standard conditions (37℃ in a humidified atmosphere flushed with 5% CO2 in air). The expression of MMP-3 gene was examined by RT-PCR and Western blotting.[Result]The expression of MMP-3 significantly increased in the IL-1? group than that in the control group(P0.05). [Conclusion]IL-1? could stimulate the expression of MMP-3 in NIH3T3 cells which might inhibit the formation of epidural scar. Besides, the author found that the p38 pathway played an major role in this process.

BACKGROUND:Cervical Open-door laminoplasty with unilateral mass screw fixation and laminectomy with bilateral mass screw fixation are both procedures that treat cervical spondylotic myelopathy by expanding the space available for the spinal cord. Effectiveness and safety of two operative methods remain unclear. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the biocompatibility of implant and host between open-door laminoplasty with unilateral mass screw fixation and laminectomy with bilateral mass screw fixation to treat multi-segment cervical spondylotic myelopathy. METHODS: Data of 117 patients with multi-segment cervical spondylotic myelopathy (≥ 3 segments) were retrospectively analyzed. Sixty-five cases underwent open-door laminoplasty with unilateral mass screw fixation (laminoplasty group). Fifty-two cases underwent laminectomy with bilateral mass screw fixation (laminectomy group). Clinical outcomes were evaluated by the Japanese Orthopaedic Association scoring system and by recovery rate. Cervical curvature index and cervical range of motion were assessed by X-ray films in both groups. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The average folow-up time was 28 months (range 12-59 months) in both groups. No C5 nerve root palsy occurred in the two groups. Japanese Orthopaedic Association scores were greater during final folow-up than pre-fixation in both groups (P < 0.01). No significant difference in Japanese Orthopaedic Association score, recovery rate, and final folow-up cervical curvature index was detected in both groups (P > 0.05). Cervical range of motion was lower during final folow-up than pre-fixation in both groups (P < 0.01). Results confirmed that open-door laminoplasty with unilateral mass screw fixation and laminectomy with bilateral mass screw fixation have similar effectiveness in the improvement of neurological function, relieving pain and reducing complications, but wil greatly reduce the cervical range of motion.

Object To develop a method of multiplying virus free clonal seedlings of CV.85 5 of Rehmannia glutinosa (Gaert.) Libosch. ex Fisch. et Mey.. Methods The leaf cut segments with or without tips of plantlets were grown in different media (mg/L) (1.MS+BA 0.5; 2 MS+BA 0.5+NAA 0.02;3 MS+BA 0.5+NAA 0.02+GA 3 0.1; 4 1/2 MS+BA 0.1; 5 1/2 MS+BA 0.1+GA 3 0.1; 6.1/2 MS+GA 3 0.1) to select a suitable medium, and the height and the numbers of newly formed leaves and roots were recorded 30 days later. To screen out a favorable condition, similar segments were transferred to No.2 medium at different temperatures in different illuminations, and the height together with the leaf number and the fresh weight of the plantlets was recorded. Results In the former three media, the segments with tips were flourishing and one to three axillary buds were formed at its basal stem; while in those without tips almost every axillary bud developed with the main tip length 0.5~1.5 cm. In the later three media, thd elongation of the segments was usually overstimulated, and the slim plantlets with fewer leaves and more roots formed. When the segments cultured in No.2 medium, all records at 28 ℃ were higher than those at 23 ℃ in the same illuminations. But the leaf size and the height of the plantlets were inversely proportional to the intensity of illumination at the same temperature. In addition, antagonism between BA and GA 3 was found. Conclusion No.2 medium is more suitable for the multiplication of the virus free seedlings of 85 5 when cultured at 28 ℃ in the illumination of 1 000~2 000 lx.

Objective To evaluate the effect of dynamic lung compliance ( Cdyn) -guided positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) titration on extravascular lung water in elderly patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy. Methods Forty American Society of Anesthesiologists physical statusⅡ orⅢ patients, aged 65-80 yr, with body mass index of 19-28 kg∕m2 , scheduled for elective robot-assisted radical prostatectomy, were divided into 2 groups ( n=20 each) using a random number table method:control group (group C) and PEEP group (group P). In group P, immediately after endotracheal intuba-tion, immediately after establishing pneumoperitoneum-Trendelenburg position and after restoring the supine position, PEEP was set starting from the lowest PEEP allowed by the machine, increasing by 2 cmH2 O ev-ery 4 min until the maximum Cdyn was obtained. PEEP was not set in group C. Immediately after establis-hing the invasive blood pressure monitoring ( T1 ) , at 10 min after the first successful PEEP titration ( T2 ) , 10 min, 1 h and 2 h after the second successful PEEP titration ( T3-5 ) , 10 min after the third successful PEEP titration (T6), and 30 min after tracheal extubation (T7) in group P, or at T1, 10 min after intu-bation ( T2 ) , 10 min, 1 h and 2 h after establishing pneumoperitoneum-Trendelenburg position ( T3-5 ) , 10 min after restoring the supine position ( T6 ) and T7 in group C, blood samples were collected from the radial artery for blood gas analysis, and the oxygenation index was calculated. The B-line score was recor-ded at T1 and T7 . Results Compared with group C, the B-line score was significantly decreased at T7 , and the oxygenation index was increased at T5-7 in group P (P<0. 05). Conclusion Cdyn-guided PEEP titration can decrease the formation of extravascular lung water in elderly patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy.
