Objective To investigate the clinical and pathological features of gastric cancer with ovarian metastasis and to analyze the reasons for its misdiagnosis. Methods There were 52 cases of gastric cancer with ovarian metastasis who had pathologic diagnoses from Jan. 1990 to Jun. 2004, whose clinical datum, pathological classification and the reasons for misdiagnosis were reviewed retrospectively and analyzed. Results The average age of the patients was 40.15?1.28 ( the ages ranging from 22 to 64 ). These patients's first symptoms and signs often were a metastatic ovary cancer. The main ultrasonographic findings were either a complex type of mass with both solid and cystic characteristics or only solid one, most of which accompany hydroperitonia, and among them metastatic ovary tumors on both sides reached 76.9 %. The serum CA125 levels increased, amounting to ( 99.85?14.23)U/mL on the average. It was greatly lower than a primary ovarian cancer(P

Objective To explore the association between blood cadmium levels (BCLs) and clinicopathological characteristics of patients with breast cancer. Methods The clinicopathological characteristics and blood specimens of 186 patients diagnosed with breast cancer were collected between July and December 2009.BCLs were detected by graphite-furnace atomizer absorption spectrophotometer.Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis H test were used to compare the BCLs of patients with different clinical characteristics.Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relationships between BCLs and some indices of clinical characteristics. Results The BCLs was 2.280 (1.579) μg/L.The BCLs were significantly different in patients with different age and body mass index (BMI) (Z =-2.075,P =0.038;x2 =7.429,P =0.023).Also,there were significant differences in different T stages (x2 =10.137,P =0.017),M stages (Z =-2.225,P =0.026),clinical stages (x2 =16.060,P =0.001) and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) status (Z=-2.072,P=0.038).Excepting for age (r =0.126,P =0.066),BCLs were positively associated with BMI,T stage,M stage, clinical stage and HER-2 status (r=0.159,P =0.030;r =0.171,P=0.020;r =0.166,P =0.044;r=0.154,P =0.040;r =0.152,P =0.038).Conclusion The BCLs are associated with some clinicopathological characteristics of breast cancer, and high blood cadmium burden may promote the development of breast cancer.

The effects of two different histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors, sodium butyrate (NaB) and trichostatin A (TSA),on apoptosis of human leukemic cells in vitro and the molecular mechanisms were investigated. The experiments were divided up 5 groups: control group, NaB group, TSA group, NaB+Z-VAD-FMK group and TSA+Z-VAD-FMK group. The apoptosis rate was determined by morphological analysis and flow cytomytry. The expression of Daxx, Bcl-2, and Bcl-xl proteins was detected by Western blot. NaB and TSA could induce the apoptosis of HL-60 and K562 cells, and Z-VAD-FMK caused a marked decrease in apoptosis induced by HDAC inhibitors. HDAC inhibitors could down-regulate the expression of Daxx protein, but had no significant influence on the expression of Bcl-2 and Bcl-xl proteins. The results suggested that NaB and TSA induce distinct caspase-dependent apoptosis of human leukemic cells through down-regulating the expression of Daxx protein in vitro.

Objective To investigate the expression level of tetratricopeptide repeat protein 9A in tumors and its association with the patients'prognosis and immune infiltration. Methods TTC9A expression in different tumor tissues and its association with prognosis,DNA methylation, tumor mutation burden(TMB),and microsatellite instability(MSI)were analyzed based on data from TCGA and GTEx.TIMER and xCell were used to analyze the relationship between TTC9A expression and immune infiltration.Western blotting and RT-qPCR were used to detect the expression of TTC9A in 4 types of cancer cell lines. Results TTC9A expressions were significantly increased in many tumors and down-regulated in a few cancer types(P<0.05).Western blotting and RT-qPCR showed that TTC9A expressions were elevated in lung, colon and liver cancer cells but decreased in bladder cancer cells. In head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, renal clear cell carcinoma, renal papillary cell carcinoma,low-grade glioma, malignant mesothelioma, and endometrial carcinoma tumors,a high expression of TTC9A was strongly correlated with better overall survival(OS),disease-specific survival(DSS),and progression-free interval(PFI)(P<0.05),but was correlated with worse OS,DSS,and PFI in lung adenocarcinoma, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, adrenal carcinoma, and rectal adenocarcinoma(P<0.05).TTC9A hypermethylation was associated with a more favorable prognosis of glioblastoma multiforme,low-grade glioma, uveal melanoma, and ovarian plasmacytoid cystadenocarcinoma(P<0.05)but with poor prognosis of squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix and intracervical adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck, squamous cell carcinoma of the lungs, adrenal carcinoma, and endometrial carcinoma(P<0.05).In most of the cancer types,TTC9A was significantly correlated with the level of immune cell infiltration(P<0.05).Conclusion TTC9A can be used as a prognostic marker for a variety of cancers and is strongly associated with TBM,MSI and immune cell infiltration.

Objective:To establish a method for the determination of 4-methyl-2-pentanol in the air of workplace by gas chromatography. Methods:In January 2022, 4-methyl-2-pentanol in the air of workplace was collected by activated carbontube, eluted with dichloromethane-methanol (95∶5, V/ V), separated by capillary column and determined by gas chromatogram. Results:The limit of detection for 4-methyl-2-pentanol was 0.04 μg/ml. The linear range of 4-methyl-2-pentanol was 0.16-1616.60 μg/ml, with the regression equation of y=1.94 x-5.48, and the coefficient correlation was 0.99958, and the minimum detection concentration was 0.03 mg/m 3 (collected sample volume was 1.50 L). The within-run precisions were 1.08%-1.75% and the between-run precisions were 1.41%-2.52%. The desorption rates were 95.15%-99.91%. The samples could be stored at least 3 days at room temperature and 7 days at 4 ℃ without significant loss. Conclusion:The method has the advantages of good precision, high sensitivity and simple operation. It is suitable for the determination of 4-methyl-2-pentanol in the air of workplace.
