The incidence of cerebral watershed infarction is higher.At present,the correlation studies of cerebral watershed infarction and cerebral vascular stenosis are mostly limited to the guilty vascular lesions,and the atherosclerotic disease is a chronic systemic inflammatory response.It often exists multiple vascular stenosis.This article elaborates cerebral watershed infarction from the aspects of carotid artery complicated with other parts of the arterial stenosis,middle cerebral artery complicated with other parts of the artery stenosis and collateral circulation in order to improve the awareness of the correlation between watershed cerebral infarction and multiple cerebral artery stenosis.

Objective To analyze the clinical and immunological features of 45 pediatric patients with lupus nephritis (LN). Methods Forty-five LN patients were included in this study. Clinical, pathological data and immunological parameters were retrospectively analyzed. Results Forty-five LN patients had 6 males and 39 females, with the mean onset age of (10.9 ± 2.8) years. Acute nephritis was the most common type, accounting for 42.2%. Nephrotic syndrome accounted for 31.1%. Renal biopsy showed class II (17.8%), III (4.4%), IV (48.9%), V (2.2%), V+III (6.7%)and V+IV (13.3%)in 42 cases. The remis-sion rate reached 91.1%in the early therapeutic stage, and 15.0%patients recurred after 24-month follow-up. Conclusions The clinical manifestations of LN children are diverse. The renal pathology is complex. The clinical manifestations in part of the chil-dren are not consistent with renal pathology.

Aim To investigate the relevance of 5-hydroxytryptamine transporter(SERT)gene polymorphism and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods A total of 51 COPD patients and 49 healthy controls were collected.SERT gene polymorphism and mRNA expression in COPD and control groups were assayed by PCR and real-time PCR,respectively.Lung function was evaluated by a forced expiratory volume in 1 second(FEV1),forced vital capacity(FVC)and FEV1/FVC.Results Two allele gene 484 bp and 528 bp were detected.It consisted of three genotypes L/L(528/528),L/S(528/484)and S/S(484/484),and SS genotype was prevalent in control and COPD group;SERT mRNA expression in COPD group was higher than that in the control;L allele in COPD with PAH patients was higher than the control.The age at diagnosis of COPD in LS genotype patients was earlier compared with that in SS genotype patients.Conclusion SERT gene polymorphism is relevant to hereditary susceptibility of COPD,which may play an important role in the development of COPD,especially promoting PAH in advanced stage of COPD.

Objective To illustrate the chest radiography and MSCT findings of measles pneumonia in adults. Methods One hundred and sixty three measles patients underwent chest radiography, MSCT was performed in 3 of them. Measles pneumonia was confirmed in 10 patients (6.13%). Results Eight of 10 patients had abnormal appearances in initial chest radiography. The characteristic chest radiographic findings were ground-glass opacities (n=6) and bronchial wall thickening (n=2). MSCT showed bilateral multiple ground-glass opacities in 1 patient,unilateral patchy ground-glass opacities with lobular distribution in the right upper lung in 2 patients. Conclusions Familiarizing with radiographic and MSCT appearances of measles pneumonia in adults is very important for the differential diagnosis and appropriate management of measles pneumonia. Normal initial chest radiography cannot exclude the involvement of the lungs.

Objective:To assess the prevalence of depressive symptoms in type 2 diabetic patients with hypertension.Methods:A systematic electronic search was conducted in CNKI,Wanfang database,SinoMed,Pubmed and Embase.Literatures that reported the depressive symptoms status of type 2 diabetic patients with hypertension were included.All patients were divided into case group and control group,according to with or without hypertension.Meta-analysis was performed with Statal2.0 software after data extraction and the quality of studies assessment.Results:A total of 11 articles involving 8031 type 2 diabetic patients were included in the meta-analysis,including 4711 patients in case group and 3320 patients in control group.The pooled prevalence of depressive symptoms in case group was 43.5％ (95％ CI:26.1％-60.8％).The pooled prevalence of depressive symptoms in control group was 34.0％ (95％ CI:19.6％-48.5％).The pooled odds ratio was 1.32 (95％ CI:1.05-1.67,P ＜0.05).Conclusion:Hypertension increases the risk of developing depressive symptoms in type 2 diabetic patients.Therefore,medical staff should pay more attention to the mental health of this population.

Objective To explore the clinical application value of serum amyloid protein(SAA) and C reactive protein(CRP)in early diagnosis of hand‐foot‐mouth disease(HFMD)in children .Methods The serum/plasma levels of CRP and SAA in 81 children with HFMD(HFMD group)and 125 healthy children(healthy control group)were detected by using dot immunogold filtration as‐say .Data including white blood cell (WBC) count ,levels of CRP and SAA were obtained and analyzed .And diagnostic efficacies of these indicators were evaluated by using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve .Results The serum levels of SAA and CRP and WBC count in HFMD group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group ,and all had statistically significant differences(P<0 .05) .The area under the ROC curve(AUC) of SAA(0 .921) was higher than that of CRP(0 .728) ,SAA/CRP ra‐tio(0 .846) and WBC count(0 .721) for diagnosing HFMD ,there were statistically significant differences(P<0 .05) .Compared with CRP ,WBC count and SAA/CRP ratio ,SAA had better diagnostic efficacy .Conclusion As a new biomarker of infections ,SAA can effectively diagnose HFMD early and provide more sensitive reference to clinicians for early diagnosis ,which might be worthy of clinical application widely .

BACKGROUND: BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice are two inbred strains, but after voluntary movement, there is no report on how to scientifical y reasonably select behavioral experiment methods and indicators and to evaluate the learning and memory abilities of mice.
OBJECTIVE: To analyze and compare the behavioral indicators between BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice fol owing voluntary wheel running, to explore the effect of exercise on learning and memory, and to provide a reference for selecting reasonable behavioral indicators.
METHODS: 2.5-month-old BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into control and voluntary wheel running groups. Independent running wheel movement of mice was recorded with VitalView system. 4 weeks later, newborn neurons were labeled via DCX immunofluorescence. Spatial learning, memory and exploration abilities were compared through new arm test, new object recognition test and Morris water maze test.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) The mean spontaneous activity of BALB/c mice daily was 2.56 fold of that of C57BL/6 mice during wheel running (P < 0.001). (2) Hippocampal DCX-positive cel s in exercised BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice were more than those in control group. (3) Meantime, exhibited by higher frequencies to explore new arm or object, and longer time and distance of moving around them, the learning and exploring capability was improved after exercising (P < 0.001), especial y in BALB/c mice. (4) Wheel running C57BL/6 mice exhibited progressed spatial learning and memory abilities compared with control mice in Morris water maze test, characterized by decreased latency to target, elevated target crossings and longer time or distance in quadrant zone (P < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference between wheel running and control BALB/c mice. Taken these data together, voluntary wheel running contributed to hippocampal neurogenesis of BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice, accompanied by the change of learning and memory capability, which could be detected properly via both new arm test and new object recognition test, but for Morris water maze test, C57BL/6 mice might be superior to BALB/c mice.

Objective:To measure the nuclear factor kappa B(NF-?B) activation and its mRNA expression in the PBMC,and to analyze the interaction between NF-?B activation and IL-1?,IL-6,TNF-? mRNA expression for exploration the role of NF-?B in production of cytokine in schizophrenia.Methods:Transcription Factor Assay Kits were used to measure NF-?B activation.RT-PCR technique was perftormed to analyze semiquantitatively NF-?B,IL-1?,IL-6 and TNF-? mRNA expression in the PBMC in both schizophrenia and control group.Results:NF-?B activation and its mRNA expression in the schizophrenia group were significantly higher than in the control group(P0.05).IL-1?,IL-6 and TNF-? mRNA expressions in the PBMCs from the schizophrenia group were significantly higher than those from the control subjects(P0.05).Conclusion:It is of significance to measure NF-?B activation in evaluating the regulation function of NF-?B.Activated NF-?B plays an important role in mediating the expression of IL-1? and TNF-? gene in schizophrenia.

Objective Research on the correlation of dyslipidemia of civil aviation pilots and the TCM constitution aimed to explore that how professional environmental affects the lipid metabolism and the constitution.MethodsMeasure the lipid statusand TCM constitution of 656 pilots, and 496 of them with dyslipidemia were studied. The sample were stratified according to the age and the types of dyslipidemia, including young and middle-aged groups, only abnormal total cholesterol metabolism (TC), only abnormal triglyceride metabolism (TG), and both abnormal cholesterol and triglycerides metabolism groups and then the differences in prevalence of traditional Chinese medicine in different groups were analyzed and discussed. ResultsThe prevalence of abnormal lipid metabolism was 75.61% in 656 pilots. The top three TCM constitutions among the pilot with dyslipidemia were phlegm dampness constitution (35.89%), dampness heat constitution (33.06%) and deficiency of Yang(20.97%). If age was not considered, the prevalence of TCM constitutions were not significantly different between the groups of only abnormal TC and TG (P>0.05), while the prevalence of Yang deficiency and dampness heat constitutions of only either TC or TG abnormal group were significantly higher than those of the group of both abnormal TC, TG (χ2 values were 6.793, 5.077, P<0.05). Take age as considered, TC metabolic abnormalities in youth group, the prevalence of damp heat constitution of the only TC abnormal group was higher than both TC, TG abnormal group (χ2=7.637,P<0.01); and the prevalence of Qi deficiency and Yang deficiency constitution of the only TG abnormal group were higher than both TC, TG abnormal group (χ2values were 6.139, 7.525,P<0.05). In the middle-aged group, the prevalences of Yang deficiency and Qi stagnation constitution of only TC abnormal group were higher than only TG abnormal group (χ2 values were 9.750, 3.922,P<0.05), and the prevalence of Yang deficiency of only TC abnormal group was higher than both TC, TG abnormal group (χ2=5.208,P<0.05). The prevalence of Yang deficiency of both TC, TG abnormal group was higher than only TG abnormal group (χ2= 4.489,P<0.05). Conclusions The result showed high prevalence of dyslipidemia in the population of civil aviation pilots. Age and lipid metabolism status could affect the types of TCM constitution. Damp-heat constitution was the common type of TCM constitution in the population of the young pilot, and Yang deficiency and Qi stagnation constitution were the common types in the population of middle-aged people whose lipid metabolism were disorder. The group of only abnormal TC influence on TCM constitution more than both abnormal TC and TG.

Objective To evaluate the effects of curcumin pretreatment on the activity of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) during lung injury induced by intestinal ischemia-reperfusion (Ⅰ/R) in rats.Methods Twenty-four pathogen-free female Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing 180-220 g,were randomly divided into 3 groups (n =8 each) using a random number table:sham operation group (group Sham);intestinal Ⅰ/R group (group Ⅱ/R);curcumin pretreatment group (group Cur).A rat model of lung injury induced by intestinal Ⅰ/R which was produced by occlusion of superior mesenteric artery for 75 min followed by reperfusion was established.At 5 days before Ⅰ/R,curcumin 200 mg/kg (in 20 mg/ml of normal saline) was given through a gastric tube in group Cur,while the equal volume of normal saline was given instead in Sham and Ⅱ/R groups.The rats were sacrificed at 4 h of reperfusion,and the pulmonary specimens were obtained for determination of wet/dry lung weight ratio (W/D ratio),NO content (by using nitrate reductase method) and iNOS activity (using colorimetric method) and for examination of pathological changes (with light microscope).The pathological changes of the lung were scored.Results Compared with group Sham,the pathological scores,W/D ratio,NO content and iNOS activity were significantly increased in Ⅱ/ R and Cur groups.Compared with Ⅱ/R group,the pathological scores,W/D ratio,NO content and iNOS activity were significantly decreased in group Cur.The pathological changes of lungs were significantly attenuated in group Cur as compared with H/R group.Conclusion The mechanism by which curcumin pretreatment attenuates lung injury induced by intestinal Ⅰ/R is related to decrease in iNOS activity in rats.
