Objective To study the relationship between the expression of matrix metallopro-teinase- 2(MMP- 2) and the clinical pathological characteristics of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Irnmunohistochemistry technique (ABC) was used to detect the expression and location ofMMP- 2 in the tissue of 43 cases with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. ResultsThe positive ex-pression rate of the MMP - 2 protein was 29(67.4% ) among the 43 laryngeal tumor tissues. It was sig-nificantly related to metastasis of the cervical lymph nodes (P<0.05). MMP- 2 was immunolocalizedon the membranes and intracytoplasm of metastatic cluster tumor cells or the tumor cells adjacent to thebasement membrane. ConclusionThese results suggest that MMP- 2 plays an important role in thetumor invasion and metastasis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Objective To explore the correlation of pulmonary heart disease (PHD) with erythrocyte immunity function and serum erythropoietin(EPO)level. Methods Forty-eight patients with PHD were selected as PHD group, while forty people were chosen as control group. The erythrocyte C3b receptor (E-C3bRR), erythrocyte immunity complex (RBC-ICR) and serum EPO content were detected by yeast rosette method and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA),and blood gas indexes were examined by blood gas analyser. Results The E-C3bRR and serum EPO content were lower, while the RBC-ICR was higher in PHD group than in control group(both P< 0. 01). Compared with control group, PCOz and HCO3-levels were higher, but blood oxygen saturation(SaO2) level was lower in the PHD group than in control group(both P<0. 01). There were no differences in pH value and PO2between two groups(both P>0. 05). The E-C3bRR was positively related to serum EPO content (r=0. 623, P<0.01), and HCO3-was positively related to pH value and PCO2(r=0. 219 ,P<0. 05;r=0. 585,P<0. 01) ,whereas PCO2was negatively related to pH value(r=-0. 529,P<0.01),and PO2was positively related to SaO2(r=0. 682,P<0.01)in PHD group. Conclusions There is a correlation between E-C3bRR and serum EPO content in PHD patients.

OBJECTIVE:
Aimed to analyse the clinical features of the patients with sphenoid sinus mucocele, achieve earlier diagnosis and more timely intervention and decrease the occurrence of misdiagnoses.
METHOD:
A retrospective study was first conducted in patients with sphenoid sinus mucoele treated in Xiangya hospital from Jan 2000 to Jan 2015. Then literature reports on this disease were collected and analyzed from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Wan Fang database.
RESULT:
We collected 82 patients with sphenoid sinus mucocele treated in Xiangya hospital. There were 52 patients presented with headache, 31 patients presented with visual impairment, 10 patients presented with cranial nerve palsy, 2 patients presented with exophthalmos, 15 patients presented with nasal symptoms, and 5 patients with no obvious symptoms. There was no significant difference for symptoms distribution between male and female patients (P > 0.05). Among 45 patients with headache as first symptom and 10 patients with ethmoid sinus mucocele, there were 18 patients and 8 patients subsequently suffering from visual impairment, respectively. We also collected 161 patients in literature except for enrolling, the 82 patients treated in Xiangya hospital, and found that headache was the most common symptom, followed by visual impairment, in the two independent cohorts.
CONCLUSION
To the best of our knowledge, this is the study of maximum sample for sphenoid sinus mucocele in China. Headache and visual impairment are the most common symptoms for sphenoid sinus mucocele. Surgical treatment should be early performed when the desease accompanied with headache or ethmoid sinus mucocele, to avoid other complications such as visual impairment and even blindness.

Objective To investigate the association of serum C peptide concentration with the severity and the outcome of diabetic foot ulcer (DFU). Methods The clinical data of 257 inpatients with DFU were collected, including fasting and postprandial 2h C peptide levels and C peptide area under curve (AUCCP ). The patients were followed up on the outcomes of ulcers and death. The associations of serum C peptide concentration with the Wagner degree, infection severity, and healing rate were analyzed. Results The medians of fasting and 2h postprandial serum C peptide as well as AUCCP were 1. 37(0. 02 ~ 9. 00) nmol/ L, 3. 22(0. 02 ~ 29. 61) nmol/ L, and 511. 65 (3. 60 ~ 2 691. 30)nmol·min-1 ·L-1 respectively, which were lower than general levels. The time of follow-up in our study was 2. 8 (1. 0 ~ 5. 1) years. By the end of study, the wound of 75. 88% patients was healed, 3. 5%undergone major amputation, and 23. 74% died. After adjusting for relative factors, there were no significant associations of serum fasting and postprandial C peptide levels and AUCCP with Wagner degree and infection severity (P>0. 05). Cox regression analysis showed that the fasting plasma C peptide and hemoglobin were the independent protective factors for the healing of ulcers; old age, male, higher infection degree, and diabetes family history were their independent risk factors ( all P < 0. 05). Conclusions The lower plasma fasting C peptide concentration in patients with DFU is not correlated with Wagner degree and infection severity, but closely related with healing rate.

Objective:To retrospectively analyze the treatment effect and the patterns of failure associated with different clinical target volume on patients with esophageal cancer treated with three dimensional conformal or intensity modulated radiotherapy, and to determine whether involved field radiotherapy is practicable in these patients. Methods:A total of 68 patients with esophageal squa-mous cell carcinoma between January 2007 to June 2011 in our hospital underwent three dimensional conformal or intensity modulated radiotherapy, according to the CTV range is divided into lymph involved-field group (involved field group) and lymph extended field group (extended field group). Results:In Involved field group and expand field group the survival rate of 1, 2 years were 59%, 41%and 61%, 39% respectively (P=0.56), and local control rates were 66%, 48% and 68%, 49% respectively(P=0.78). The total failure rates of involved field and the expand field were 63%and 66%(P=0.89). The local failure rate was 53%and 59%, distant metastasis failure rates were 47%and 44%, the regional failure rates were 11.8%and 7.5%in Involved field and the expand field, there were no difference in Statistics (P=0.39). The lung V10, V20, V30 and mean lung dose of extended field group were greater than that of the in-volved field group, while the mean lung dose and V10 has statistical difference. Conclusion:The involved field group was similar as the extended field group in the survival rate and local control rate, the regional recurrence and distant metastasis are the main cause of treatment failure, so the involved field radiotherapy is feasible for locally advanced esophageal carcinoma.

In order to understand the distribution of schistosomiasis in mobile population in Guangxi zhuang Autonomous Region, field investigation was conducted in 19 endemic villages selected by cluster sampling. The mobile people who were older than 3 years old were investigated by questionnaire and indirect hemagglutination( IHA) , then the IHA-positive ones were detected by fecal examination. Meanwhile, a snail survey was carried out. The results showed that a total of 2 866 people were investigated , among which 1 380 came from 143 endemic areas. A total of 2 428 people were involved in IHA examination with a positive rate of 3.46% , and the rate of people from endemic areas were significantly higher than that of ones from non-endemic areas( P < 0.01). Sixty people were involved in fecal examination, and the results were all negative. An area of 899. 3 hm~2 was surveyed, and the snail area was 4.97 hm~2, while none of positive snails were found. It is suggested that the mobile population is the main risk factor for potential schistosomiasis transmission in Guangxi, and the surveillance on this population should be strengthened.

We analyzed the whole genome coding sequence of Volvariella volvacea to study the pattern utilization of codons by Codon W 1.4.2. As results, 24 optimal codons were identified. Moreover, the frequency of codons usage was calculated by CUSP program. We compared the frequency of codons usage of V. volvacea with other organisms including 6 modal value species (Homo sapiens, Saccharomys cerevisiae, Arabidopsis thalian, Mus musculus, Danio rerio and Drosophila melanogaster) and 4 edible fungi (Coprinopsis cinerea, Agaricus bisporus, Lentinula edodes and Pleurotus ostreatus). We found that there were less differences in 3 edible fungi (excluding Pleurotus ostreatus) than 6 modal value species, comparing with the frequency of codons usage of V. volvacea. With software SPSS16.0, cluster analysis which showed differences in the size of codon bias, reflects the evolutionary relationships between species, which can be used as a reference of evolutionary relationships of species. This was the first time for analysis the codon preference among the whole coding sequences of edible fungi, serving as theoretical basis to apply genetic engineering of V. volvacea.

Objective Most common infected bacteria were found to analyze their effects on clinical characteristics and 3-year outcome of patients with diabetic foot ulcer ( DFU ) . Methods Materials of cases with positive bacterial culture were selected from DFU patients. 203 cases were infected with the most common 6 strains of mono-bacteria, and 62 cases were infected with multi-bacteria. Data were grouped according to the most common 6 infected bacteria. The outcomes of healing, recurrence, amputation, cardiac events, cerebrovascular events and death were calculated of 3 years after hospitalization. Clinical characteristics of mono-and multi-infected groups and these 6 mono-bacterial infection groups, and risk factors to outcome were analyzed. Results No significant difference was found in baseline clinical characteristics, cardiac and cerebrovascular events, and death during follow-up between mono-and multi-infected groups. The most common 6 infected bacteria were staphylococcus aureus, pseudomonas aeruginosa, proteus, enterococcus faecalis, escherichia coli and klebsiella pneumoniae. Among these groups, there were no significant differences of baseline clinical characteristics and recurrence, cardiac and cerebrovascular events, and death except for the foot ulcer and foot ulcer related prognosis. In staphylococcus aureus infected group, severe lower extremity arterial disease (8.5%), Wagner grade 3-5 (48.9%), moderate and severe infection rate (34.0%) were significantly lower than other groups, and the healing rate ( 93. 6%) was higher than other groups ( all P<0.05). Severe lower extremity arterial disease, cardiac function grading over 3(NYHA), eGFR<60 ml·min-1· (1.73 m2)-1, duration of DFU over 30 days were the main risk factors for ulcers′healing. Wagner grade over 3 was main risk factor for minor amputation. Severe lower extremity arterial disease, Hb<90g/L were the main risk factors for major amputation. Cardiac function grading over 3 ( NYHA ) was main risk factor for cardiac events, and also for death. ALB<30 g/L was main risk factor for death (all P<0.05). Conclusion DFU patients infected with different strains of bacteria were significantly different in foot ulcer and healing rate, while not in cardiac and cerebrovascular events and death.
