It is known that ischemic cerebrovascular disease is causing enormous harm to human health on account of the resultant high morbidity and disability rate. In this connexion, the anticipated target is to control the size of focal ischemic cerebral infarction, which is also an important method for judgment of therapeutic efficacy. The key question is to survey the size accurately and objectively; at the same time, the quantitative analysis of focal ischemic cerebral infarction is the pivotal question affecting the experiment conclusion and the reliability level. In this paper are introduced and summarized the methods being recently and commonly used in survey and computation, and the studies made on quantitative analysis of focal ischemic cerebral infarction by 2, 3, 5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining method. Also are summarized the principles of dyeing in TTC method, the preparatory work, and the commonly used method of surveying and computation. It is the intent of this review to provide relevant data and suggestion for research workers.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2015;39(5):331-333
A new anastomat for digestive tract operations, based on the magnetic compressive technique and mechanical transmission mechanism, is composed of a removable head and a reusable body. The head includes two parts: the proximal end can be fixed to the body, and the distal end could be used for performing a purse string suture. The procedure of anastomosis is similar to that of the stapler, and the anastomoses is established using a pair of magnetic rings. The instrument makes magnamosis more simple and feasible, and it would facilitate the clinical application. The body of the anastomat is reusable and the head could be replaced according to the clinical scenarios, these could reduce the medical cost. The magnetic rings would be excreted with the feces, and there is no foreign body response at last.

Objective To investigate the safety, feasibility and results of laparoscopic assisted distal radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. Methods Twenty-three cases of gastric cancer were subjected to laparoscopic assisted distal radical gastrectomy, D_(1+α)/D_(1+β) lymphadenectomy on 3 cases and D_2 lymphadenectomy on 20 cases. All cases received Billroth I reconstruction. Results Laparoscopic assisted distal radical gastrectomy was carried out in all cases successfully. The mean operative time was (205 ±38 )min, mean blood loss was (105 ± 66) ml and mean number of lymph nodes dissected was 19.7 ± 6.2 each case. The mean postoperative time of recovery of bowel function was (3.5 ±1.2) d,mean postoperative time of liquid intake was (4.9 ±0.9) d and mean hospitalization was (10.2 ± 2.7) d. No postoperative death or anastomotic fistula was found. Postoperative upper gastrointestinal bleeding occurred in 1 case and was cured by conservative treatment. Follow-up for 1-12 months revealed no recurrence or metastasis. Conclusions Laparoscopic assisted distal radical gastrectomy is a safe and feasible procedure with satisfactory short-term outcomes. Moreover, the short-term outcomes may be improved if the patients are treated under the notion of fast track surgery.

OBJECTIVETo clone differentially expressed cDNA sequences involved in malignant transformation induced by benzo(a)pyrene metabolite dihydroxyepoxy benzo pyrene (BPDE).
METHODThe malignant transformation of human bronchial epithelial cell line 16HBE induced by BPDE in vitro was used as a model for comparing gene expression between the transformed cells and controls. cDNA representational difference analysis (cDNA-RDA) was performed to isolate differentially expressed cDNA fragment in transformed cells. The cDNA fragments were ligated to pGEM-T vector and transformed into JM109 bacteria. The plasmid DNA were sequenced and compared with data in GenBank by BLASTN.
RESULTSFive cDNA sequences were found to be novel ones and were registered in dbest database, which assigned accession numbers in GenBank are BG354691, BG354692, BG354693, BG354694 and BG354695, respectively. Eight of the remaining cDNA sequences showed sequence homology to those previously reported such as ribosomal protein S23, MLN137, ACTN4, transforming growth factor and G protein gene.
CONCLUSIONSThese 13 genes may be involved in BPDE-induced malignant transformation, but their biological characteristics and functions are left to further studies.

Objective:To evaluate the effect of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) on neurogenesis decline in sleep-deprived infancy rats.Methods:Seventy-eight clean-grade healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 7 days, weighing 10-15 g, were divided into 3 groups ( n=26 each) using a random number table method: control group (group Con), sleep deprivation group (group SD) and sleep deprivation plus NMN group (group SD+ NMN). Sleep deprivation model was established by gentle stimulation method with a brush (10 h per day) for 14 consecutive days.NMN 500 mg/kg was intraperitoneally injected in group SD+ NMN, while the equal volume of aqua pura was given instead in Con and SD groups.5′-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine (BrdU) 100 mg/kg was intraperitoneally injected immediately after the end of sleep deprivation to label the new-born cells. At 24 h after completion of sleep deprivation, the stem cell pluripotency transcription factor (SOX2) and doublecortin (DCX) positive cells in the hippocampal DG region were counted using immunofluorescence and immunohistochemical methods, and positron emission tomography-computed tomography was used to observe the metabolism of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose in the hippocampus. At 4 weeks after completion of sleep deprivation, the number of neuronal nuclei antigen (NeuN)/BrdU and glial fibrillary acid protein (GFAP)/BrdU positive cells in hippocampal DG region was recorded using immunofluorescence, and novel object recognition test was performed to evaluate the cognitive function. Results:Compared with group Con, the number of SOX2 and DCX positive cells was significantly reduced, the standard uptake value of glucose in the hippocampus was decreased, the number of NeuN/BrdU and GFAP/BrdU positive cells was reduced, and discrimination index in novel object recognition test was decreased in group SD ( P<0.05). Compared with group SD, the number of SOX2, DCX NeuN/BrdU and GFAP/BrdU positive cells was increased, the standard uptake value of glucose in the hippocampus was increased, and discrimination index in novel object recognition test was increased in group SD+ NMN ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Nicotinamide mononucleotide can promote neurogenesis, thus improving cognitive function, and the mechanism is related to increasing the metabolism of hippocampal glucose in sleep-deprived infancy rats.
