Objective To study the mutagenicity of water from Yangling-Xingping section of Weihe River and wastewater from paper mills along the river. Methods No1 and No2 paper mill as the pollution source were located along the Yangling-Xingping section of Weihe River, their sampling points were named paper mill 1 and paper mill 2.The outlets for sewage at the bank of Weihe River in Yangling and Xingping were selected the sampling points of pollution sections, namely Yangwu and Xingwu respectively. The clear sections (Yangshang and Xingshang) were situated at a distance of 1 km from polluted sections at the upper reaches of Weihe River were selected and at the sames at the lower reaches were selected as the self-purification sections, namely Yangxia and Xingxia. The mutagenicity of water samples collected from above sampling points was tested by Ames test, mouse sperm malformation test, Vicia faba root tips cell micronucleus test. Results The results of Ames test showed that the water samples of Xingwu, Xingxia and two paper mills presented mutigenicity. The water samples of Xingwu, Xingxia and two paper mills showed significantly higher levels of sperm malformation rates compared with that of negative control group(P

Objective To assess the biophysical characteristics of normal skin and inflammatory skin lesions in mild and moderate acne. Methods Seventy-five mild and moderate acne vulgaris patients were included in the study. One inflammatory lesion measuring 2.0 to 5.0 mm in diameter which occurred within 48 hours prior to the measurement was selected as the target lesion. Trans-epidermis water loss (TEWL), capacitance and a* value were measured in target lesions and lesion-adjacent normal skin. Sebum content immediately,1 and 4 (saturated) hours after face washing was also determined on target lesions and central forehead between the eyebrows. Sebum secretion rate (SSR) was calculated. Results The TEWL and SSR significantly increased in the lesion-adjacent normal skin with the increment of inflammatory lesion number (both P < 0.05), and increased in target lesions with the elevation of a* value (both P < 0.05). The target lesions exhibited a significantly higher TEWL but a lower saturated sebum content and SSR than the adjacent normal skin did (all P <0.05). Conclusions The severity of inflammatory lesions is correlated with the impaired barrier function and increased SSR in facial skin. Compared with the adjacent normal skin, inflammatory skin lesions have a reduced skin barrier function and SSR.

Objective:To evaluate the prediction value of preoperative Fibrinogen(FIB) in combination with neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)for the prognosis of operable pancreatic cancer patients. Methods:The clinical data of 124 patients who underwent radical resection for pancreatic cancer in our hospital from Jan 2010 to Dec 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into three groups according the high and low NLR, FIB value which defined by the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC). The clinicopathological data and overall median survival time were compared between the three groups. Results:Univarate analysis showed that age, tumor stage, NLR, FIB and F-NLR score were associated with the prognosis( P<0.05), while multivariate analysis showed that high F-NLR score was the independent prognostic factor. The median survival time of patients with F-NLR scores 0, 1 and 2 group was 30.6, 20.3 and 13.9 months( P<0.05). The prognosis of high F-NLR score was significantly worse than that of low F-NLR score( P<0.05). Conclusions:A high preoperative F-NLR score was a promising predictor for the prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients after radical resection.

Objective To explore the evaluation methods of deodorants for patients with axillary odor. Methods Four trained judges used a blind method to evaluate 60 subjects directly or indirectly before and 6 hours and 24 hours after using deodorants. New T-shirts were provided for the subjects each time after grading. Then the judges evaluated the odor from the T-shirt as indirect axillary evaluation method. Then statistic analysis was used to compare the odor changes of axillary odor. Results The odors of axillary area were all decreased by two evaluation methods after using 3 different deodorants. But the efficacy of 3 deodorants were not completely same. Conclusion Direct axillary odor evaluation is a good method to evaluate the efficacy of deodorants.

In subjects aged above 40 years old in Pudong,Shanghai, the annual progression rates from normal glucose regulation to impaired glucose tolerance and to diabetes were 9.5%and 4.4%respectively.and the annual progression rate in subjects with impaired Slucose regulation to diabetes was 20.2%.The conversion rate to diabetes increased along with elevated number of risk factors.

Objectives To investigate the relationship between polymorphisms in the collagen type I alpha 2 (COL1A2),osteocalcin (OC) gene and serum calciotropic hormone levels.Method One hundred twenty-two healthy children aged 8-12 years old were recruited. The Pvu Ⅱ and Rsa Ⅰ polymorphisms in the COL1A2 gene and Hind Ⅲ polymorphism in the OC gene were determined using the PCR-RFLP procedure.Calcitonin(CT) and OC levels in the serum were measured using radioimmunassays. Results The calcium and CT in serum of children carrying the homozygous genotype RR were found to be significantly higher compared to children carrying the homozygous genotype rr (P
8.Pathogenesis of breast cancer-related ischemic stroke
Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2018;41(11):1038-1041
Due to the complex and diverse cell types, growth sites and metastasis of cancer, the pathogenesis of cancer-related ischemic stroke may be diverse. Existing research shows that, the incidence of ischemic stroke in breast cancer patients is higher than that in normal people. In other words, there is breast cancer-related ischemic stroke in theory. But the exact pathogenesis is not clear, which may include breast cancer direct invasion to heart or blood vessels, high blood coagulation state, and the influence of relevant treatment measures, etc.

Atherosclerosis, one of the serious cardiovascular diseases, is very harmful to human bodies. The early diagnosis of arteriosclerosis is of great significance. In this paper, we collected pulse from healthy adults and patients with atherosclerosis. Using Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) and sample entropy, we analyzed the pulse and found the differences between the patients and healthy people. After using the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) to process pulse signals, we calculated sample entropy for each intrinsic mode function (IMF), and did statistical analysis of the IMF. The sample entropy of a first IMF from patients with atherosclerosis is less than that from healthy persons, and there was significant differences between the healthy and patient groups. In calculating the energy value of different frequencies on the HHT marginal spectrum, we found the energy in patients moved to low frequencies obviously. The energy value of frequency between 0-1 Hz was significantly higher in patients than in the healthy group. The t test also showed that the values between the two groups had significant differences. The statistics and figures showed that early diagnosis was feasible based on HHT and sample entropy.

ObjectiveTo investigate the feasibility and efficacy of using the hepatoduodenal ligament tension-reduced operation (tension-reduced operation in short) for iatrogenic bile duct injury where the bile duct was severely defective. MethodsBetween March 2006 and May 2009, the authors treated 6 patients with iatrogenic bile duct injury (Bismuth type Ⅱ : 5 patients and type Ⅲ : 1 patient). A no. 7 black silk thread was used to hold the hilar plate tissues and the seromuscular layer of the bulbous part of the duodenum closer together and knots were tied. This method brought the porta hepatis and the duodenal bulb closer together and the hepatoduodenal ligament was shortened. An end to end anastomosis could then be made between the two broken ends of the defective bile duct without tension. ResultsSix patients suffered from bile duct injury and they recovered fully after the tensionreduced operation. There was no complication on follow-up. ConclusionsThe tension-reduced operation was efficacious in the treatment of iatrogenic bile duct injury. This technique should be popularized and more widely used.
