It is difficult to reflect the properties of samples from the signal directly collected by the low field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analyzer. People must obtain the relationship between the relaxation time and the original signal amplitude of every relaxation component by inversion algorithm. Consequently, the technology of T2 spectrum inversion is crucial to the application of NMR data. This study optimized the regularization factor selection method and presented the regularization algorithm for inversion of low field NMR relaxation distribution, which is based on the regularization theory of ill-posed inverse problem. The results of numerical simulation experiments by Matlab7.0 showed that this method could effectively analyze and process the NMR relaxation data.

Objective To explore the dynamic changes of endothelial barrier antigen (EBA) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expressions in cerebral cortex under the condition of blood-brain barrier damage in rats following radi?ation-induced brain injury, which provided clinical references. Methods Forty-eight clean grade male SD rats were divid?ed into the control group and 7 d, 14 d, 28 d after brain irradiation group (n=12 for each group) by using stochastic indicator method. The radiation-induced brain injury model was established by using electronic computer X-ray tomography tech?nique. The 3%Evans blue (EB) was injected into rats according to the dose of 3 mL/kg via the tail vein, then the blood ves?sels of cerebral cortex were exposed after having a craniotomy. EB extravasation was detected by microcirculation micro?scope. The permeability of blood-brain barrier was evaluated by using microscope vascular camera device. The expressions of EBA and VEGF in the cerebral cortex were measured by immunohistochemistry staining in each group. Results Both of EB extravasation and VEGF expression in rat cerebral cortex were significantly increased in injury group at day 7, 14 and 28 after brain irradiation compared with those of control group (P<0.05), and which were gradually decreased from day 7 to day 28 after brain irradiation. There were significant differences in EB extravasation and VEGF expression between the injury subgroups (P<0.05). There was a positive correlation between EB extravasation and VEGF expression (r=0.898, P<0.001). The expression levels of EBA were decreased at different time points in injury groups compared with those of control group (P<0.05), and gradually increased from day 7 to 28 after injury. There were significant differences in expression levels of EBA between injury subgroups (P<0.05). The expression of EBA was negatively correlated with EB extravasation (r=-0.866, P<0.001). Conclusion The increases of blood-brain barrier permeability have important relation to the decreases of EBA expression and the increases of VEGF expression after radiation-induced brain injury.

The purpose of this study was to test whether oxygen carriers could decrease tissue injury in a rat model of acute myocardial infarct. The study included 3 groups: SD rats in group II and group III were subjected to permanent occlusion of their left anterior descending coronary arteries; SD rats in group I were subjected to sham-operation. The success of modeling was assartained by ECG. Then the rats were given drug via caudal veins for 2 days. A quantitative evaluation was made with an automatic device for interpretation of cardiac troponin T (cTnT); heart staining was made for the calculation of myocardial infarction size (MIS); and myocardial tissue was taken and subjected to routine pathological hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining for showing myocardial cell injury. cTnT in the sham-operation group was significantly lower by comparison with that in the model group (P < 0.01), and it was slightly lower in the oxygen carriers group than that in the model group, but there was no statistically significant difference (P = 0.18); MIS was significantly smaller in the sham-operation group than that in the model group (P < 0.01), and it was greater in the model rats than that in the oxygen carriers rats (P < 0.05). HE staining of myocardicum in the oxygen carriers group was significantly better than that in the model group (P < 0.01). The evidence suggested that oxygen carriers increased oxygen supply to ischemic myocardium, reduced the myocardial injury, and thus might offer a novel treatment of myocardial infarction.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the impact of depression and anxiety assessment performed in gastrointestinal cancer patients on postoperative depression and anxiety symptom and mental health service visit.
METHODSA total of 254 gastrointestinal cancer patients who underwent surgical procedure were assigned into assessment group (n=121) and control group (n=133). Depression and anxiety assessment were performed with PHQ-9 and GAD-7 in assessment group on admission, discharge and at 3-month follow-up while in control group only at 3-month follow-up. The point prevalence of depression and anxiety were evaluated in assessment group with established cut-off reported by ASCO defining depression as a PHQ-9 score no less than 8 and anxiety as a GAD-7 score no less than 5. PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scores at 3-month follow-up were compared using Mann-Whitney U test.
RESULTSAccording to the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 score, the prevalence of depression was 28.9%(35/121) and anxiety was 37.2%(45/121) in assessment group, and depression was found in 9.9%(12/121) with comorbid anxiety. During the 3-month follow-up, the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 score in assessment group (6.02±4.67 and 4.19±3.95) were both lower than those in control group (8.83±6.63 and 6.41±5.80) with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). Patients in assessment group were more likely to seek for help in mental health service than those in control group [10.7%(13/121) vs. 3.0%(4/133), χ(2)=9.726, P=0.014] in 3-month follow-up after surgery.
CONCLUSIONSThe prevalence of depression and anxiety is high in gastrointestinal cancer patients. Depression and anxiety assessment routinely performed for gastrointestinal cancer patients can enhance utilization of mental health service and reduce postoperative depression and anxiety symptom thus potentially improve quality of life.

Journal of Clinical Neurology 2023;19(4):338-343
Background:
and Purpose By measuring a newly defined parameter, the carotid–cerebral pulse wave velocity (ccPWV), this study aimed to determine the association of intracranial artery calcification (IAC) with arterial stiffness as reflected by the pulse wave velocity between the carotid and middle cerebral arteries using transcranial Doppler sonography in patients with acute stroke.
Methods:
We recruited 146 patients with ischemic stroke from our stroke center. Computed tomography of the head was used to assess the presence and severity of IAC. Arterial stiffness was evaluated using ccPWV. Data are presented as quartiles of ccPWV. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to assess the independent relationship between ccPWV and IAC.
Results:
The IAC prevalence increased with the ccPWV quartile, being 54%, 76%, 83%, and 89% for quartiles 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively (p<0.001) as did IAC scores, with median [interquartile range] values of 0 [0–2], 3 [2–4], 4 [2–5], and 5 [4–6], respectively (p<0.001). After additionally adjusting for age and hypertension, a significant correlation was only found between quartiles 3 and 4 of ccPWV and IAC scores. The odds ratio (95% confidence interval) for the IAC scores was 1.78 (1.28–2.50) (p=0.001) in quartile 4 of ccPWV and 1.45 (1.07–1.95) (p=0.015) in quartile 3 compared with quartile 1.
Conclusions
We found that in patients with acute ischemic stroke, ccPWV was positively related to the degree of IAC. Future longitudinal cohort studies may help to identify the potential role of IAC in the progression of cerebral arterial stiffness.

Objective:To compare 3D-printing-assisted surgery and conventional surgery in the treatment of Schazker type Ⅵ tibial plateau fractures. Methods:A retrospective study was conducted to analyze the clinical data of 50 patients with type Ⅵ tibial plateau fracture who had been treated from January 2019 to December 2021 at the 5 Departments of Orthopedics in The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, The First People's Hospital of Jiujiang, Pingkuang General Hospital, Ganzhou People's Hospital, and Nanchang Hongdu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The patients were divided into 2 groups according to their different treatment methods. In the 3D printing group of 25 cases treated by 3D-printing-assisted surgery, there were 14 males and 11 females, with an age of (42.5±9.1) years; in the conventional group of 25 cases treated by conventional surgery, there were 13 males and 12 females with an age of (42.2±9.3) years. The 2 groups were compared in terms of operation time, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative fluoroscopy frequency, fracture healing time, postoperative complications, the Rasmussen radiological scores and the American Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) knee function scores at 6 and 12 months after operation. Results:There was no significant difference in the preoperative general data between the 2 groups, indicating comparability ( P>0.05). The operation time [(125.4±10.6) min], intraoperative blood loss [(206.2±16.3) mL], intraoperative fluoroscopy frequency [(9.2±2.7) times] and fracture healing time [(3.0±0.7) months] in the 3D printing group were all significantly less than those in the conventional group [(168.2±14.1) min, (303.2±20.4) mL, (15.5±3.5) times and (4.1±0.8) months] while the Rasmussen radiological scores (17.6±1.2 and 17.9±0.6) and HSS knee scores (90.8±6.4 and 91.5±5.6) at 6 and 12 months after operation in the 3D printing group were all significantly higher than those in the conventional group (16.2±2.6 and 16.7±2.2; 84.5±9.2 and 87.6±8.0) (all P<0.05). In the 3D printing group, there were 1 case of wound infection and 1 case of wound dehiscence after operation. In the conventional group, there were 2 cases of wound skin necrosis, 3 cases of wound dehiscence, 1 case of traumatic arthritis, 2 cases of wound infection, and 1 case of screw loosening. The incidence of complications in the 3D printing group (8.0%, 2/28) was significantly lower than that in the conventional group (36.0%, 9/25) ( P<0.05). Conclusion:In the treatment of Schatzker type VI tibial plateau fractures, compared with conventional surgery, 3D-printing-assisted surgery can lead to better curative outcomes, because it is conducive to lowering surgical difficulty, reducing postoperative complications, and promoting fracture union and functional recovery of the knee.
