International Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2006;0(01):-
Respiration is one of the most important modulators of heart rate variability(HRV). The modulation mechanism of respiration on HRV were introduced. The effects of respiratory rate, respiratory volume and respiratory patterns on HRV were discussed, and these effects on HRV in patients were also referred. These respiratory effects should be taken into account when HRV is used to predict cardiac vulnerability.

ObjectiveTo discuss the influence of community health education on the life style of patients with primary hypertension. MethodsIn the form of lectures, consultation, playing video tape and delivering materials in health education, the community health education concerning psychological nursing, proper food program, timely and reasonable sport, monitoring of blood pressure and timely taking medicine was carried out in 268 patients with hypertension. The effect also was observed using t test and χ2 test. ResultsThe differences between the effect of blood pressure control in patients with hypertension before and after education had statistical significance. The changes of life style before and after education also had statistical significance. ConclusionsAfter the community health education, the patients with primary hypertension will know more about the hypertension, which is beneficial for them to form a healthy life style to improve the effect of blood pressure control.

Objective To discuss the influence of nursing intervention on sleep quality and postoperative comfort of patients with percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI). Methods We divided 96 patients who were to receive PCI into the test group and control group with 48 patients in each group. The control group received routine nursing while the test group were given systemic nursing intervention based on routine nursing intervention. The sleep quality and incidence rate of complications were compared. Results The sleep quality in the test group was better than that of the control group (P < 0.01 ).The ineidience of waist-back pain, dysuria, induced emiction, eatheter emietion, anaesthesia of lower limbs, fidget in the test group also decreased compared with the control group(P < 0.05). Conclusions Systemic nursing intervention could improve the sleep quality and postoperative comfort for PCI patients

Objective: To detect the levels of plasminogen activator inhibitor-I (PAI-1), transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β)and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in the pleural fluid before and after intrapleural injection of Kanglaite combined with Cisplatin, and the mechanisms thereof. Methods: Patients were randomly divided into three groups, the Kanglaite combined with Cisplatin group (combination treatment group), Kangkaite group and Cisplatin group. The levels of PAl-1, TGF-β and TNF-α were determined by ELISA in pleural effusion 24 h and 48 h before and after intrapleural injection of medicine. Results: The levels of PAI-1, TGF-βand TNF-αawere higher 24 h and 48 h after treatment compared with those of pre-treatment in three groups (P<0.05). There were no statistical significances in levels of PAI-1 and TGF-β24 h after injection medicine in three groups. But the level of TNF-α was higher in the combination treatment group than that in Kangkaite and Cisplatin groups(P<0.05). After injection medicine 48 h, the levels of PAl-I, GF-β and TNF-α were higher in the combination treatment group than those in Kangkaite group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of Kanglaite combined with Cisplatin activates PAI-1, TGF-β and TNF-αcytokines and causes inflammatory, suppresses fibrinolytic activity. These cytokines promote fibrin and induce pleural adhesion.

Objective To explore the curative effect and patient's tolerance combined transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) and three dimensional conformal radiotherapy(3DCRT) for primary hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods 38 patients were treated by combined TACE and 3DCRT.The treatment regimen consisted of TACE first,it took TACE of Doxombicin 50 mg/m2,Fluorouracil 600 mg/m2,Cisplatin 60 mg and iodine Oil 10~15 ml.repeated every four weeks.thlee times totally. After resting one or two months, followed by 3DCRT(44~56 Gy/7~11f/3~4w),the planning target volume(PTV)was covered by the 80%~90% isodose curve and the target dose was prescribed to PTV.Resuits All patients completed the planned treatment without interruption.Hematological and radiation-induced toxicities as shown by the WHO staging system were 52.6% of grade 1~2 acute gastrointestinal tract reaction and 47.4% of grade 1~2 bone marrow inhibition but they were tolerable. The complete response(CR)and partial response(PR)rates were 23.7% and 63.2%.respectively,with a CR+PR rate of 86.8%.The median survival was 18.5 months. The 1-,2-and 3-year survival rates were 73.7%,57.9% and 34.2% respectively. Conclusion Combined TACE and 3DCRT iS better to short-term curative effect,it has lesser toxicities and it is a satisfactory therapy for unreseetable primary hepatocellular carcinoma.Long-tem survival and late toxicities need further observation.

Objective To determine the mutation spectrum of the PAH gene in PKU children in Ningxia, six exons of PAH gene were sequenced in each of the 30 phenylketonuria (PKU) children. Methods 30 children diagnosed as PKU by the neonatal sereening and/or GC/MS analysis in Ningxia were enrolled in this study. Meanwhile, 30 normal children were served as controls. The exons 3、5、6、7、11 and 12 of the PAH gene were ampliifed by polymerase chain reaction. The amplicons were analyzed by single strand conformation polymorphism and sequencing. Results Mutations were identiifed for 51 of 60 alleles in this study, representing a mutation detection rate of 85%. A total of 16 different causative mutations were detected, including 8 missense mutations (R 241 C、R 243 Q、R 252 Q、G 257 V、R 359 K、R 408 Q、R 413 P、Q 419 R), 3 splicing mutations (IVS 4-1 G?>?A、Y 204 C、IVS 7+2 T?>?A), 3 nonsense mutations (R 111 X、Q 160 X、Y 356 X), 1 synonymous mutation (V 399 V) and 1 deletion (N 183 del). R 243 Q ( 18 . 3%) had the highest frequency of PAH mutations, and then Y 204 C ( 11 . 7%)、IVS 4-1 G?>?A ( 10 . 0%)、R 111 X ( 6 . 7%) and IVS 7+2 T?>?A ( 6 . 7%). For the ifrst time in China, two novel mutations, deletion mutation N 183 del (C. 547-549 delGAA) in exon 6 and missense mutation R 359 K (C. 1078 G?>?A) in exon 11 , were identiifed in PKU children. Two silent mutations, V 245 V (C. 735 G?>?A) and Q 232 Q (C. 696 A?>?G), were observed in PKU children and the controls, but there were no signiifcant difference between them (P?>?0 . 05 ). Conclusions The most common mutations were missense and R 243 Q had the highest frequency of mutation. The identiifcation of 2 novel mutations expands the spectrum of Chinese PAH mutations.

Chinese Journal of Practical Nursing 2011;27(19):72-73
Objective To investigate the degree of pain for patients with esophageal cancer undergoing surgery, evaluate the influence of pain on life quality, and provide evidence for therapy and nursing. Methods The SF-MPQ and BPI were used to measure the quality and intensity of the pain, and the influence on the life quality. Results Non-manual workers feeled more pain than the manual workers; the degree of the patients' education background positively correlated with PRI emotional score;postoperative pain did not correlated with ages and gender. The more pain, the worse influence on life quality. The pain affected the daily life, emotions, locomotor ability, sleep and enjoyment of life significantly. Conclusions There still existed serious pain in patients with esophageal cancer underwent surgery, and the pain affects the quality of life and postoperative treatment. Nurses should pay close attention to pain management, adopt more accurate evaluation so as to guide the pain control and improve the life quality.
