1.Promoting effects of beta-carotene from Dunaliella Salina on learning and memory in rats and mice
Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 1994;0(02):-
The effects of ?-carotene from Dunaliella salina(?-C) at three doses(12.5,25 and 50 mg?kg~(-1),ip) on learning and memory in rats and mice were studied by using step-down test and Y-maze test.In step-down tests,?-C at all three tested doses had significant effects on normal mice, and could remarkably antagonize the memory impairment induced by scopolamine and 20 % alcohol, but could not antagonize the impairment induced by sodium nitrite. As the same result,?-C at three tested doses administration had significant effects on rats in Y-maze tests. These results suggested that ?-C as an antioxidant could improve the ability of learning and memory in rats and mice.

Journal of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2001;0(03):-
[ Objective ] To establish a method for the determination of serum strychnine concentration in rheumatoid arthritis patients treated with Tongbiling prescription and to monitor the serum strychnine concentration. [ Methods ] Serum strychnine was extracted with solid phase extraction column. Reversed-phase HPLC conditions were: Hypersil Division ODS C18 column (150 mm ?4.6 mm, 5?m), mobile phrase being methanol: water (70 : 30) with 0.6 g potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 1.0 g dodecyl sodium sulfonate added in 1000 mL mixture (adjust pH to 4.5 with acetic acid), detecting wavelength at 254nm and a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min at room temperature. [Results] Strychnine has a good linearity in the range of 0.031- 2.000?g?mL-1. The minimum detecting concentration was 0.01?g?mL-1 and the average recovery was over 90%. Intra-day RSD and inter-day RSD ranged from 1.53% to 5.32%. [Conclusion] This method is simple and efficient, and can be used for the determination of strychnine.

Chinese Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging 2015;35(1):32-35
Objective To investigate the value of SPECT imaging in the evaluation of rCBF improvement after bypass surgery in patients with moyamoya disease (MMD).Methods Retrospective analysis was conducted in 13 patients with MMD (5 children aged 3-8 years and 8 adults aged 45-55 years). The SPECT cerebral perfusion imaging data before and after operation were analyzed.Age matched subjects who underwent cerebral perfusion imaging for accidental headache (10 children,10 adults) were taken as control group.Two-sample t test or paired t test was used to compare rCBF of different groups. The brain DSA and MRI results during follow-up were taken as the reference of perfusion improvement. Results Based on visual judgment of SPECT,11/13 in MMD group showed significant improvement in the blood perfusion reduction area after surgery. The coincidence rates of SPECT-DSA and SPECT-MRI was 8/11 and 9/11,respectively.The rCBF of the control group and MMD group before surgery was (51.19±1.63) ml · 100 g-1 · min-1 and (38.83±2.22) ml · 100 g-1 · min-1 respectively (t=-18.465,P<0.05).The rCBF of MMD group before and after surgery was significantly different ((38.83±2.22) ml · 100 g-1 · min-1 vs (45.03±2.63) ml · 100 g-1 · min-1,t=-11.707,P<0.05).The rCBF of MMD group after surgery and the control group was significantly different (t =-8.313,P<0.05).There was no significant difference of rCBF between the children and adults in the control group ((51.81±1.82) ml · 100 g-1 · min-1 vs (50.55±1.18) ml · 100 g-1 · min-1 ;t=0.081,P>0.05).Conclusions Brain perfusion SPECT may effectively reflect the regional distribution and changes of blood flow in the ischemic tissue before and after MMD surgery. Thus it may be helpful in evaluation of the effect of surgical treatment.

Objective To provide a basis for further exploration of Dunaliella Salina by determining the main active components in the extract of Dunaliella salina. Methods The carotenoids and vitamins were determined by HPLC or colorimetric method, amino acids were analyzed by amino acid analyze. Unsaturated fatty acid was determined by GC. Atomic absorption spectrophotometry was used to detect K, Na ,Ca, Mg, Cu, Zn, P, Fe, Mn and SPF was used to detect Se. Results There were affluent carotenoids, vitamins, amino acids, unsaturated fatty acid and trace elements in the extract of Dunaliella salina. Conclusion The extract of Dunaliella salina could be used as natural raw material to develop the supplement food.

[Objective] To establish a method for the determination of brucine and strychnine contents in Tongbiling Tablet. [Methods] Reversed-phase HPLC conditions were: Nucleodur C18 Gravity column (125 mm ? 4.6 mm, 5?m), mobile phrase being methanol-water (60:40) with 0.5 g potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 1.0 g dodecyl sodium sulfouate and 0.5 mL triethylamine in 1 000 mL mixture (adjusting pH to 4.5 with acetic acid) , detecting wavelength at 254 run and a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min at room temperature. [ Results ] The average recovery of brucine was 97.69 % ( RSD = 2.03%) and that of strychnine 97.93% ( RSD = 2.61%). [Conclusion] This method is efficient and can be used for the quality control of Tongbiling Tablet.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2010;26(1):41-42
The clinical features, laboratory data, and therapeutic efficacy of two patients with thyroid hormone resistance syndrome(THRS)were reported. Two cases manifested growth retardation, raised serum TT_3,FT_3levels,and decreased~(131)I uptake. One patient presented with bird face deformity, nerve deafness, and raised TSH level. The superphysiological dosage of exogenous thyroxin inhibited the synthesis and release of thyrotropin.Thyroxin treatment proved to be effective for the patients.THRS is a disease related to thyroid hormone receptor gene mutation. The final diagnosis of this disease depends on gene analysis.

Objective To explore and evaluate the effect of 32P and pinyangmycin injected in combination for the treatment of maxillofacial hemangioma. Methods The patients were randomly divided into three groups. The first group of patients was treated with 32P; 100 patients were enrolled in this group, of which 37 were male and 63 female. 32P dosage between 0.37 and 0. 74 MBq per cm3 was prepared together with 0.5 ml of 2 %lidocaine, and appropriate normal saline, and then the mixture was injected into hemangioma every two weeks. The second group was given pinyangmycin, and the third group received both 32P and pinyangmycin. The second group included 30 male and 60 female, and the third group 64 male and 136 female. The dose and frequency were given as the same to the first group. Results 88.5 % of patients were cured using both 32P and pinyangmycin, and the cure rate was 77.0 % and 71.7 % with either 32P or pinyangmycin. Conclusion These results prove that 32P and pinyangmycin injected in combination for the treatment of maxillofacial hemangioma is more effective than either 32P or pinyangmycin alone, and furthermore, the method is easy, safe and has less complications.
