Objective To investigate the concentration of homocysteine (Hcy) and related factors of hyperhomocyste-inemia (hHcy,Hcy≥15μmol/L) among non-hypertensive people aged between 40-70 in Tianjin. Methods Non-hyperten-sive community residents aged 40-70 years were enrolled randomly from May 2011 to December 2012 in six districts in Tian-jin. Plasma Hcy was assessed by enzyme cycling method. Factors related to hHcy were analyzed in multivariate logistic re-gression models. Results Our study included 874 participants (mean age is 57 ± 6 years, 25.5%of all are males) and the con-centration of Hcy was 12.0 μmol/L. The OR (odds ratio)(95%CI; P)for hHcy were 1.048(1.015,1.083; P=0.004), 4.191 (2.359,7.448;P<0.001), 1.280(0.896,1.829;P=0.175), 0.460(0.259,0.816;P=0.008)respectively for age, male, smoking, exercise, and the odd ratio for hHcy were 0.290(0.179, 0.469;P<0.001), 0.168(0.092,0.309;P<0.001)for consumption of vegetable and fruits 250-500 g/d and>500g/d, compared with<250 g/d. Conclusion Male and age were adverse factors for hHcy, consumption of vegetable and fruits, and exercise were positive factors.

Objective Lipid metabolism disorder can lead to male sterility, but its mechanism of affecting spermatogenesis and testis microenvironment remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the effects of high fat diet on reproductive function and the expression of Ox-LDL within testis in male mice. Methods 16 C57BL/6 mice aged 8 weeks were divided into two groups by random number table method.High fat diet group was fed with high fat diet while normal fat diet group was fed with normal fat diet .At the end of 16 weeks, the levels of TG, TC, Ox-LDL and testosterone in serum were measured. The sperm concentration and motility from caudal epi-didymis were analyzed. The testis structure was observed by HE stai-ning.The localization and expression of Ox-LDL in testis were detec-ted by immunohistochemical technique. Results Compared with the normal diet group mice, the body weight (P<0.05) and the ser-um levels of TC [(2.31 ±0.33)mmol/L vs (6.54 ±0.31)mmol/L, P<0.01], Ox-LDL [(0.32 ±0.03)mg/L vs ( 0.44 ±0.06)mg/L, P<0.01] increased in high fat diet group mice significantly. The serum level of TG was of no significant difference(P>0.05).The serum level of testosterone[(3.64 ±0.43)mg/L vs (0.40 ±0.14) mg/L, P<0.01], the sperm concentration[(9.95 ±0.75)106/mL vs (5.66 ±1.51)106/mL, P<0.01] and the sperm motility[(54.69 ±17.84)%vs (32.48 ±5.80)%, P<0.01] decreased in high fat diet group significantly.HE staining also showed that the amount of Leydig cells, spermatids and spermatozoons reduced obvi-ously in high fat diet group.Immunohistochemistry staining showed that Ox-LDL was mainly distributed around Leydig cells of mice tes-tis.The expression of Ox-LDL in high fat diet group increased significantly ( P<0.01) . Conclusion The expression of Ox-LDL in Leydig cells of high fat diet C57BL/6J mice increases significantly, which may inhibit testosterone biosynthesis and affect spermatogen-ic function.

Eyes are an important part of facial morphology. The study of eye morphology is of great value in exploring human growth and establishing eye database. Its shape and size are influenced by factors such as gender, age, and ethnic group. The related literature on eye morphology mainly includes the following aspects: gender, age, and ethnic differences of eye morphological variation; factors affecting eye shape variation; eyelid shape; eye symmetry research; eye morphology and epicanthus; measurement of eye shape related parameters; related application of eye morphology, etc. By sorting out and summarizing the research data and conclusion of related literature, this article briefly outlines the research on eye morphology and the measurement method of eye parameters, furthermore, it gives a brief review and outlook on the research of eye morphology in China.

ObjectiveTo provide scientific support for the compilation of high-quality anti-nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) medical textbooks in China by retrieving books in the field of biological weapons defense in China, summarizing the publication time and distribution of publishing institutions, and categorizing content and key points of related books. MethodsRelevant subject terms in the field of biological weapons defense were searched through the official website of China National Digital Library and other websites, up until December 31, 2023, and were limited to books. Topic analysis was conducted on the introductions and contents of the books using the latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) model. The number of topics was determined based on perplexity, and topics were identified according to the intertopic distance map, followed by a qualitative description of the core content of each topic. ResultsA total of 104 books were included in this study, among which four were identified as higher educational textbooks. The volume of publications increased during the periods 2002‒2004 and 2020‒2023. Research institutions accounted for the highest percentage of publishers (37.78%), and 56.67% of the publishers were military institutions. The study identified six topics: "distribution, defense, and response to biological weapons", "category, diagnosis, and treatment of biological warfare agents", "response to biological public health emergencies", "status of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons internationally", "biosafety risk management and prevention and control", and "technologies and equipment related to biological hazard identification". ConclusionThere are few books in the field of biological weapons defense in China and the content is relatively outdated. In the future, the preparation of teaching materials should be aimed at practical emergency handling techniques for biological weapons, enhance the emphasis on biological weapons detection and biological warfare early warning, improve the fundamental theories at different training levels, and timely update the current research status in the field.
