ObjectiveThis study was to evaluate the changes of inflamatory mediators in patients undergoing tension free hernioplasty(LH) using expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (e PTFE) mycromesh biomaterial or conventional Bassini hernia repair(BH). MethodTwenty one patients randomized into two groups receiving LH or BH. Peripheral venous blood samples were collected 24 hours prior to surgery and then 6,24,48 and 168 hours postoperatively.ResultLH patients showed a higher increased serum level of fibringen,C reactive protein, alpha 1 antitrypsin, and interleukin 6 than BH patients. Postoperative visual analogue scales for pain reduced on mobilization for patients undergoing LH compared with BH. Neutrophils significantly increased only in LH compared with baseline. ConclusionOur data show that although LH induces less pain and rapid postoperative recovery,it is associated with an higher inflammatory response compared with BH, likely due to mycromesh biomaterial.

Objective To investigate the effect of the replication-deficient adenovirus carrying miR-138(Ad-miR138) on the pro-liferation of human gastric cancer cell line BGC-823 and the possible mechanism .Methods The human gastric cancer cell line BGC-823 was infected with Ad-miR138 .Then the expression level of miR-138 was measured by RT-PCR .The growth curve of BGC-823 was measured using CCK-8 method .The ability of cell invasion was measured using Transwell chambers .Results After infected with Ad-miR138 ,the expression of miR-138 in BGC-823 cells was up -regulated significantly (1 .07 ± 0 .07 vs .4 .89 ± 0 .45 ,P<0 .05) .Absorbance of the 6th day decreased significantly (0 .52 ± 0 .06 vs .0 .77 ± 0 .06 ,P<0 .05) ,and the invasion ability was de-creased obviously (32 .00 ± 11 .00 vs .56 .00 ± 12 .00 ,P<0 .05) .Conclusion miR-138 can effectively suppress the proliferation and invasion of human gastric cancer cell line BGC-823 in vitro .

Objective To investigate the prevalence rate and the related risk factors of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in rescue troops one year after Wenchuan earthquake as science proofs of mental interven-tion. Methods 1176 officers/soldiers from rescue troops were tested with the questionnaire composed by General state of health questionnaire, PTSD Checklist-Civilian Version (PCL-C), Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90), simple coping style questionnaire (SCSQ) and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ). Students't test and correlation analysis were used to study the risk factors. Results One year after Wenehuan earthquake, the prevalence rate of PTSD was 3.45%. Compared with the norms of Chinese serviceman, some evaluative indexes' scores, including somatization(1.43±0.57),exterior(12.50±3.79)/interior and positive response factors(2.05±0.71), were higher(P<0.05), at the same time some evaluative indexes' scores, such as anxiety, depression, nervousness and negative response factor, were obviously lower(P<0.01). Correlation analysis showed total score of PLC-C was positively correlated with somatization, anxiety, depression and negative response factors, separately (P<0.01),but negatively correlated with exterior/interior and positive response factors, separately (P<0.01).Conclusion The psychological status of the earthquake-rescuers is basically normal one year after Wenchuan earthquake. The younger soldiers with less education, who have nervous, introversive character, are the emphasis crowd.

In this study, a rapid and sensitive analytical method was developed for the determination of 10 major compounds (procyanidin B1, catechin, procyanidin B2, rutin, isoquercitrin, kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside, astragalin, quercitrin, quercetin, and kaempferol) in Tetrastigma hemsleyanum by using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple-quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) in multiple-reaction monitoring (MRM) mode. UPLC-MS/MS assay with negative ion mode was performed on a Waters CORTECS C18 (2.1 mm x 100 mm, 1.6 μm) with the mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile (A) and 0.1% aqueous formic acid (B) in gradient elution at a flow rate of 0.25 mL · min(-1) and the column temperature was set at 45 °C. Under the optimized chromatographic conditions, good separation for 10 target compounds were obtained including chiral isomer procyanidins B1 and B2 were completely separated within 8.5 min. Satisfactory linearity was achieved with wide linear range and fine determination coefficient (r > 0.996 6), the overall recoveries were ranged from 95.44%-110.40% with the RSD ranging from 2.37%-8.69%. It is the first report about simultaneous analysis of 10 major flavonoids components in Tetrastigma hemsleyanum by using UPLC-MS/MS method, which affords highly sensitive, specific, speedy and efficient method for quality control of Tetrastigma hemsleyanum

OBJECTIVE To study the pharmacokinetic changes in the plasma and cerebrospinal fluid of bronchial asthma model rats after the complication of Ephedra sinica and Prunus armeniaca. METHODS SD male rats were randomly divided into blank group, model group, E. sinica group (12 g/kg, calculated by raw drug, similarly hereinafter), P. armeniaca group (6 g/kg) and E. sinica-P. armeniaca drug-pair group (12 g/kg of E. sinica+6 g/kg of P. armeniaca), with 6 rats in each group. Except for the blank group, the bronchial asthma model was induced by spraying rats in each group with an equal volume mixture of 2% acetylcholine chloride and 0.4% histamine phosphate, once a day, for 7 d. One hour before modeling every time, rats in each group were gavaged with the corresponding drug/normal saline, once a day, for 7 d. After the final administration and provocation of asthma, blood and cerebrospinal fluid collection were performed at different time points. The plasma and cerebrospinal fluid samples were pre-treated (with geranylgeranyl as the internal standard), and the mass concentrations of ephedrine/pseudoephedrine, methyl ephedrine and amygdalin in both samples were determined by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. DAS 2.0 pharmacokinetic software was used to determine the main pharmacokinetic parameters through the non-atrial chamber model and to compare the changes of the pharmacokinetic parameters before and after the combination of the two drugs. RESULTS Compared with E. sinica group, cmax and AUC0-21.33 h (or AUC0-10.67 h) of ephedrine/pseudoephedrine and methyl ephedrine in the plasma and cerebrospinal fluid of rats were significantly reduced in E. sinica-P. armeniaca drug-pair group, while CLZ/F and VZ/F were significantly increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01); tmax of methyl ephedrine in the cerebrospinal fluid was significantly shortened (P< 0.05).Compared with P. armeniaca group, the t1/2 of amygdalin in the plasma of rats in E. sinica-P. armeniaca drug-pair group was significantly shortened, and CLZ/F was significantly increased (P<0.01); the tmax of bitter amygdalin in the cerebrospinal fluid was significantly shortened, and the AUC0-10.67 h, CLZ/F, and VZ/F were significantly increased (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS The combination of E. sinica and P. armeniaca accelerates the absorption and elimination of ephedra alkaloids, thus reducing the accumulation of ephedra alkaloids in the bronchial asthma model rats.
