Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2020;41(9):947-952
This paper summarizes the infection control practice in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) wards of Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital. By closely focusing on the three key elements of infectious diseases and strictly following the general prevention principles, we implement systematic management, including ward design, personnel management, disinfection measures, protection management, diagnosis and treatment path, clinical specimens, redisinfection of medical equipment and clearance of garbage. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) nucleic acid was detected in samples from critical patients and their surrounding environments, so as to indentify the possible contamination path to guide the prevention and control. During the mission, the systematic and meticulous infection control management in the wards effectively controlled cross infections, ensured the effective and safe treatment of COVID-19 patients, with no medical staff infections occurred, providing references for infection control of wards in similar epidemics in the future.

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of peritoneal and retroperitoneal edema in patients with decompensated cirrhosis(DCC). Methods Forty-four patients were identified with DCC on the basis of clinic and laboratory examinations, except the cases with mesenteric, omental and retroperitoneal edema caused by inflammatory and malignant diseases. The diagnosis of edema depended upon hyperdensity in peritoneal and retroperitoneal. The degree of edema was divided into minor, middle, and sever types based on the extent of edema. Ascites, varices, serum albumin(ALB) levels, and hyaluronicacid(HA) levels were also documented. Correlations between the laboratory and CT findings were analyzed. Results The severity of peritoneal edema was correlated with decreasing serum ALB( r s =0.708 8, P 0.05). Conclusion CT findings of the edema in peritoneal and retroperitoneal may indicate the severity of the liver cirrhosis.

OBJECTIVETo compare the effectiveness and safety of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and transurethral enucleative resection of the prostate (TUERP) in the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).
METHODSA total of 630 BPH patients with indication of surgery were randomly assigned to receive TURP (n = 305) and TUERP (n = 325), respectively. There were no significant differences preoperatively in age, prostate volume, International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), and Qmax between the two groups (P > 0.05). The prostate resection rate, operation time, postoperative complications, and quality of life (QOL) of the patients were recorded and statistically analyzed.
RESULTSCompared with TURP, TUERP showed a significantly higher rate of prostate resection ([47.0 +/- 13.3] vs [60.1 +/- 12.3]%, P < 0.05), shorter operation time ([57.9 +/- 15.9] vs [40.4 +/- 14.2] min, P < 0.05), and shorter bladder irrigation time ([2.7 +/- 0.6] vs [2.2 + 1.1] d, P < 0.05). Significant differences were found between the pre- and post-operative levels of serum sodium and hemoglobin in the TURP group ([141.2 +/- 3.5 ] vs [136.9 +/- 4.7] mmol/L, P < 0.01; [137.6 +/- 8.8] vs [124.8 +/- 9.6] g/L, P < 0.01), but not in the TUERP group. Three months after operation, IPSS, QOL, and Qmax were all markedly improved in both groups (P < 0.01), but with no significant differences between the two groups (P >0.05).
CONCLUSIONTUERP is better than TURP in the treatment of BPH for its advantages of higher resection rate of the prostate, shorter operation time and bladder irrigation time, less intraoperative blood loss, fewer postoperative complications, and faster recovery.

7.Gene Cloning of the Crucial Degumming Enzyme and Its Integration and Expression in Aspergillus niger
Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
The xylanase gene of Bacillus subtilis B10 which had an excellent capacity for degumming ramie fibres was cloned by PCR amplification. The xylanase gene was cloned into vector pBluescript II KS+ and the CaMV 35S promoter was inserted in front of the gene, and the expression vector pKS-35SXYHyg was constructed successfully after the Hyg~(r) gene was inserted into the multi-cloning sites of pBluescript II KS+. The expression vector was linearized and transformed protoplasts of Aspergillus niger strain An1. Hygromycin-resistant transformants were generated and the integration of xylanase gene was confirmed by genomic Southern blotting analysis. Compared with An1, the xylanase activity of the transformant AT1 was increased more than trebled, and the residual gum content was decreased by 55.18% after the ramie was treated by culture supernatants from AT1.
8.Purification of Kallikrein Using Reverse Micellar Extraction
China Biotechnology 2006;0(03):-
The purification of kallikrein using CTAB/hexanol/octane reverse micelles extraction has been studied and optimized, under various aqueous pH values, ionic strength and species, CTAB concentration and co-surfactant concentration. The result shows that the extraction efficiency approaches 100%, and the activity recovery is more than 80%, the commercial enzyme specific activity is increased by 1.97 times and the crude enzyme activity is increased by 7.15 times, which from 31U/mg to 219U/mg,under the conditions of[CTAB]=0.02 mol/L, hexanol/octane (V/V)=1∶5, pH=9.0 and[KBr]=0.1 mol/L in forward extraction, pH=7.0 ,[KBr]=1.5 mol/L and 15% ethanol(V/V) in backward extraction. The result of purified kallikrein is examined by the SDS-PAGE analysis. Reverse micelles extraction is a potential technique for the application in the downstream biotechnological processes.

Background Proliferative vitreo-retinal diseases include all the overly proliferative diseases of eyes. Many kinds of cytokines play important roles in their pathogenesis.Hypoxia-inducible factor 1α(HIF-1α)participates in the pathogenesis of a lot of ischemic diseases.HIF-1α may play an important role in the pathogenesis of proliferative vitreo-retinal diseases. Objective Present study was to observe the expression of HIF-1α in vitreous body in the eyes with proliferative vitreo-retinal diseases. The vitreous samples were collected during the vitrectomy from 71 eyes of 69 patients(experimental group)including 39 eyes with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)and 32 eyes with proliferative Vitreoretinopathy(PVR).Sixteen eyes of 16 patients as the cases control group, including 14 eyes with macular hole(MH)and 2 eyes with epiretinal macular membrane(ERM).What is more, there were 8 vitreous fluid samples of the normal control group. The concentrations of HIF-1α in vitreous body were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The written informed consent was obtained from each patient before any medical procedure. Results The concentrations of HIF-1α in vitreous body in the eyes of experimental group, the cases control group and the normal control group were(294.08±2.97)、(260.41±8.29)、(16.38±3.56)mg/L respectively, showing a significant difference among the three groups(F=248.77,P=0.00).The concentrations of HIF-1α in vitreous body were obviously increased in the eyes of experimental group in comparison with the normal control group and the cases control group respectively(t=22.25,P=0.00;t=2.70,P=0.00 respectively). The concentrations of HIF-1α in vitreous body were increased in the eyes of the cases control group in comparison with the normal control group eyes(t=14.21,P=0.00).There was inferior correlation between the concentrations of HIF-1α in vitreous body in the eyes of experimental group and the course of ophthalmopathy. Conclusion Intravitreous HIF-1α level regulates in the eyes with proliferative vitreo-retinal diseases. Expression of HIF-1α in vitreous had inferior correlation with the course of ophthalmopathy. HIF-1α may play an important role in the pathogenesis of proliferative vitreo-retinal diseases.
