Recently, Ohsawa et al. provide evidence that inhaled hydrogen gas has antioxidant and antiapoptotic activities that protect the brain and liver against ischemia-reperfusion injury. In fact,there is some endogenous hydrogen produced by intestinal bacteria within animal and human. The concentration of hydrogen in some mice tissues reached the antioxidant effect in their paper demonstrates, so we think that hydrogen should be an endogenous antioxidant in the body.

Oxygen is a mandatory for all aerobic organisms. Oxygen-containing free radicals are produced when oxygen is not completely reduced to water in energy-producing oxidation reaction. The radicals may also transform into other reactive compounds through electron transfer and all the compounds with similar functions are referred as reactive oxygen species (ROS). Increased ROS is known to cause damage to proteins, DNA and lipids. Much evidence showed that changes in partial oxygen pressure, hormone, cytokine and chemical stimulation could increase ROS, and ROS, acting as signaling molecules, mediates cell functions. Hypoxia-inducing factor (HIF), a key transcriptional factor for most hypoxia-inducible genes, is a heterodimer consisting of 2 subunits. Recent study found that ROS plays an important role in HIF activity regulation under hypoxic and non-hypoxic conditions. This paper reviews the production of ROS and its role in the regulation of HIF activity.

Objective To determine the optimum cuff pressure of the flexible laryngeal mask airway (LMA) for airway management in pediatric patients.Methods One hundred and twenty pediatric patients undergoing strabismus surgery with general anesthesia,of American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status Ⅰ or Ⅰ,aged 3-10 yr,were randomly divided into 3 groups (n=40 each) according to the cuff pressure of the flexible LMA:20 cmH2O pressure group (group A),40 cmH2O pressure group (group B) and 60 cmH2O pressure group (group C).The cuff was inflated to the predetermined pressure using the inflatable cuff manometer in each group.Oropharyngeal leak pressure was measured after LMA placement.Peak airway pressure and the difference between inhaled and exhaled tidal volume were recorded at 5 min of positive pressure ventilation.The LMA insertion condition,LMA removal time,and development of sore throat,hoarseness,dysphagia and abdominal distention within 24 h after operation were recorded.Results There were no significant differences in the success rate of LMA placement at first attempt,peak airway pressure,or incidence of sore throat among the three groups (P＞0.05),and no hoarseness or dysphagia was found in the three groups.Compared with group A,oropharyngeal leak pressure was significantly increased,and the difference between inhaled and exhaled tidal volume and incidence of abdominal distention were decreased in B and C groups (P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in the parameters mentioned above between group B and group C (P＞0.05).Conclusion The optimum cuff pressure of the flexible LMA is 40 cmH2O when used for airway management in the pediatric patients.

Objective:To study Clinical Effect of Anterolateral Approach ofor the Patients with Hip Arthroplasty and the effect on the serum CRP,IL-6,D-Dimer in levels.Methods:102 Patients with Hip Arthroplasty who received therapy from February 2013 to January 2015 in our hospital,Patients were asked to be divided into observation group and control group.Among them,the control group of 54 cases,through the conventional approach to hip arthroplasty;48 cases of observation group.Serum CRP,IL-6 and D-dimer levels were compared between the two groups before and after surgery,and the efficacy of the two groups was compared by follow-up.Results:After treatment,the total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P＜0.05),Serum CRP,IL-6 and D-dimers increased in both groups at 12 h after surgery and decreased gradually at 7 and 14 days.The levels of serum CRP,IL-6 and D-dimer in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group at 12 h,7 d and 14d(P＜0.05).Conclusion:The clinical effect of the anterolateral approach on hip arthroplasty is more significant than that of conventional approach,and can effectively reduce the levels of serum CRP,IL-6 and D-dimer,and is more favorable for postoperative recovery.

Objective The objective of this study was to investigate the expression of P28 and P43 in papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC)and its relationship with clinicopathological features after TRa1 gene transcription.Methods Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR(RT-PCR)and gel electrophoresis were used to determine the target fragments and to isolate the bands of different fragments.The optical density of each band was scanned by UV transmittance analyzer to detect 31 cases of PTC tissue and expression levels of P28 and P43 in para-cancerous tissues.Results The average gray value of P28 in thyroid carcinoma group was 0.77±0.34,which was significantly higher than that in para-cancer group(0.31±0.18).The average gray value of P43(0.85+0.21)in thyroid carcinoma group was significantly higher than that in para-cancer group(0.34±0.15)(P<0.05).The expression levels of P28 were not correlated with gender,age,tumor size,lymph node metastasis and clinical pathologic stage(P>0.05),The expression levels of P43 were not correlated with gender,age,tumor size and lymph node metastasis.(P>0.05)but they were related to clinical pathologic stage(P<0.05).There was no correlation between expression levels of P28 and P43(r=0.266,P=0.071).Conclusion The increased expression of P28 and P43 may have a high degree of malignancy and a certain clinical value in predicting the adverse prognosis of PTC.Both factors are helpful for the prevention and treatment of PTC.

Patients with multiple myeloma (MM) have increased constantly in recent years, but treatment for patients with MM is currently unsatisfactory and it is necessary to develop new complementary therapies. Dendritic cells (DCs) are specialized antigen-presenting cells capable of initiating and regulating immune responses. Vaccination with tumor antigen-pulsed DCs has shown to be safe and possesses therapeutic effect against many tumors. In this review, the various types of MM-associated antigens and clinical trials on DC-based immunotherapy in MM are summarized, the development of DC immunotherapy for MM patients in future trials is discussed.

Objective To explore the effect of high voltage alternating electric field therapy on fracture healing in rats. Methods An animal model of cortical bone defect was successfully established in the unilateral proximal tibia of 41 rats.They were then randomized into an experimental group (21 rats) and a control group (20 rats).The animals in the experimentsl group were given high voltage alternating electric field therapy for 30 minutes daily,while those in the control group only had sham exposure to the high voltage alternating electric field therapy.Rats in each group were sacrificed at days 7,14,21 and 28 post-operation.After blood collection,the operated tibias of the rats were resected with muscle and other soft tissue removed.Bone mineral density (BMD) of the callus at the fracture point was measured using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA).The calluses were then cut down and fixed,decalcificated and sliced for histological observation.At the same time serum osteocalcin ( OC ) and bone alkaline phosphatase (RAP) were also detected by ABC-ELISA. Results The BMD examination showed that callus BMD in the experimental group was significantly higher than in the control group at days 14 and 28.Serum OC and RAP in the experimental group were also higher at days 14 day 21,and OC was still significantly higher in the experimental group at day 28.Histological examination showed that in the early stages of bone healing hematoma absorption and organization appeared earlier in the experimental group than in the control group,with remarkable osteoblast and chondroblast proliferation.While at the later stage,bone trabeculas connection and mineralization also appeared earlier in the experimental group than in the control group. Conclusions High voltage alternating electric field therapy may promote fracture healing by accelerating hematoma absorption and organization,elevating osteoblast proliferation and differentiation as well as promoting extracellular matrix secretion and mineralization.The underlying therapeutic mechanism might be related to the increased expression of OC and RAP caused by exposure to the high voltage alternating electric field.
