Cancer has become the leading cause of mortality in the urban area of China. Whole body diffusion weighted imaging (WB-DWI), also known as virtual positron emission tomography, has gradually become accepted as an image tool in tumor localization, characterization, staging and monitoring response to therapy or tumor recurrence. Our article aimed to summarize the limited initial clinical use of WB-DWI in the referred area, and to analyze the most potential advantage of WB-DWI in therapeutic monitoring and tumor staging. WB-DWI as a highly sensitive, completely non-invasive, well-tolerated and low price technique has a promising furture in tumor assessment. Profound clinical study is necessary for its further application improvement.

2. Hypoglycemic Bioactive Components and Mechanism of Puerariae Lobatae Radix by Network Pharmacology
Chinese Pharmaceutical Journal 2018;53(20):1748-1754
OBJECTIVE: To predict the action targets of the hypoglycemic bioactive components of Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix), and investigate the “multi-components, multi-targets and multi-pathways” mechanism. METHODS: Based on the network pharmacology, the reported 27 active ingredients in Gegen were used to predict the action target and reveal the action mechanism via reversed pharmacophore matching method, database mining, and some other methods. The PharmMapper database and DrugBank database were applied to screen the hypoglycemic drug targets approved by FDA. Additionlly, the information of these targets and their intentions were revealed by the String database. At last the ingredients-targets-pathways network was constructed via the Cytoscape software. RESULTS: Studies found that Gegen contained hypoglycemic components, such as:puerarin, 3'-hydroxypuerarin, 3'-methoxypuerarin, daidzein and so on. Their actions involved in 9 potential targets and 25 energy metabolism or signal transmutation relevant biological processes, e.g. insulin receptor, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ). While the mainly metabolism and signal transmutation pathways were HIF-1 signaling pathway, renin-angiotensin system, FoxO signaling pathway, AMPK signaling pathway and so on. CONCLUSION: From the view of molecular network, this study applied provides network pharmacology methods and technologies to clarify the multi-components, multi-targets and multi-pathways of Gegen on the hypoglycemic effect, and it provides a theoretical basis and a clue for further exploration of the hypoglycemic mechanism of Gegen.

BACKGROUND: Incidence rate of cervical osteoarthritis in the middleaged and elderly is high. Some researches on risk factor causing cervical osteoarthritis have been performed abroad, but most of the factors are being discussed.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the occurring cervical osteoarthritis risk factors in the middle-aged and elderly from different regions of China and provide evidences for prevention and intervention of cervical osteoarthritis in community.DESIGN: Cross-sectional study.SETTING: Beijing Hospital, Ministry of Health, together with Second Hospital of Xi'an Jiantong University, Institute of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine of Hebei Medical University, Shanghai Huadong Hospital, Nanfang Hospital, Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, West China Hospital of Sichuan University.PARTICIPANTS: The investigation was conducted from July to August2005. On the basis of stratified multi-stage cluster sampling method, 6 218formal registered permanent residents of over 40 years old from Xi'an,Shijiazhuang, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Harbin and Chengdu were enrolled. They all agreed to join the investigation voluntarily. There were 2 916males of 40-94 years and 3 302 females of 40-86 years.METHODS: Questionnaire investigation of epidemiology of cervical osteoarthritis was performed in the testees, and radiograph was used in the persons with clinical symptom. The basic sample unit was neighborhood committee (city) and village committee (countryside). Sampling method:Taking each city as a whole, composed of two levels, namely city and countryside, in the first phase the persons were extracted from district (county),in the second phase from sub-district (countryside), in the third phase from neighborhood committee (village eommittee). Diagnosis standard of cervical osteoarthritis was positive clinical symptom and 2 grade or above of radiograph Kellgren & Lawrence grading. The content of questionnaire contained 6 aspects: general condition, history of present illness, history of past illness, physical check-up, radiographs and disease diagnosis, totally94 questions and 141 variation indexes. Influential factors of prevalence rate of cervical osteoarthritis were analyzed using multifactor non-conditional Logistic regression analysis. Odds ratio (OR) was used for expressing index of strength of relationship between disease and exposures. If OR > 1,it was indicated that there was positive correlation between disease occurrence and exposures. If OR < 1, it was suggested that there was negative correlation between disease occurrence and exposures.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Prevalence rate of cervical osteoarthritis in each city and OR.RESULTS: Totally 6 218 investigational subjects were included in the result analysis, without drop out. ①Total prevalence rate of cervical osteoarthritis in population of 40 years or above from 6 domestic cities was23.6%. There was significnat difference of prevalence rate in each city (P<0.01). ②Result of Logistic regression analysis: Age (OR=1.010-1.058),defecation with squat ting pot (OR =1.024-1.997) and history of hypertension (OR =1.815-3.078) were common risk factor in most areas. In northern area the common risk factor compos ed of daily stair climbing or grade climbing (OR =1.018-1.020), while drinking colored wine (OR=3.451, Xi'an), history of osteoarthri tis of father (OR =2.491, Xi'an), history of diabetes (OR =5.013, Shijiazhuang), history of osteoarthritis of mother (OR =2.045, Shanghai), smoking (OR =6.857, Guangzhou), age of starting drinking (OR =3.044, Guangzhou) and full-time athletic sports (OR=9.020, Harbin), etc. emerged in different areas.CONCLUSION: The onset of cervical osteoarthritis has the same risk factor in 6 domestic areas, and main risk factor in different areas has certain differences, which can provide reference data for the prevention and cure of cervical osteoarthritis for the future and reduce waster of medical resources.

Objective: To investigate the mode of cell death caused by NDV strain Changchun and NDV strain Siping. Methods: Plaque formation, cell suppression test, gel electrophoresis, and TUNEL assay were used after the cells were infected by NDV. Results: The apparently pathological changes were observed in chicken embryo fibroblasts, BHK, Hela, Hep 2, HCT and OS 732 tumor cells, but not in Wish cells. The higher suppressed effect on tumor cells was found in the NDV strain Changchun than that in the NDV strain Siping. There was no dose effect relationship between NDV and tumor cell suppression, only optimum dose NDV could cause maximal tumor cells inhibitory effect. Conclusion: The mode of cell death might be different after infection of NDV. The NDV strain Changchun killed tumor cells mainly through apoptosis, while the NDV strain Siping killed tumor cells mainly through necrosis. \[

Background:Bioinformatics is an effective technology for microarray data mining and gene function prediction. Aims:To analyze the gene CRELD2 that associated with pathogenesis, disease activity and efficacy of biological agents in ulcerative colitis( UC)by bioinformatics to provide a theoretical basis for subsequent studies on its biological function and molecular mechanism in the development and progress of UC. Methods:The microarray data associated with pathogenesis, disease activity and efficacy of biological agents in UC were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus( GEO database);the data mining and analyses were conducted by using bioinformatics tools such as BRB-ArrayTools, ProtParam,ELM,SignalP 4. 1,PBIL-IBCP Lyon Gerland,GO and STRING. Results:Cross-over analyses revealed that expressions of four genes(CDC25B,CRELD2,IL1RN,PITPNC1)were up-regulated in the order from colonic mucosa of healthy subjects,un-inflamed mucosa of active UC patients to inflamed mucosa of active UC patients, meanwhile these four genes were significantly down-regulated in infliximab responders after treatment when compared with that before treatment and infliximab non-responders. The function of CRELD2 gene was unknown. Bioinformatics analyses showed that CRELD2 gene was located on the long arm of chromosome 22(22q13. 33),and encoded a secreted protein composed of 402 amino acids. This protein contained several epidermal growth factor( EGF)-like domains, mainly distributed in Golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum and extracellular site and had calcium- and protein-binding effect. Interactions existed between CRELD2 and CHRNA4,CHRNB2 and RHBDD3 proteins. Conclusions:Gene CRELD2 may have EGF-like biological function and via participating directly or indirectly the regulation of immunocytes to affect the pathogenesis and disease activity of UC. It might be used as a biomarker for diagnosis and assessment of disease activity and therapeutic efficacy of UC. Furthermore,it might be a potential target for treatment of UC.
