Objective To explore the relationship between pulse pressure (PP) and artery atherosclerosis in elders. Methods Totally 2358 eiders( > 60y) with the risk factors of artery atherosclerosis from Yangpu District DOI:10.3760/cma.j.issn.1008-6315.2009.09.006Central Hospital and 11 Community Health Service Centers were enrolled . The basic information includes age, sex, height, body mass, history of smoking, blood pressure, heart rate, history of coronary heart disease, ischemic stoke, chronic kidney diseases and diabetes, etc. The fasting blood sugar(FBS) ,blood lipid( total cholesterel, triglyceride, low-density lipreprotein, high-deusity liproprotein), serum creatinine, serum uric acid, serum alanine aminotransferase were measured. The elders were divided into two groups according to the PP( PP <60 mm Hg and PP≥60 mm Hg) to analyse the relationship between PP and age, BMI, SBP, DBP, HR, FBS, TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, Cr, Ccr, UA, AST and history of coronary heart disease, ischemic stoke, chronic renal disease, and diabetes. Results Serum levels of FBS,TC,TG, LDL-C, UA in the group with PP less than 60 nun Hg were ( 5.6±1.7 ) mmol/L, (4.3±1.3 ) mmol/L, ( 1.5±1.2) mmol/L, ( 2.5±1.1 ) mmol/L, UA ( 246.8±131.2 ) μmol/L, that in the group with PP over or equal to 60 mm Hg group were (6.3±2.6) mmol/L, (4.8±1.2) mmol/L, ( 1.9±1.1 ) mmol/L, (2.9±1.2) mmol/L, (291.4±133.6) μmol/L, Serum levels of FBS, TC, TG, LDL-C, UA in the group with PP over 60 mm Hg were obviously elevated as compared with that in the group with PP lower than 60 ram Hg(P <0.01 ) ; The preven-lence rates of coronary heart disease ischemic stoke, chronic, renal disease, diabetes in the group with PP less than 60 mm Hg were 10.8% ,26.0%, 12.4%, 17.6%, that in the group with PP over or equal to 60 mm Hg group were 17.8% 、31.7% ,16.9% ,23.8% (P <0.01 ). The preveulence of coronary heart disease ischemic stoke, chronic re-nal disease, diabetes were significandy increased in the group with PP over or equal to 60 mm Hg group. Logistic re-gression analysis showed PP was closely related to FBS, BMI, age, LDL-C, UA, HDL-C ( β = 0.103,0.093.0.097, 0.089 ,0.076 , - 0.057, P < 0.05 ). Conclusions For those elders with the basis of artery atherosclerosis, high PP can inhance the development of artery atheresclerosis and also inhance the occurance and development of cardio-ce-rebrovascular and renal diseases.

Background Basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)secreted by cornea after injury is important to cytothesis, collagen fibers reconstruction and axons recovery. However, the local bFGF is not enough for the reparation process. Objective This study aimed to observe the findings of corneal collagen and nerve recovery under the confocal microscopy through focusing(CMTF) in the eyes with intervene of exogenous recombinant bFGF(rbFGF) after excimer laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK).Methods LASIK rabbit models were binocularly created in 34 clean New Zealand white rabbits. The tobramycin combined with dexamethasone were dropped after operation for 10 days in bilateral eyes.rbFGF was topically administered in the right eyes of rabbits from 1 day through 3 months after LASIK,and lubricant was used in the left eyes at the same way.The corneal collagen and nerve recovery, keratocyte and endothelial cell counting were observed with CMTF at the 1st week,2nd week,2nd month,3rd month and 5th month after LASIK.Results Total 19 rabbits were meted the request of LASIK models. The keratocyte densities in anterior stroma of both groups reached the lowest level at the 2nd week and the highest level at the 3rd month.Otherwise, haze changed on the contrary. No statistically significant differences were found in anterior stroma keratocyte densities, haze grade, grey value between rbFGF group and lubricant group at various time points after operation(P>0.05).The nerve cord densities of both groups were increased gradually, and those under the epithelial basement membrane were more dominant. The nerve density of the anterior stroma of rbFGF group was significant higher than the lubricant one in the 2nd group(P=0.038).The considerably elevated the subepithelial nerve density value was also seen in rbFGF group compared with lubricant at 5 months after operation(Z=-2.060,P=0.039).No any corneal neovascularization occurred in both groups through experiment duration. The positive correlation was found between grey value with haze grade in rbFGF group(b=22.687,F=37.975,P=0.000) and lubricant group(b=20.410,F=18.516,P=0.000).However,haze grade was not significant correlated with stromal keratocyte density(rbFGF group:b=0.001,F=0.164,P=0.668;lubricant group:b=-0.002,F=1.896,P=0.178).Conclusion Exogenous bFGF can improve the recovery of corneal nerve and regeneration of keratocyte after LASIK.No evidence of bFGF promoting corneal neovascularization is found in this experiment.

Objective To analyze the data of gene expression profiles of choriocarcinoma and screen for choriocarcinomarelated genes. Methods Human cDNA expression microarray containing 4 096 genes was used to study the gene expression profiles in specimens of complete hydatidiform moles (n=3) and choriocarcinomas (n=3), with normal placental villi serving as the control group. The candidate genes with similar expression profiles were identified by hierarchical cluster analysis, and their expressions in normal and neoplastic tissues analyzed by electronic Northern analysis and other bioinformatics methods.Three selected genes were analyzed by β-actin semiquantitative reverse transcriptase-PCR to confirm the data. Results A total of 52 coexpressed candidate genes were identified from the gene expression data derived from the choriocarcinoma specimens, of which 19 genes were selected as choriocarcinoma-related genes by further cluster analysis, such as dynamin (L07807), kataninp60 (AF056022), zinc fingerproteinZNF184 (U6656), calmodulin (U12022), carboxypeptidaseM (BC022276), calcineurin-binding protein cabin 1 (NM_012295) and transducin-like enhancer protein TLE1 (M99435).Conclusion The identification of choriocarcinoma-related genes by cluster analysis provides new clues for seeking the key genes associated with the progression and metastasis of choriocarcinoma.

To investigate the effects of carbamazepine (CBZ) on the plasma concentrations of valproic acid (VPA) and its toxic metabolite 2-propyl-4-pentenoic acid (4-ene VPA) in epileptic patients, the plasma concentrations of VPA and 4-ene VPA were determined, and the effect of CBZ on pharmacokinetics of VPA was evaluated. All patients had been divided into two groups (VPA group, n = 87; and VPA+CBZ group, n = 19). As compared to VPA group, the combination of CBZ significantly (P < 0.01) decreased the trough concentration of VPA [VPA group, (69.5 +/- 28.8) microg x mL(-1); VPA+CBZ group, (46.3 +/- 25.6) microg x mL(-1)] and does-adjusted VPA trough concentration [VPA group, (4.89 +/- 2.21) microg x mL(-1) x mg(-1) x kg(-1); VPA+CBZ group, (3.14 +/- 1.74) microg x mL(-1) x mg(-1) x kg(-1)]. However, the addition of CBZ did not influence the concentration of 4-ene VPA. The present study revealed that coadministration of CBZ can reduce VPA plasma concentration and may impact VPA clinical effect, therefore therapeutic drug mornitoring of VPA should be used when combined use of CBZ and VPA.
