Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1999;0(12):-
Totally 896 medical records were statistically analyzed from Jan. 1, ] 998 to Dec. 31 , 2001. There were 65 cases (7. 3%,65/896) of ischemic cardiomyopathy .of which 38 cases (58. 5% .38/65) were myocardial infarction in small area, 27 cases(41. 5% ,27/65) were in large area. The causes of ischemic cardiomyopathy were lack of blood supply in cardiac cells for a long time and pathological changes in branches of coronary artery. If myocardial infarction in small area occurred, the blood vessels should be opened again in acute period, and the risk factors must be prevented and treated.

OBJECTIVETo observe the therapeutic effect of a drug pair of Radix Astragali and Rehmanniae Radix combined with glucocorticoid (GC) in treating lupus nephritis (LN) patients and its influence on some experimental indices.
METHODSTotally 52 LN patients were randomly assigned to the treatment group (treated by routine Western medicine and a drug pair of Radix Astragali and Rehmanniae Radix, 25 cases) and the control group (treated by Western medicine, mainly by GC and cyclophosphamide, 27 cases). All patients received 6-month therapy. The GC dosage, the withdrawal and reduction dosage of GC, clinical efficacy, systemic lupus erythematosus disease activity index (SLEDAI) score, adverse reactions, and laboratory indicators were recorded.
RESULTS(1) All patients got relieved to some degree with the dosage of GC reduced. The total withdrawal and reduction dosage of GC was slightly higher in the treatment group than in the control group [(50.23 +/- 12.43) mg vs (48.76 +/- 13.61) mg, P > 0.05]. Besides, the prednisone dosage in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group, but without statistical difference (P > 0.05). The ratio of patients in need of adding prednisone for aggravating disease was 24.0%, significantly lower than that in the control group (44.44%, P < 0.05). (2) There was no statistical difference in the SLEDAI score, inflammatory indicators, liver and renal functions, blood electrolytes, blood glucose, blood and urine routines between the two groups (P > 0.05). The 24-h urinary protein count was (1.06 +/- 0.22) g/L in the treatment group, obviously lower than that in the control group (1.43 +/- 0.55 g/L, P < 0.05). (3) There was no statistical difference in the incidence rate of infection, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, psychoneuroses, Cushing's syndrome, cardiovascular anomalies, and femoral head necrosis between the two groups (P > 0.05). But the incidence of adverse reactions such as insomnia, tidal fever, spontaneous sweat, and obesity was less in the treatment group than in the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSUsing a drug pair of Radix Astragali and Rehmanniae Radix combined with GC in treating LN could withdraw the dosage of GC and relieve symptoms it induced. It was advantageous in reducing the dosage of GC and stabilizing patients' conditions.

Objective To clarify the role of claudin-4 in endometrial tumorigenesis and explore claudin-4 be as potentially useful agent in the treatment of endometrial carcinoma. Methods The expression of claudin-4 in 62 endonetrioid endometrial carcinoma (EEC),30 atypical hyperplasia endometrial tissue and 60 human normal endometrium was determined using immunohistochemistry and realtime PCR.Ninety female BALB/c mice were transplanted with Ishikawa endometrial cancer cells, which were divided into three groups with different intraperitoneal treatments with cisplatin, paclitaxel and saline solution. After the observation period, the tumors were extracted and stained with monoclonal antibody against claudin-4.The messenger RNA expression of claudin-4 was also detected using real-time PCR.Results Among the EEC samples,34% (21/62) showed medium staining for claudin-4 and 66% (41/62) showed intense staining. In atypical hyperplasia group,27% (8/30) showed weak staining,53% (16/30) showed medium staining and 20% (6/30) showed intense staining for claudin-4.Of the normal endometrial tissue,47% (28/60) showed weak staining and 53% (32/60) showed no staining for claudin-4.According to real-time PCR,the relative quantity of claudin-4 was 170 ± 12 in EEC group,89 ± 15 in atypical hyperplasia group and 18 ± 3 in normal endometrium.Compared with those in atypical hyperplasia group and normal endometrium group, the protein and mRNA expression of claudin-4 were significantly increased in the group of EEC (all P < 0.05).In the study of Ishikawa xenografts,no significant changes in tumor volume and claudin-4 expression were shown in paclitaxel group compared with that in the control group.Nevertheless,a significant reduction of the tumor growth and a significant decrease in claudin-4 expression were observed in cisplatin group. After cisplatin treatment, the tumor volume was significantly decreased [(0.51 ±0.21) versus (0.73 ±0.12) cm3],and the mRNA expression of claudin-4 was also significantly decreased (153 ± 35 versus 273 ± 27).Conclusion These results demonstrate that claudin-4 is strongly expressed in EEC,which may be a useful biomarker to monitor the effects of chemotherapy in patients with endometrial carcinoma.

The morphological indexes of the Scuophularia ningpoensis seedlings including the longth, diameter and weight were measured, clustering analysis was used to set up the standard quality grading of seedlings of S. Ningpoensis by SPSS. Field experiment was carried out to measure the indicators of plants growth and development, the yield and the quality. The results showed that the growth and yield of class I seedlings were better than those of class II and III. The content of main active ingredients was affected barely by seedlings classification. To ensure the quality, class II seedlings or above should be used for plantation. The established quality classification standard of S. ningpoensis seedlings was scientific and feasible, and provides the basis for the standardized cultivation of S. ningpoensis.
