Objective: To study the antioxidative and hepatoprotective activities of low molecular fucoidan oligosaccharides(LMFO) from Laminaria japonica in mice.Methods: Mice were pretreated with LMFO(50?100?150 mg/kg ig respectively, 10 days),and then 0.2 % CCl 4 10 ml/kg ig and D-GalN(600 mg/kg)+LPS(lipopolysaccharide,1 ?g/kg) ig respectively in two model groups to induce liver injury. Liver injury was assessed by quantifying activities of plasma GPT, SOD, GSH-Px and MDA content.Results: The increase of plasma GPT activity was significantly inhibited by LMFO in two liver injury models, suggesting that LMFO had good protective effect on the hepatocytes. LMFO had good antioxidative effect in mice with liver injury induced by CCl 4 and D-GalN+LPS as indicated by decreased MDA content and increased activities of plasma SOD and GSH-Px. Conclusion: LMFO is protective against CCl 4-induced and D-GalN+ LPS induced liver injury in mice and its effect may be due to its antioxidative activities in vivo.

Neonatal mortality has been significantly decreased because of the development of neo-natal respiratory support techniques. Nevertheless,constant and high frequency ventilators have some limita-tions to solve all problems in neonatal respiratory failure. Special mechanical ventilation,mainly including he-liox and partial liquid ventilation,provides new respiratory support for newborn infants. The clinical signifi-cance of heliox and partial liquid ventilation need further investigation.

Objective:To study the effect of endothelin receptor antagonist BQ-123 on the nerve function damage after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)in the rats,and to explore the mechanisms.Methods:Total 120 male SD rats were divided into sham group,SAH group,low dose of BQ-123 group (50 μg· kg-1 )and high dose of BQ-123 group (75 μg·kg-1 ).The SAH rat models were established by injecting the autologous blood into cisterna magna twice.The morphological changes of hippocampus nerve cells of rat brain tissue were detected with HE staining, and the expressions of mTOR, Beclin-1 and LC3-Ⅱ in the hippocampus of rats were detected with immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR;the shuttle-box experiment was used to evaluate the abilities of learning and memory,and the holding power evaluation was used to evaluate the forelimb pulling force of the rats in various groups at each time point.Results:Compared with sham group,the morphological damages of neurons of the rats in SAH group were increased,the survival rate of neurons of the rats in SAH group was decreased (P <0.05),the expression levels of mTOR mRNA,Beclin-1 mRNA and LC3-Ⅱ mRNA in hippocampus tissue of the rats were increased (P < 0.05),and the abtilities of learning and memory and the values of holding power were decreased (P <0.05).Compared with SAH group,the morphological damages of neurons of the rats in BQ-123 groups were decreased,the survival rates of neurons of the rats in BQ-123 groups were increased (P < 0.05),the expression levels of mTOR mRNA of rats were decreased (P <0.05),the expression levels of Beclin-1 mRNA and LC3-ⅡmRNA in hippocampus tissue were increased (P <0.05),and the abilities of learning and memory and the values of holding power were increased (P < 0.05 ). The changes were more significant in high dose of BQ-123 group compared with low dose of BQ-123 group (P <0.05).Conclusion:BQ-123 can improve the nerve function damage after SAH in the rats,its mechanism may be related to regulating the mTOR/autophagy signaling pathway.

Objectives To investigate the treatment effect of endothelin A receptor antagonist BQ-123 on early brain injury of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH ) in rats and its mechanism. Methods According to the random number table method,120 SD rats were divided into four groups:a sham operation (sham),a SAH,a high-dose BQ-123 (75 μg/ kg),and a low-dose BQ-123 (50 μg/ kg)(n = 30 in each group). A rat model was induced by using the injection of blood into cisterna magna twice. After establishing models at hours 6,24,72,and 144,the rats were further divided into four subgroups. Light and electron microscopes were used to observe the changes of the morphological structure in hippocampal area. Immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR were used to detect the expression levels of phosphoinositide 3 kina (PI3-K),protein kinase B (PKB/ Akt),and mammal target of rapamycin (mTOR). Results (1)In the process of model making,7 rats died and 1 model did not meet the criteria and was excluded from the SAH group. Six rats died in the high-dose BQ-123 group and the low-dose BQ-123 group respectively. One rat in each group did not meet the criteria and was excluded. The rats were included in the final statistical analysis:30 in the sham group,22 in the SAH group,23 in the high-dose BQ-123 group,and 23 in the low-dose BQ-123 group. (2)Compared with the sham group,the expression levels of PI3-K,AKt and mTOR were increased signifi-cantly (all P < 0. 05). Compared with SAH group,the hippocampal neuronal morphology and structure damage were alleviated in the low-dose BQ-123 group. The number of surviving neurons at each time point was increased ([132 ±18],[110 ±16],[84 ±13],[92 ± 10]cells/ HP,all P < 0. 05). The tensile force values of rats were increased at each time point and the learning and memory function were improved. The expression levels of PI3-K and Akt were further increased (all P < 0. 05). The expression level of mTOR was decreased (all P < 0. 05). (3)Compared with the low-dose BQ-123 group,the morphological and structural damage of hippocampal neurons were alleviated. The number of surviving neurons at each time point ([153 ±20],[131 ± 18],[137 ±19]and [135 ± 17]cells/ HP)was increased (all P < 0. 05). The tensile force values of the rats were increased at each time point. The learning and memory function of the animals were improved. The expression levels of PI3-K (3. 8 ± 0. 8,8. 9 ± 2. 4,8. 6 ± 2. 4,and 6. 2 ± 2. 0)and Akt (4. 86 ± 1. 74, 8. 64 ± 1. 62,7. 94 ± 1. 70,and 6. 48 ± 1. 58)were further increased (all P < 0. 05). The expression levels of mTOR (2. 89 ± 0. 26,2. 14 ± 0. 18,1. 94 ± 0. 17,and 1. 62 ± 0. 12)were decreased (all P < 0. 05). Conclusions BQ-123 has as a good therapeutic effect for early brain injury after SAH. Its mechanism may be associated with the regulation of PI3-K/ Akt signaling pathway.

Objective To explore the clinical effect of neoadjuvant chemo-radiation combined with thoracoscopic and laparoscopic three-incision esophagectomy for esophageal cancer.Methods The retrospective cohort study was conducted.The clinicopathological data of 111 esophageal cancer patients who underwent neoadjuvant chemo-radiation combined with thoracoscopic and laparoscopic three-incision esophagectomy in the Cancer Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences between January 2010 and December 2016 were collected.Among 111 patients,68 with interval time between neoadjuvant chemo-radiation and thoracoscopic and laparoscopic three-incision esophagectomy ＜ 8 weeks were allocated into the ＜ 8 weeks group and 43 with interval time between neoadjuvant chemo-radiation and thoracoscopic and laparoscopic three-incision esophagectomy ≥8 weeks were allocated into the ≥8 weeks group.Patients underwent preoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy with TP regimen,and then underwent selective thoracoscopic and laparoscopic three-incision esophagectomy.Observation indicators:(1) neoadjuvant chemo-radiation situations;(2) surgical and postoperative situations;(3) follow-up.Follow-up using outpatient examination and telephone interview was performed to detect postoperative survival of patients and tumor recurrence or metastasis up to March 2017.Measurement data with normal distribution were represented as (x)±s and comparison between groups was analyzed using the t test.Count data were analyzed using the chi-square test or Fisher exact probability.Comparison of ranked data was done by the nonparametric test.Results (1) Neoadjuvant chemo-radiation situations:all the patients underwent neoadjuvant chemo-radiation,without severe adverse reaction.Number of patients with complete remission based on oncopathology were 34 in the ＜8 weeks group and 15 in the ≥ 8 weeks group,with no statistically significant difference between the 2 groups (x2=2.441,P＞0.05).(2) Surgical and postoperative situations:all the patients underwent successful thoracoscopic and laparoscopic three-incision esophagectomy,with negative surgical margins.Operation time,volume of intraoperative blood loss,number of lymph node dissected,time of postoperative intrathoracic drainagetube removal,time of postoperative neck drainage-tube removal,hoarseness,upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage,anastomotic fistula,respiratory complication,pleural effusion and empyema,cardiovascular complication,incision abnormal healing,death within postoperative 30 days and duration of hospital stay were (354±103)minutes,(400± 76)mL,19±4,(11±4)days,(4.9±1.6)days,5,1,12,3,6,5,8,0,(19± 17) days in the ＜ 8 weeks group and (343±92) minutes,(392±51)mL,19±3,(12±6)days,(4.5±1.0)days,2,0,7,5,3,4,3,2,(18± 11) days in the ≥ 8 weeks group,respectively,with no statistically significant difference between the 2 groups (t =1.080,0.569,0.326,1.223,1.286,x2=0.029,0.035,1.114,0.000,0.000,0.246,t=0.315,P＞ 0.05).(3) Follow-up:90 of 111 patients were followed up for 3-82 months,with a median time of 25 months,including 55 in the ＜8 weeks group and 35 in the ≥8 weeks group.During follow-up,death and tumor recurrence were detected in 9,11 patients in the ＜8 weeks group and 6,11 patients in the ≥ 8 weeks group,respectively.Conclusion Neoadjuvant chemo-radiation combined with thoracoscopic and laparoscopic three-incision esophagectomy is safe and effective,and it doesn't increase the perioperative risks based on preoperative 8-week interval time.

Objective To explore the psychomotor development in 12 month old infants born after in vitro fertilization with a control group of infants concieved naturally.Methods A matched control study was performed on psychomotor development of 12-month-old infants concieved with use of assisted reproductive technology(in vitro fertilization only).The control group was matched according to maternal age,parity,social class and level of parental education.The suitable mothers were invited to participate at the 28th week of gestation and were followed up to delivery.The infants of the two groups were followed up to 12 months old and a formal developmental assessment was done with the Children Development Center of China(CDCC) scales of infant development.Results The incidences of preterm birth,low birth weight and twin pregnancy were significantly higher in the assisted conception group.No statistically significant difference was found in the mental development index and psychomotor development index between assisted conception and control groups.Conclusions The levels of psychomotor development in 12 months old infants born after in vitro fertilization are normal.But as the incidences of preterm birth,low birth weight and multifetation are significantly higher in vitro fertilization group,it need to follow up the ongoing development of these children.

Objective To analyze the therapeutic effect ofShengji-Yuhong ointment in the treatment of patients with pressure ulcer.Methods 86 patients of pressure ulcer were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 43 cases in each. After debridement, the wound was covered with vaseline gauze in the control group, whileShengji-Yuhong ointment in the treatment group. 10 days constituted 1 course of treatment, and both groups were treated for 3 courses. The blood supply of the whole blood viscosity, plasma viscosity, erythrocyte aggregation index detection; white blood cell count (WBC), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and C reactive protein (CRP) were observed in order to observe the control condition of the patients with wound infection.Results The total effective rate was 95.3% (41/43) and 74.4% (32/43) in the observation group and control group respectively, with significant difference between two groups (χ2=5.800,P=0.016). After treatment, the whole blood viscosity (high-shea) (4.06 ± 1.38 mPa?svs. 4.74 ± 1.62 mPa?s,t=2.095), the whole blood viscosity (medium-shea) (3.71 ± 1.22 mPa?svs. 4.34 ± 1.41 mPa?s,t =2.216), blood reduction viscosity (1.13 ± 0.22 mPa?svs.1.44 ± 0.51 mPa?s,t=3.660), the whole blood viscosity (medium-shea) (4.16 ± 0.48 mPa?svs. 4.51 ± 0.89 mPa?s,t=2.270) obviously compared with group before treatment decreased (P<0.05). The patients in the observation group in the whole blood viscosity (medium-shea) (3.71 ± 1.22 mPa?svs. 4.16 ± 0.48 mPa?s,t=2.251), and blood reduction viscosity (1.13 ± 0.22 mPa?svs. 1.32 + 0.31 mPa?s,t=3.278) in the observation group were  obvious better than the control group (P<0.05). After the treatment the WBC, CRP, ESR in the observation group were decreased significantly than the control group (t=5.947, 7.198, 12.064,P<0.01).ConclusionShengji-Yuhong ointment can effectively control the PU infection in the wound, improve wound tissue under the blood circulation, and promote wound healing.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects and safety of rosuvastatin on blood lipid and thyroid nodules in elderly pa-tients with dyslipidemia. METHODS:70 elderly patients with dyslipidemia were selected and randomly divided into control group (33 cases) and treatment group (37 cases). Control group was treated with routine treatment as abstain from tobacco and drink, low fat diet,Aspirin enteric-coated tablets 100 mg at bed time;treatment group was additionally treated with Rosuvastatin calcium tablet 10 mg at bed time,on the basis of control group. Both groups received the treatment for consecutive 12 weeks. BMI,blood lipid and the size of thyroid nodules were compared between 2 groups before and after treatment,and the occurrence of ADR was also observed. RESULTS:There was no significant difference in BMI between 2 groups before and after treatment (P>0.05). There was no significant difference in blood lipid level and the size of thyroid nodules between 2 groups before and after treatment (P>0.05). The blood lipid level and the size of thyroid nodule of 2 groups were improved significantly after treatment,and the treatment group was significantly better than the control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05). 2 pationts of creatment suf-fered from the increase of ALT but recovered withont angtreatment. CONCLUSIONS:Rosuvastatin can significantly improve blood lipid and decrease thyroid nodules in elderly patients with dyslipidemia with good safety.

OBJECTIVETo observe the therapeutic effect of a drug pair of Radix Astragali and Rehmanniae Radix combined with glucocorticoid (GC) in treating lupus nephritis (LN) patients and its influence on some experimental indices.

METHODSTotally 52 LN patients were randomly assigned to the treatment group (treated by routine Western medicine and a drug pair of Radix Astragali and Rehmanniae Radix, 25 cases) and the control group (treated by Western medicine, mainly by GC and cyclophosphamide, 27 cases). All patients received 6-month therapy. The GC dosage, the withdrawal and reduction dosage of GC, clinical efficacy, systemic lupus erythematosus disease activity index (SLEDAI) score, adverse reactions, and laboratory indicators were recorded.

RESULTS(1) All patients got relieved to some degree with the dosage of GC reduced. The total withdrawal and reduction dosage of GC was slightly higher in the treatment group than in the control group [(50.23 +/- 12.43) mg vs (48.76 +/- 13.61) mg, P > 0.05]. Besides, the prednisone dosage in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group, but without statistical difference (P > 0.05). The ratio of patients in need of adding prednisone for aggravating disease was 24.0%, significantly lower than that in the control group (44.44%, P < 0.05). (2) There was no statistical difference in the SLEDAI score, inflammatory indicators, liver and renal functions, blood electrolytes, blood glucose, blood and urine routines between the two groups (P > 0.05). The 24-h urinary protein count was (1.06 +/- 0.22) g/L in the treatment group, obviously lower than that in the control group (1.43 +/- 0.55 g/L, P < 0.05). (3) There was no statistical difference in the incidence rate of infection, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, psychoneuroses, Cushing's syndrome, cardiovascular anomalies, and femoral head necrosis between the two groups (P > 0.05). But the incidence of adverse reactions such as insomnia, tidal fever, spontaneous sweat, and obesity was less in the treatment group than in the control group (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSUsing a drug pair of Radix Astragali and Rehmanniae Radix combined with GC in treating LN could withdraw the dosage of GC and relieve symptoms it induced. It was advantageous in reducing the dosage of GC and stabilizing patients' conditions.

Objective To study the effects of 3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) on motor function and learning and memory ability in rats with diffuse brain injury (DBI). Methods 128 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham operation group, traumatic group,low-dose NBP treatment group and high-dose NBP treatment group with 32 rats in each group. Every group was divided into 24 h, 48 h and 72 h subgroups. DBI rat model was established according to the description of Marmarou's diffused brain injury. The histopathologic changes of cerebral tissue (0.2 cm bilateralis coronal line) were observed by light and electron microscope at 24 h, 48 h and 72 h after injury. Morris water maze and rolling test were performed daily at 24, 48 and 72 h (time points). Results Compared with the model group, the damage of brain tissue decreased, and the survival nerve cells increased (P<0.01). The behavioral tests showed that the latency to find the platform shortened (P<0.01) and the frequency of crossing the platform increased in the 72 h subgroup (P<0.01). The general movement ability enhanced in NBP groups (P<0.05). All the indexes were more significant in high-dose NBP treatment group. Conclusion NBP can improve neurological function and learning and memory function after brain injury and the molecular mechanisms is related to the decrease of the nerve cells lose and traumatic cerebral ultrastructure damage.
