Objective:To synthesize the mental resilience of Chinese children tested with the Resilience Scale for Chinese Adolescents (RSCA)to evaluate its status as well as the research status. Methods:Four Chinese elec-tronic databases including China Biology Medicine disc (CBM),VIP Database,China National Knowledge Infra-structure (CNKI)and WangFang Database were searched from database established to December 2014. Literatures that reported the mental resilience status of Chinese children tested with RSCA were included. A statistical formula was used to synthesize means and standard deviations to get a total score;the standard mean difference (SMD)and 95% confidence interval (95%CI)of scores measured with RSCA scale were used to conduct meta-analyses usingthe software of Review Manager 5. 2 for comparison between different subgroups. Results:Thirty-nine studies with 16 493 children were included for the final analysis. Quantitative synthesis results showed that the average total score of Chinese children was (3. 3 0. 6 ). The status of psychological resilience was at a good level. The average psychological resilience scores of girls,not left-behind children,urban children,Han children and not-only-child were higher than those of boys [SMD (95%CI):-0. 09 (-0. 14--0. 05 )],left-behind children [SMD (95%CI):-0. 37(-0. 56--0. 19)],rural children [SMD (95%CI):0. 26(0. 13 -0. 38)],minority children [SMD (95%CI):0. 12(0. 04-0. 21)]and only-children [SMD (95%CI):0. 30(0. 16-0. 44)]respectively. Conclusion:The mental resilience of Chinese children is modest with internal diversity.

Objective To find out the risk factors of postoperative low cardiac output syndrome(LCOS) of patients undergoing cardiac valvular surgery in ICU in order to provide basic for prevention and control measures.Methods Ninety-six valve replacement patients with valvular heart disease were enrolled as our subjects and they were hospitalized in ICU of the First People's hospital of Yichang from Jan.2008 to May.2013.The patients postoperative LCOS (Dopamine ＞ 10 μg/(kg · min)) were served as observation group (n =41),and the other were control groups(n =55).All data of the patients were recorded.Non-conditions Logistic regressions analysis were adopted to analyze the independent risk factors which resulted in LCOS undergoing cardiac valvular surgery.Results Of 96 patients undergoing cardiac vavular surgery,41cases (42.7％) had postoperative LCOS.Single factor analysis showed that hepatomegaly (P =0.007),course of diseases ≥ 15 years (P =0.042),cardiopulmonary bypass ≥ 120 min (x2 =3.937,P =0.047),pre-operative cardiac function ≥ Ⅲ degree (P =0.003) were the independent risk factors of postoperative LCOS undergoing cardiac valvular surgery.The Logistic multi factor regression analysis showed that the independent risk factors of postoperative LCOS undergoing cardiac valvular surgery included course of diseases ≥ 15 years (OR =2.825,95％ CI =(1.015-7.861)),Pre-operative cardiac function ≥ Ⅲ degree (OR =7.306,95％ CI =(2.050-26.035),P=0.002).Conclusion Course of diseases ≥15 years and Pre-operative cardiac function≥ Ⅲ-Ⅳ degree are the independent risk factors of LCOS undergoing cardiac valvular surgery.

OBJECTIVETo observe the analgesic effects of single-and combined-laser irradiation with low-intensity applied at "Zusanli" (ST 36) in rats, and their relation to degranulation of mast cells.

METHODSSixty-six SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups: normal control group (Group NC), model control group (Group MC), sham irradiation group (Group SI), 10.6 microm laser irradiation group (Group 10.6 microm LI), 650 nm laser irradiation group (Group 650 nm LI) and combined (10.6 microm + 650 nm) laser irradiation group (Group CLI). Complete Freund's Adjuvant (0.05 mL) was injected into the left ankle joints of all the rats except those in Group NC to cause acute adjuvant-induced arthritis. In treatment, laser irradiation was applied at "Zusanli" (ST 36) for 30 minutes in all the rats except those in Group NC and Group MC. The paw withdrawal latency (PWL) to radian heat was used to compare analgesic effects among the groups. By means of toluidine blue, dyed slices of local tissues of "Zusanli" (ST 36) were used to observe changes of mast cell degranulation before and after laser irradiation.

RESULTSThe pain thresholds to irradiation of the rats in Group 650 nm LI and Group CLI were significantly higher than those in Group MC and Group SI (P < 0.01), and the mast cell degranulation rate in Group 650 nm LI and Group CLI were also significantly higher than that in Group MC and Group SI (P < 0.001). The pain threshold and mast cell degranulation rate in Group 10. 6 microm LI were not significantly different from those in Group MC and Group SI. There was a linear correlation between mast cell degranulation rate and PWL with 0. 737 in coefficient (P < 0.001).

CONCLUSIONSingle 650 nm laser and combined 650 nm + 10.6 microm laser with low intensity irradiated at "Zusanli" (ST 36) in acute adjuvant rats can provide remarkable analgesic effects, and there was a positive correlation between mast cell degranulation rate and analgesic effects, which plays an important part in laser irradiation-induced analgesia.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the protective effects of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)-containing Jiawei Wuzi Yanzong formula (CSF-C) on beta-amyloid protein-induced injury of hippocampal neurons.

METHODSPrimary hippocampal neurons were isolated and cultured for 7 days in vitro. CSF-C was prepared by cerebrospinal fluid extracted from SD rats fed continuously with various components of Jiawei Wuzi Yanzong formula (total formula, total flavonoids or total polysaccharides) respectively. The viability, morphological change, apoptotic rate and apoptosis-related proteins (caspase-3, PARP, Bcl-2, Bcl-XL, JNK1/2 and p38 MAPK) of neurons were detected in different groups: the untreated normal group, the Abeta(25-35)-treated group, and the CSF-C protected groups (co-acted by CSF-C and 20 micromol/L of Abeta(25-35)), respectively.

RESULTSCSF-C showed significant neuro-protective effect, and the protection of CSF-C contained total flavonoids or total polysaccharides was significantly greater than that contained total formula (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Moreover, the effects of CSF-C contained various components on apoptosis-related proteins were different.

CONCLUSIONSome flavonoid and polysaccharide components in Jiawei Wuzi Yanzong formula can pass through the blood brain barrier and protect neurons from beta-amyloid protein-induced neuron injury to some extents.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of Japan Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis Study Group (JLSG) Protocol in treatment of children suffering from multiple system langerhans cell histiocytosis (MS-LCH). The clinical features, therapeutic response and prognosis of 11 children who were diagnosed and treated by JLSG in our department during October 2004 through October 2011 were analyzed. Among all 11 cases, 8 males and 3 females, the age at diagnosis was from 3 month to 6.5 years old with a median age of 3 years old. There were 10 cases of LCH with multi-system involvement (MS-LCH) and 1 case of single-system involvement (SS-LCH). Among those MS-LCH patients, 5 patients had risk organ involvement, and the other 5 patients did not develop risk organ involvement. All patients had been treated with JLSG protocol. The results showed that 4 cases achieved good response after 6-week induction treatment and the time of drug discontinuation were 5 - 20 months without relapse; 3 cases achieved partial response after 6-week induction treatment, among them 1 case did not relapse after discontinuation of drugs for 19 months, 1 case was still receiving maintenance treatment, 1 case abandoned induction treatment; 4 patients got no response (NR) or progressive disease after 6-week of induction treatment and were switched to salvage therapy, among them, 2 patients had stopped treatment for 2 - 20 months without relapse, 1 patient was still receiving maintenance treatment, one had changed to another therapy. It is concluded that the most of childhood LCH can be effectively controlled by immunochemical therapy based on the JLSG protocol. For children with LCH who has a poor response after 6-week induction treatment, LCH can still be well controlled if switched to salvage treatment.

A strain KX6,producing thermotolerant endoglucanase,was isolated from compost. The morpholo-gical identification and 16S rRNA sequence analysis showed it belongs to Streptomyces xylophagus. The production and characterization of endoglucanase from Streptomyces xylophagus KX6 was studied. Maximum endoglucanase yield of 0.538 IU/ml was achieved with medium pH8.0,containing CMC2Na 1.0% as carbon resource,soybean meal 1% as nitrogen resource,2% inoculating volume,30% 250 ml triangle flask bulk for medium volume at 40℃ 200r/min shaker for 48h. The endoglucanase exhibited optimum catalytic activity at pH7.0 and 50℃. The enzyme was stable at 50℃,and able to retain 60% of the full activity,when it was incubated at 60℃ for 1h.The enzyme was stable at pH6.0~7.0. All these findings suggest that the enzyme is a thermotolerant neutral endoglucanase.

OBJECTIVETo study the mechanism of male reproductive toxicity of metadoxine (MTDX) on mice and rats.

METHODSMouse multiple endpoints assay and Hershberger assay were employed to evaluate the potential estrogenic and/or antiandrogenic effects of MTDX. In mouse multiple endpoints assay, MTDX (0, 640, 1500 and 4000 mg/kg, respectively) were administered once daily p.o. for 5 days in sexually matured and ovariectomied female NIH mice. Five endpoints evaluated as markers of estrogenicity included the ratio of uterine weight to body weight, incidence and extent of uterine fluid imbibition (hydrometra), vaginal epithelial cornification during estrous cycle (estrinization) and thickness of uterine epithelial cell and stroma cell. In Hershberger assay, MTDX (0, 600 and 1500 mg/kg, respectively) was administered once daily p.o. for 10 days to castrated male SD rats with or without testosterone propionate (TP, 12.5 mg/kg, i.p. for 10 days) substitution. Relative weight of androgen dependent issues was measured.

RESULTSIn mouse multiple endpoints assay, ratio of uterine weight to body weight was 1.33, 1.38 and 1.31 x 10(-4) in MTDX 640, 1500 and 4000 mg/kg groups, respectively, without significant difference from that in control group (1.22 x 10(-4)). Thickness of uterine uterine epithelial cell (0.90 and 1.03 microm) and stroma cell (3.38 and 3.25 microm) in MTDX 1500 and 4000 mg/kg groups was not significantly different from the control group (0.85 microm and 2.77 microm, respectively). In Hershberger assay, relative weight of prostate plus seminal vesicle, levator ani muscle and bulbocavernous muscle was 1.13, 0.17 and 0.42, respectively, in the 1500 mg/kg group, significantly decreased as compared with those in the control group (1.46, 0.24 and 0.70, respectively) (P < 0.01). Relative weight of prostate plus seminal vesicle (1.29) in the MTDX 600 mg/kg group reduced slightly, with statistical significance (P < 0.05), as compared with that in the control group (1.46).

CONCLUSIONSIn the present study, MTDX did not exhibit any estrogenic effect in mice in vivo. However, it had antiandrogenic activity in castrated male SD rats, indicating that its antiandrogenic effect may be involved in it's male reproductive toxicity.

This study was aimed to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of rabbit anti-thymocyte globulin (r-ATG) combined with cyclosporine A (CsA) and to analyse the efficacy-related factors in children with aplastic anemia (AA). Twenty five AA children treated with r-ATG [3.5 mg/(kg·d)×5 days] combined with CsA were analyzed retrospectively. The lymphocyte subgroups, CD4(+)/CD8 ratio and expression of CD55, CD59 on surface of neutrophils and erythrocytes in peripheral blood were detected by direct immunofluorescence method and flow cytometry; the responsive time, effective rate, adverse effects and infections after immunosuppressive therapy (IST) were analyzed; the distribution of T-lymphocyte subgroups in IST-effective and IST-uneffective groups was compared, and therapeutic efficacy-related factors were evaluated. The results showed that the response to treatments was found in 21 out of 25 cases, the total responsive rate was 84.0%; the response time was 3 - 6 months, average of 4 months; the effective rates in month 3, 6, 9, 12 after treatment were 56.0%, 72.0%, 80.0% and 84.0% respectively. The AA children with age ≥ 5 years old, course of disease < 6 months and absolute neutrophil value ≥ 1.5 ×10(9)/L on 30 days after IST had good curative effect; the effective rate in AA children with age ≥ 5 years old, course of disease < 6 months, high or reverse ratio of CD4(+)/CD8(+) and absolute neutrophil value ≥ 1.5×10(9)/L after IST was higher than that in AA children with age < 5 years old, course of disease ≥ 6 months, normal ratio of CD4(+)/CD8(+) and absolute neutrophil value after IST < 1.5×10(9)/L (94.4% vs 57.1%, 90.4% vs 50.0%, 94.1% vs 62.5%, 94.1% vs 62.5%) (P < 0.05). The high effective rate was observed in AA children with decrease of CD55 and CD59 expression, but there was no significant difference (P > 0.05) as compared with normal expression of CD55, CD59. It is concluded that the treatment using r-ATG (3.5 mg/kg·d × 5 d) combined with CsA is a safe and effective for children with AA. Age, course of disease and absolute neutrophil value on 30 days after IST are the main factors affecting curative affect.
