Objective To investigate the species composition and quantitative dynamic state of rodent and parasitic flea in Huairou District of Beijing City,and to carry out serologic monitoring of animal plague.Methods Rodent density was investigated at different habitats in eight villages and towns between 2009 and 2011.Serum samples from captured rodents were detected by indirect hemagglutination test,and genotypes of collected parasitic fleas were identified.Results A total of 709 rodents which belong to eight different kinds were captured with a rodent density of 2.52％ (83/3 300),and Rattus niviventer and Apodemus peninsulae were dominant species,acounted for 46.4％ (329/709) and 18.1％(128/709),respctively.Five hundred and sixty-three serum samples of rodents were tested by plague indirect hemagglutination,and all of them were plague antibody negative.Two hundred fleas were checked with a flea infected rate of 29.63％ (48/162),and a flea index of 1.23; Paraceras crispus and Leptopsylla pavlovskii were dominant flea species,a total of 30 and 27,respectively.Conclusion Some environment conditions are suitable for rodents survival,even though there is no sign of animal plague epidemic.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of glucose and insulin on the synthesis and secretion of adrenomedullin (ADM) by rat aortas in vitro.MethodsThe rat aortas were cut into pieces and divided into several equal groups. All the groups were incubated in K-H buffers including different levels of glucose,insulin and insulin+glucose for 3 hours,the group incubated in K-H buffer without glucose was used as control. To determine ADM in K-H buffers and tissues using RIA method.ResultsADM levels in insulin groups (100.0 μIU/ml,200.0 μIU/ml) and insulin+glucose groups were higher than that in control (P<0.05),the ADM levels in glucose groups and low level insulin group (20.0 μIU/ml) were not significantly difference compared with the control. ConclusionHigh levels of insulin can stimulate the synthesis and secretion of ADM.

Objective To observe the effects and mechanism of lung inflation with carbon monoxide (CO) during the cold ischemia phase on lung ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) after rat lung transplantation.Method Twenty-four pairs of SD rats were selected to establish the model of lung transplantation,and random number method was used to divide 24 donors into 3 groups with 8 rats in each group.(1) CO inflation group (CO group):During the cold ischemia phase,500 ppm CO +volume fraction 40％ O2 + N2 was used for lung inflation,and the volume was 5 mL/kg;(2) O2 inflation group (O2 group):During the cold ischemia phase,volume fraction 40％ O2 + volume fraction 60％ N2 was used for lung inflation;(3) Control group:The lung was deflated during the cold ischemia phase.The gas was replaced every 30 min in the CO and O2 groups,and the lung transplantations were performed after 180 min of cold ischemia.The arterial blood gas analysis was performed at baseline,3 min after reperfusion,and 60,120,and 180 min after reperfusion.The recipient serum levels of relative inflammatory factors,lung tissue cell apoptosis and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) protein expression were detected after 180 min of reperfusion.Result As compared with the control group (238 ± 61 mm Hg),the oxygenation index in the O2 group (293 ± 78 mm Hg) and CO group (361 ± 48 mm Hg) was increased (P＜0.05),and as compared with the O2 group,that in the CO group was increased (P＜0.05).Furthermore,as compared with the control group,the interleukin (IL)-8,tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α,and cell apoptosis in the O2 group and CO group were decreased significantly,and as compared with the O2 group,those in the CO group and NF-κB protein expression were significantly decreased (P＜0.05).Conclusion Lung inflation with CO during the cold ischemia phase ameliorated the rat lung IRI via reducing the inflammatory response and cell apoptosis mediated by the NF-κB pathway.

To offer the reference and method for salt damage in the cultivation of Marsdenia tenacissima, the seeds of M. tenacissima collected from Maguan city ( Yunnan province) were taken as the test materials to study the effects of different priming materials on improving germination and growth under high-level salt stress condition. Four different treatments, which were GA3, KNO3-KH2PO4, PEG-6000, NaCl, combined with ANOVA were applied to test the performance of germination energy, germination percentage, germination index, MDA, SOD, and CAT. The results showed that the seed germination was obviously inhibited under salt stress and the soaked seeds with different priming materials could alleviate the damage of salt stress. Under these treatments, the activities of SOD, CAT the content of soluble protein significantly increased. While the content of MDA significantly decreased. The maximum index was obtained when treated with 1.20% KNO3-KH2PO4, the germination percentage increased from 52.67% to 87.33% and the activity of SOD increased from 138.01 to 219.44 respectively. Comparing with the treatment of 1.20% KNO3-KH2PO4, the germination percentage of treating with 300 mg x L(-1) GA3 increased from 52.67% to 80.67%, while the activity of SOD increased from 138.01 to 444.61.

In this paper, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy fingerprint analysis of Marsdenia tenacissima samples was used to develop a reliable method of tracing the geographical origins. Forty-eight samples from four provinces of China were analyzed by FTIR. We analyzed and characterized the fingerprints in both the full spectrum peaks and characteristic peaks, then the principal component analysis and the cluster analysis were carried out. The results of fingerprint analysis, correlation analysis, principal component analysis and cluster analysis can identify the geographic origins correctly, which verified and supplemented each other; the identification results and the actual location showed a high degree of consistency, namely the lower the space distance, the greater the similarity of different samples. These results revealed the obvious superiority and practical value in comparison to the more tedious and time-consuming wet chemistry method normally used. Using appropriate metrology methods can trace the geographical source correctly. The M. tenacissima materials from the region of Maguan should be considered as genuine medicinal materials taking into account the good quality.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of overlapping biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting stents (EXCEL) in treating the patients with diffuse long coronary lesions (total stent length for per lesion>60 mm).
Methods: A total of 71 patients with diffuse long coronary lesions with overlapped EXcellstents implantation in our hospital from 2010-08 to 2012-05 were retrospectively studied. The average age of patients was (62.85 ± 10.26) years and 74.56%with male gender. The clinical endpoints were the major adverse cardiac events (MACE) at in-hospital time and at 2-year follow-up period.
Results: The average target lesion was implanted (2.61 ± 0.52) stents, the mean stent diameter was (3.21 ± 0.35) mm and the length was (73.34 ± 13.11) mm. The in-hospital MACE rate was 4.23%, the 2-year target vessel revascularization and MACE rates were 9.86%and 18.31%respectively. Cox regression analysis indicated that smoking (HR 12.102, 95%CI 1.460-100.309, P=0.021), previous history of MI (HR 11.948, 95%CI 1.144-124.726, P=0.038) and previous history of PCI (HR 0.097, 95%CI 0.010-0.990, P=0.049) were the independent risk factors of out of hospital MACE occurrence.
Conclusion: EXcellstent implantation was safe and effective for treating the patients with diffuse long coronary lesions, the long term follow-up study revealed that there was the increased risk for MACE and target vessel revascularization.

Objective To explore the regulation function of Icariine on the expression of bone morphogenetic protein signaling pathway Smad1,Smad5,Smad4 and to explore the mechanism of promoting MC3T3-E1 cell proliferation and differentiation.Methods MC3T3-E1 cells were treated by 0,10-9,10-8 and 10-7 mol/L Icariine respectively.After stimulated by Icariine 1 d,2 d and 3 d,MTT method and population diploid time were used to observe the cell proliferation,and the cell alkaline phosphatase (ALP) level was assayed.At 21 days later,the alizarin red staining was proceeded.At 1,2 and 3 days later,the RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression level about Smad1,Smad5 and Smad4,and the Western blot was to detect the Smad1,5 and Smad4 protein.At 2 days later,the RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression level about Runx2,BMP-2 and osteoprotegerin (OPG),and the Western blot was used to analyze osteocalcin (OCN) protein level.Results After simulated by Icariine,the proliferation (MTT test),the ALP activity and mineralization of osteoblasts were increased,the cell population diploid was reduced (P＜0.05).At 1,2 and 3days later,the results of RT-PCR showed that Icariine continued increasing the mRNA level of Smad1,5 and Smad4 in 10-8 mol/L.At 2 days later,Smad1,Smad5 and Smad4 mRNA expression were obviously reduced in 0 mol/L group,and At 3 days later,Smad1,Smad5 and Smad4 mRNA expression were obviously reduced in 10-9 and 10-7 mol/L groups.At 2 days later,BMP-2,Runx2 and OPG mRNA were obviously increased in 10-8 mol/L group.The results of Western blot showed that OCN,Smad1,Smad5 and Smad4 protein were obviously up-regulated in 10-8 mol/L group.Conclusion Icariine occurs the expressions of BMP-2,Runx2,Smad1,Smad5 and Smad4 by stimulating the bone morphology of MC3T3-E1 cells directly,and promotes the osteogenic differentiation in the manner of expression level synchronous rising.

AIM :To investigate the association of primary open-glaucoma (POAG), intraocular pressure (IOP) and systemic blood pressure in a rural population aged 50 years old or above in Shaanxi Province, China.METHODS: In the population-based, cross-sectional study, 1 775 (83.53%) residents, aged 50 years old or above, from 3 counties of Shaanxi Province, China, undertook an interview with a standard questionnaire and a detailed eye examination, including logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution visual acuity, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, applanation tonometry and dilated fundus examination. Two blood pressure reading in the sitting position were taken. Gonioscopy was performed if a narrower peripheral anterior chamber (less than one fourth of the corneal thickness) was indicated. Automated visual field testing was performed by participants assessed to have suspicion of glaucomatous disc damage or if IOP was 22mmHg or higher.RESULTS: IOP significantly correlated with systemic blood pressure, and both IOP and systolic blood pressure increased significantly with increasing age. No association between POAG and hypertension was found. The frequency of POAG increased significantly with lower diastolic perfusion pressure.CONCLUSION: Data in our study are accordance with those reported in other population-based studies, and confirm that lower diastolic perfusion pressure is a significant risk factor for primary open angle glaucoma.

AIM: To assess the prevalence and risk factors for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in a rural population in Shaanxi Province of China.METHODS: A total of 2 835 (81.00%) people aged 40 years old or more, from Fuping county, Jingbian county and Yang county of Shaanxi Province, China, underwent a comprehensive interview and a relative eye examination. The present of AMD was classified into neovascular AMD (NV) and pure geographic atrophy (GA) by using direct ophthalmoscopy for fundus examination according to International Classification System.RESULTS: The prevalence (95% CI) of AMD was 3.00% (2.42, 3.71) in this population, of which NV accounted for 1.45% (1.05, 1.98) and 1.55% (1.14, 2.10)for GA. The prevalence of AMD increased significantly with increasing age (P ＜0.001). AMD was present in 0.47% of participants aged 40 to 49 years, rising to 11.90% of participants older than 80 years, of which the corresponding data increased from 0.28% to 4.76% for NV and from 0.19% to 7.14% for GA. No significant difference was found in the prevalence of NA and GA between genders in this population. With multiple logistic analyses, apart from advancing age, only smoking was found to have a strong association with any type of AMD.CONCLUSION: The prevalence of AMD in the rural population of Shaanxi Province of China is lower than that reported from other population-based studies in different provinces of China, less than that reported in whites, more than that reported in blacks. Except increasing age, smoking is also a significant well-known risk factor for AMD.
