Aim To investigate the effects of 1 7-me-thoxyl-7-hydroxyl-benzofuran chalcone(YLSC)on my-ocardial ischemia /reperfusion injury(MI /RI)by mod-ulating PI3K/Akt signaling pathway and the possible mechanisms.Methods Male SD rats were randomly
divided into sham group,model group,YLSC group, wortmannin(WM)group and YLSC +WM group(n =8).The rat model of MI /RI was established by ligation of the left anterior descending artery for 30 min fol-lowed by loosening the ligature for 2 h.After reperfu-
sion,blood samples were obtained to determine serum contents of CK-MB,LDH,NO and TNF-α.The pro-tein levels of total (t)-Akt,phosphorylated (p)-Akt and LC3-Ⅱ were detected by Western blot.Caspase-3,Beclin1 and eNOS mRNA expression was evaluated by FQ-PCR.Results YLSC pretreatment greatly re-duced serum levels of CK-MB,LDH and TNF-α,and elevated NO content.It also inhibited the expression of
caspase-3,Beclin1 and LC3-Ⅱ,while enhanced p-Akt and eNOS expression.Conclusion YLSC protects the heart against MI /RI via inhibition of apoptosis and excessive autophagy,in which protective effect is regu-lated by activation of the PI3K/Akt pathway.

Objective:To explore the clinical effect of glucocorticoid methylprednisolone combined with the conventional treatment on severe hand-foot-mouth disease ( HFMD) in children. Methods:One hundred and twenty children with severe HFMD from our hos-pital were randomly divided into the hormone group and non-hormone group with 60 cases each. The non-hormone group was treated with western routine therapy, and the hormone group was treated with glucocorticoid methylprednisolone 2mg·kg-1 ·d-1 additionally. The changes in such symptoms as fever, rash, surprised and chatter, drowsiness and shock were recorded in all cases. The disappear-ance time of febrile, shock and herpes and hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results:The clinical effect of the hor-mone group was better than the non-hormone group;it could shorten the disappearance time of febrile, shock, herpes and pharyngeal buccal redness (P<0. 05), while showed no effect on the hospital stay. Conclusion:Glucocorticoid combined with the routine thera-py in the treatment of severe HFMD in infants exhibits better clinical effect.

Thirty cases of hiccup due to cerebral disorders were treated by injecting 2 ml of Angelica(another 30 cases were treated by muscular injection of 30 mg of metoclopramide as the control group.After the treatments for three days, the total effective rate was 100% in the former and 83.3% in the latter.

Anti-HIV drugs still remain as the dominant role in the treatment of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), because no vaccine was found till today. Owing to structural diversity, few side effects, and abundant resources, natural compounds from traditional Chinese medicines and medicinal plants have unique advantages and good potential in prevention and treatment of AIDS. Many researchers have made great efforts in the field of anti-HIV natural compounds, and have found some natural compounds from traditional Chinese medicines with potent anti-HIV activities. These compounds can be classified into the following categories: alkaloids, coumarins, lignans, flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins, polysaccharides, proteins and peptides, and polyphenols. However, most of these researches are performed in vitro, and most natural compounds show weak anti-HIV activities and indefinite acting targets. In the paper, we reviewed some natural compounds derived from traditional Chinese medicines with potent anti-HIV activities in recent years.

Objective To compare the effectiveness and safety of radiofrenquency ablation(RFA) with other therapeutic methods for patients with early hepatocelluar carcinoma(HCC). Methods Randomized clinical trials(RCTs)which compared the efficacy or safety of RFA with other therapeutic methods for primary hepatocellular carcinoma in Cochrane library,EMBASE,PubMed,OVID and CBM were searched.Trials were considered of high quality if methodological quality score was 3 or more according to Jadad standard.Statistical heterogeneity between trials was evaluated bv STATA 9.0 and considered to exist when P＜0.1.Heterogeneity of the included articles was tested and used to select proper effective model for calculation.Sensitivity analysis was performed and publication bias was investigated through visual inspection of funnel plots and Egger regression model.Results Six RCTs including 862 cases were analyzed.As compared with other therapeutic approaches,RFA significandy increased 3-year overall survival rate and reduced local recurrence rate of early hepatocelluar carcinoma:the total OR were 2.06(95%CI being 1.54-2.77,P=0.000)and 0.40(95%CI being 0.28-0.57,P=0.000)respectively.As compared with other therapeutic approaches,the total OR of new HCC recurrence rates,extrahepatic metastasis rate and major complications in patients with HCC treated with RFA were 0.92 (95%CI being 0.68-1.24),0.98(95%CI being 0.30-3.22),1.35(95%CI being 0.49-3.77)respectively,showing no significant differences(P＞0.05).Inspection of the funnel plots for all outcome measures did not reveal evidence of publication bias(P=0.670,0.160,0.884,0.087,0.317,respectively,by Egger regression model).Conclusions RFA is superior to other treatment methods with respect to local recurrence and 3 year overall survival in early HCC and is the preferred tberapeutic method for small HCC because it is minimally invasive,simple and convenient.

Objective To pool the data of studies and evaluate the efficacy and safety of TNFα blocking agents in the treatment of ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods The randomized clinical trials(RCT)that compared the efficacy or safety of TNFα in the treatment of UC were researched from Pubmed. OVID. EMBASE. Cochrane library, CNKI, Wanfang data and VIP Chinese Scientific and Technologic Periodical Database. Statistical heterogeneity between trials was evaluated by Revman 5.0 and was considered to exist when P＜0.1.Heterogeneity of the included articles was tested. which was used to select proper effect model to calculate. Publication bias was investigated through visual inspection of funnel plots. Results Nine RCT including 1226 cases were analyzed. Eight hundred and six cases had received TNFα treatment and 420cases had received placebo or glucocorticoid treatment. Compared with placebo or glucocorticoid groups, TNFα group achieved significantly higher rates of short-term clinical response, short-term clinical remission, long-term clinical response.10ng-term clinical remission and the total OR were 2.36(95%C,1.34-4.15),2.42(95%CI 1.22-4.81).3.22(95%CI2.28-4.55)and 2.82(95%CI1.91-4.16)respectively. TNFα group was less likely to undergo colectomy than placebo group and the total OR was 0.31(95%CI0.20-0.48).TNFα could not improve the mucosal healing and quality of lire. No significant difference was found in adverse effect between TNFα group and placebo or glueoeortieoid group(OR=1.07(95%CI0.55-2.09,P=0.84)).The rate of serious adverse effect in TNFα group was less than placebo or glueoeorticoid groups (OR=0.65,95%CI0.48-0.89,P=0.007).Inspection of the funnel plots for all dichotomous data measures had not revealed evidence of publication bias. Conclusions Patients with moderately to severely active UC treated with TNFαhave effective clinical response and clinical remission and are less likely to undergo colectomy than those receiving placebo or glucocorticoid. TNFα treatment is safe for UC but can not improve the mucosal healing and quality of life. Large-scale, high-quality RCTs ale needed to confirm or refuse the available evidence.

Objective To investigate the relation of event-related potentials (ERPs), which are evoked by calculating and number recognizing stimuli.Methods We examined 26 healthy undergraduate students with double-digit (Arabic numbers) and single-digit modify a prescription problems. While the stimulus information was presented, electroencephalogram (EEG) was recorded simultaneously. ERPs were extracted from EEG data, and then the feature and source of ERPs were analyzed.Results Both calculation and number recognizing induced positive and negative components of ERPs with similar wave form and different latency. The latency of ERPs was conspicuously shorter elicited by number recognizing than by calculating. Grand mean mapping showed the highest amplitudes of ERPs were presented in parietal lobe elicited both by calculating and number recognizing.Conclusion The processing of calculating is more complicated than number recognizing. Calculating and number recognizing may have different electrophysiological background, and they belong to diverse processing course in the brain. Parietal lobe is the functional domains of them.

[Objective] To investigate the effects of platycodin D(PD) on the proliferation and apoptosis of human stomach cancer SGC7901 and the related mechanism.[Methods] SGC7901 was cultured in virto and was treated with 5～20μm·L-1 concentrations of PD.Cell proliferation was examined by MTT assay.Cell apoptosis was detected by Annexin V FITC/PI double staining.The change of mitochondrial trans-membrane potential was measured by JC-1 staining.The potein expression of cleaved caspase-3,cleaved caspase-9,cleaved PARP,bcl-2,bax,p-ERK,ERK,p-JNK,JNK,p-p38 and p38 detected by Western blot.[Results] MTT results showed that PD inhibited the growth of SGC7901 cells in a dose-dependent manner at 24h and 48h.SGC7901 cells treated with PD for 24h showed significantly enhanced apoptosis and weakened mitochondrial membrane potential compared with the control cells.Western blot results showed that PD could up-regulate expression of cleaved PARP,cleaved caspase-3,cleaved caspase-9,bax,p-JNK,p-p38 protein,decreased bcl-2,p-ERK protein,the expression of ERK,JNK,p38 protein did not change significantly.[Conclusion] PD may inhibit the proliferation and induce the apoptosis of SGC7901 cells.These findings indicated that PD inhibited cell proliferation by inhibiting the ERK signaling.PD effect on bax and bcl-2 by activation of JNK and p38 signaling pathway resulted in the decrease of mitochondrial membrane potential and activation of caspase,which induced the apoptosis of cancer cells.
