National Journal of Andrology 2007;13(9):807-809
OBJECTIVETo investigate the ultrasonographic characteristics of benign cystic lesions in the scrotum.
METHODSA total of 96 patients with benign cystic lesions in the scrotum were analyzed retrospectively.
RESULTSEighteen of the patients had benign cystic lesions in the testis, including 9 cases of intratesticular cystic lesion, 5 tubular ectasia of the rete testis, 2 epidermoid cyst and 2 dermoid cystine. And 78 of the total number had the lesions in the epididymis, including 75 cases of seminal cyst and 3 seminal fluid deposition in the epididymis. High-frequency ultrasound could clearly reveal benign cystic lesions in the scrotum, differentiate them from cystis degeneration of testiculoma, and diagnose tubular ectasia of the rete testis and seminal fluid deposition in the epididymis.
CONCLUSIONUltrasonography could be a first choice and a valuable imaging means in the diagnosis of benign cystic lesions in the scrotum.

OBJECTIVETo provide experimental proof for establishing a standard quality evaluation method of adhesive property on Cataplasma by studying the factors of effect on evaluation of adhesive quality on Cataplasma.
METHODWith 180 degrees peel off test, tensile shear and adhesive force test, the influence caused by the square of samples, texture of fabric base and the moisture loss was tested with multifunctional material tester and first stickiness tester.
RESULTThe peel off strength of 40 mm wide sample is 26% lower than that of the 20 mm wide sample (P < 0.05), and tensile shear strength had no significant difference. The peel off strength of transverse fabric base was higher than that of lengthways fabric base (P < 0.01). The tensile shear strength of transverse fabric base was lower than that of lengthways fabric base (P < 0.05). The sample with 35% moisture lost had a maximum tensile shear strength and the sample which lost 30% moisture lost had a maximum peel off strength; The sample which lost 20% moisture lost had a maximum first adhesive force.
CONCLUSIONThe square of samples, the texture of fabric base and the moisture loss of samples can all affect the evaluation of adhesive quality on Cataplasma.

Objective:To explore the effect and possible mechanism of normal temperature mechanical perfusion(NMP)plus bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMMSCs)on early endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERs)and cellular apoptosis after donation after cardiac death(DCD)donor liver transplantation. Methods:BMMSCs were isolated and cultured by adherence method.Sixty Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats were randomly divided into five groups of sham operation(sham), static cold storage(SCS), NMP, BMMSC and NMP plus BMMSCs(BP)( n=12 each). Liver tissue and serum sample of each group were harvested at Day 1/7 post-operation.Hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining was employed for observing pathological changes of liver tissue; TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling(TUNNEL)staining for detecting cellular apoptosis; immunohistochemistry for detecting the expression of hepatocyte transcription factor C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP); Western blot for detecting the expressions of GRP-78, p-PERK, ATF4, CHOP and cleaved caspase-3. Results:Compared with SCS group, hepatic injury and inflammation significantly declined in NMP, BMMSC and BP groups and improvement of hepatic injury was the most pronounced in BP group.Cellular apoptosis lessened markedly in BP group at Day 1/7 as compared with SCS group and the difference was statistically significant. The expressions of ERs-related proteins GRP-78, p-PERK and ATF4 spiked in SCS group and the expressions of pro-apoptotic proteins CHOP and cleaved caspase-3 were significantly elevated and declined markedly in BP group. And the difference was statistically significant. Conclusions:BMMSCs plus NMP can significantly improve hepatocyte apoptosis and inflammatory response after DCD donor liver transplantation. And its mechanism may be correlated with suppressing early endoplasmic reticulum stress of hepatocytes.
