Relevant literatures on the relationship betw een fluorosis and oxidative stress were reviewed.Based on most of the original papers published in recent years,we can see the increased free radicals and oxidative stress may occur in certain stage of fluoride intoxication,but confirmation of the causality between oxidative stress and fluoride-induced damages still remains much work to do.

Objective Laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy have been used in early diagnosis of GI cancer, but the device is expensive and inconvenient. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness and feasibility of a new device designed by the authors. Methods Two formulas were set up based on the analysis of OMA data and a new system was established. Fifteen samples of normal tissue and 40 cases of endoscopic diagnosed cancer were tested. Results (1) First formula: general energy of fluorescence was W 359～659 nm . (2) The second: the ratio of energy integral was W 359～460 nm /W 460～659 nm . (3) The sensitivity and specificity were 93.3% and 100.0% for 15 samples of gastro intestinal cancer in vitro and were 90.0% and 92.5% respectively for gastrointestinal cancer endoscopically. Conclusions (1) The deviec may help doctors to determine the characteristics of lesion in endoscopy and the efficacy of the instrument was the same as OMA system. (2) The cost was about one tenth of that for OMA system.

Objective To observe the preventive effects of Tripterygium hypoglaucum(Level)Hutch(THH)extract on T lymphocyte subpopulations in mice with graft-versus-host disease(GVHD)and to explore its protective mechanism.Methods 2?107 bone marrow cells mixed with 2?107 spleen cells from C57BL/6 mouse were transplanted into the myeloablative irradiated inbred BALB/c mouse.The experiment groups were designed as follows:model control group,cyclosporine A(CsA,10 mg?kg-1?d-1)group,THH(400 mg?kg-1?d-1)group,combination group(CsA 5 mg?kg-1?d-1 + THH 100 mg?kg-1?d-1).The ocurrence of GVHD was assessed by signs of weight loss,diarrhea,ruffled fur,hunched posture and histologic changes of skin,liver and small intestines.Chimerism was detected by monitoring the H-2b molecule in bone marrow cells of recipient mice with flow cytometer.The percentages of CD+3CD+4 and CD+3CD+8 T cells in peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometer.Results The survival time of CsA group,THH group and combination group were prolonged as compared with that of the model control group(P

Objective To evaluate the effects of root canal cleanliness on the fracture resistance of roots filled with AH-Plus. Methods Eighty single canal premolars were instrumented using step-back technique, then were randomly di-vided into four groups (n=20 for each group). Group A was washed with distilled water for 10 min, group B1 was washed with 5%EDTA for 1 min, group B2 was washed with 5%EDTA for 5 min and group B3 was washed with 5%EDTA for 10 min. Ten samples of each group were observed by scanning electron microscope at the coronal, middle and apical thirds to exam-ine smear layer removal. The remaining samples of each group were fixed into a electronic universal testing machine and ver-tically loaded until fracture. Results The difference of coronal and middle thirds was significant between group B3 and group B2 (P<0.05). At the middle third, there was significantly improved efficiency in smear layer removal in group B2 than that of group B1(P<0.05). The mean fracture resistance was significantly higher in group B3 (391.91±12.82)N than that of group B2 (335.54±16.14)N, group B1(296.47±17.82) N and group A (264.77±16.64)N (P<0.05). Group B2 showed a signifi-cantly better fracture resistance than that of group B1 and group A (P<0.05). Conclusion The complete removal of root ca-nal smear layer can significantly improve the fracture resistances of roots filled with AH-Plus.

Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluate the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma subtyping.Methods 206 cases with renal tumors were confirmed by pathology and surgery from June 2012 to June 2014,including 113 male cases and 93 female cases.The mean age was 54 years (range 23-80 years).The subtype of renal tumor included clear cell carcinoma in 147 cases,papillary cell carcinoma in 32 cases,chromophobe cell carcinoma in 27 cases.All patients were received the CEUS before operation.The enhancement patterns,degree of enhancement,the appearance of necrosis and the time-intensity curve by contrast-enhanced ultrasound were analyzed.Results Enhancement patterns of CEUS were showed by fast in and fast out in 63.9％ (94/147)cases with clear cell carcinoma,59.4％ (19/32) cases with papillary cell carcinoma,51.9％ (14/27) cases with chromophobe cell carcinoma.Statistical significant diference was shown among those subtype groups (P ＜ 0.05).Most of the clear cell carcinomas (127/147,86.4％) showed hyperenhancing.While,the papillary renal cell carcinoma (22/32,68.8％) and chromophobe cell carcinoma (15/27,55.6％) showed hypoenhancing (P ＜ 0.05).The rate of necrosis in clear renal cell carcinoma was 62.6％ (92/147),and 59.4％ (19/32) in papillary cell carcinoma.necrosis area accounted for only 18.5％ (5/27)in chromophobe cell carcinoma (P ＜ 0.05).In the time-intensity curve analysis,the initial time,the average arrival time,the time to peak and area under the curve in renal cortex was (11.06 ± 2.75) s,(23.42 ± 2.79) s,(27.47 ± 3.02) dB,(35.01 ± 2.94)dB,respectively.Significant differences in those items were found in clear cell carcinoma,which was(8.01 ± 1.89) s,(20.05 ± 3.01) s,(30.03 ± 2.98) dB,(37.64 ± 4.01) dB respectively,compared with those in cortex (P ＜ 0.05).The arrival time,time to peak,peak intensity and area under the curve in papillary cell carcinoma were (1 1.12 ± 2.43) s,(27.29 ± 3.54) s,(20.13 ± 2.67) dB,(34.67 ±3.24) dB,respectively.The curve showed the time to peak was higher and the peak intensity were lower than those of renal cortex (P ＜0.05).The arrival time,time to peak,peak intensity and area under the curve in chromophobe cell carcinoma were (11.32 ± 2.90) s,(22.21 ± 3.62) s,(22.02 ± 2.52) dB,(28.67 ± 3.65) dB,respectively.The curve demonstrated peak intensity and area under the curve were lower than those of surrounding renal cortex (P ＜ 0.05).The increase of tumor diameter after contrast-enhanced ultrasound in clear cell carcinoma was about (0.35 ± 0.11)cm and in nonclear cell carcinoma was about (0.23 ± 0.10) cm (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The contrast-enhanced ultrasound played an important role in diagnosis and subtype renal cell carcinoma.

Objective To investigate the effect of the inhibitor SB203580 of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signal transduction pathway on biopterin (BH 4)/nitric oxide (NO) expression and elucidate the potential mechanism of MAPK in biopterin-mediated NO induction after endotoxic shock. Methods A total of 56 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control group (n=8), endotoxic shock group (n=32) and SB203580 treatment group (n=16). After animals were sacrificed, tissue samples from the liver, the lungs as well as the kidneys were harvested to determine the expressions of guanosine triphosphate cyclohydrolase I (GTP-CHI) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) mRNA and observe the changes of BH 4 and NO levels in blood and tissues. Results With endotoxin challenge, GTP-CHI mRNA expression and BH 4 levels were significantly elevated in various tissues and maintained at high levels up to 24 hours. Similarly, the iNOS mRNA expression and NO levels in the tissues significantly increased too, especially in the liver and the lungs. Treatment with SB203580 significantly down-regulated GTP-CHI mRNA expression in the liver, the lungs and the kidneys at 12, 24 and 2-12 hours, respectively (P
