The hypoxia-inducible factor-1(HIF-1) gene located on the long (q)arm 21-24 of chromosome 14, is composed of HIF-1? and HIF-1? subunits. HIF-1 promotes its target gene HRE to transcribe by binding to the element and then causes a series of responses of the cell to hypoxia. HIF-1 has been found to be overexpressed in breast cancer cell, and the expressions of HIF-1 level were correlated with the prognosis and prediction factors of breast cancer. As a cytokine, HIF-1 will be a new prognosis factor and a new target for the treatment of breast cancer.

Objective To evaluate the effects of modulated, medium frequency electrotherapy on hemodynamics after thoracic surgery to provide non-pharmacological measures for preventing deep vein thrombosis (DVT).Methods Seventy thoracic surgery patients were divided into an experimental group and a control group. Both groups received conventional treatment and nursing. The experimental group (35 patients) was treated with modulated, medium frequency electrotherapy additionally while the control group (35 patients) was not. The vein systolic maximum velocity (Vmax), vein diastolic minimum velocity (Vmin) and time-averaged mean velocity (TAVM) in the femoral vein, the superficial femoral vein, the deep femoral vein, the popliteal vein and the anterior tibial vein were observed before the operation, 4h after the operation, just after 20 minutes of electrotherapy, 15 min after the electrotherapy and 30 min after the electrotherapy. Results There were significant differences among the time points in the experimental group. There was no significant difference among the time points in the control group. There were significant differences in lower extremity hemodynamics between the experimental group and the control group at end of the electrotherapy session, but no significant differences at the later time points. Conclusions Modulated, medium frequency electrotherapy has a significant effect on lower extremity hemodynamics. It is an effective method for DVT prophylaxis in perioperative thoracic surgical patients.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect and survival quality of raltitrexed and radiotherapy in treatment of esophagus cancer. Methods 100 cases with esophagus cancer were selected. There were 50 cases using raltitrexed combined with concurrent radiotherapy as observation group. Others were treated with 5-Fu combined with concurrent radiotherapy as control group. The clinical therapeutic effect and survival situation of two groups were evaluated. Results After treatment, the total response rate of observation group (86.0%) was higher than control group (58.0%), the differences between the two groups was statistical difference(P<0.05).The one- and two-year survival rates in observation group were higher than control group (χ2 = 4.32, 7.954, P=0.038, 0.005<0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups in incidence rate of acute esophagitis, acute bone marrow suppression and acute skin reaction. Conclusion The clinical therapy of raltitrexed plus radiotherapy in treatment of esophagus cancer is distinct, and improve the survival time and the quality of life of patients.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
The nutritive value of different heat processed textured soybean proteins was measured by means of chemical and biologic methods. The experiment was divided into four groups (10 rats, each): (1) High heat treated textured soybean protein group; (2) Low heat treated textured soybean protein group; (3) Casein group; (4) Protein free group. The former three groups contained 10% protein, the latter contained less than 0.56% protein. The preperations were fed to 4 groups of weanling male rats for 4 weeks. The results showed that the body weight increments in the three groups were 146.4,158.1,188.7g; the protein effeciency ratio (PER) 2.17, 2.23, 2.74; the net protein ratio (NPR) 3.52, 3.51, 3.84; the true digestibility 84.5, 83.4, 95.8; the biological value 68.7, 64.6, 68.9 and net protein utilization 58.1, 54.0, and 66.1 respectively. Those results indicated that there was no significant difference between the high and low heat treated textured soybean protein.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinical effects and toxicity of netilmicin with different administrations by de?termining its serum concentration in the treatment of lower respiratory tract infection.METHODS:22cases of lower respi?ratory tract infection were randomly divided into two groups. The drug serum concentrations were determined by TDx system.Clinical effects were compared;renal function and hearing ability were monitored.RESULTS:On the condition of the same total daily dosage, the peak concentrations in once-daily group(group QD)were significantly higher than those in twice-daily group(group BD)(P

OBJECTIVES:To fathom situation and the cause about adverse drug reactions(ADR)from each drug manu?facturing enterprise and drug handling enterprise in our city.METHODS:501cases of ADR reports in our city collected by ADR monitoring center in2004were classified and analyzed statistically.RESULTS:Of the501ADR cases,226cases were resulted from antibiotic drugs which accounted for45.1%,80cases were resulted from by traditional Chinese drugs prepara?tions which accounted for16.0%;ADR most commonly manifested itself in the injury of skin and appendants, which accounted for48.9%(245cases),then the damage of digestive system and circulation system, there were21(4.2%)comparative serious ADR cases among which;most cases were resulted from iv which accounted for65.9%(330cases)of the total.CONCLU?SION:Cultivation of professional quality and service quality of the professional staff should be strengthened and the om?nibearing ADR monitoring work should be deployed so as to lessen and avoid the occurrence of ADR.

Objective To prepare titanium dioxide (TiO2 ) nanoparticles with good near-infrared light and study the loading and release of doxorubicin. Methods The Sm doped TiO2 nanoparticles (Sm-TiO2 ) were synthesized using a modified solvothermal reaction and then observed with transmission electron microscope. The fluorescence spectrum, doxorubicin loading capacity and release profile were also determined. Results The obtained Sm-TiO2 nanoparticles with the length from 100-200 nm were fusiform and well dispersed. The emission wavelength was 640-670 nm. The drug loading capacity in water was 11. 5% . DOX in vitro was pH sensitive to release. Conclusion Sm-TiO2 nanoparticles have good near-infrared light, high drug loading capacity and controllable drug release are obtained and should be studied further more as a novel carrier.

Objective To observe the effect of comprehensive rehabilitation on POEMS syndrome during sequel period. Methods Two cases of POEMS syndrome with multiple peripheral nerve injury as the main manifestation received physical therapy, occupational therapy, acupuncture, surface electromyography biofeedback and other comprehensive rehabilitation treatment. Results After treatment, the muscle strength, trunk balance, standing balance ability, activities of daily living (ADL) improved. The score of Berg Balance Scale increased from 18 to 28 in the first case, the modified Bathel Index increased from 55 to 70 in the second case. Conclusion Comprehensive rehabilitation can improve the function of patients with POEMS syndrome during sequel period, and surface electromyography biofeedback plays an im-portant role.
